This venue is going to be an Absolute Dream
Ok, so we just finished our preview tour of The Laiken, and I am so incredibly excited. This place isn't just another venue; it has such a unique and genuinely amazing vibe. Even though it's not officially open yet, you can already tell the whole aesthetic is going to be stunning. Definitely a five-star find for us!
What really blew me away was the perfect marriage of chic design and natural beauty. The way they're planning to integrate the buildings with the Hill Country landscape is just gorgeous – seriously, like something out of a magazine. The light, the textures they're envisioning… it has this cool, sophisticated, yet totally authentic feel. The architects clearly have amazing taste.
And the indoor-outdoor flow they're planning? It's going to be incredible. They're not just talking about big windows; they're creating a seamless connection between the beautiful interiors and that breathtaking Lake Travis view. It’s going to make the whole experience so smooth and enjoyable for everyone. It's more than just a pretty backdrop; it’s a fundamental part of what makes the venue so special.
I left with my mind racing with possibilities. This place feels like the perfect canvas to create a wedding that’s truly us – not just some generic, off-the-shelf package. It has this wonderful, exclusive feel, almost like our own private Hill Country escape for the day. I can already picture the stunning ceremony photos and then everyone mingling and having a great time under the stars. It’s going to be so memorable.
The passion behind this project is so clear, and I have a feeling this place is going to be the spot. We feel so incredibly lucky to have found this gem! -

SO glad we didn't use this venue
The location is pretty but the venue feels generic and soul-less. And that is just going by their presentation/photos as it isn't even built yet! They are insanely overpriced - watch out for the fine print. And there is not enough parking for the venue so they expect guests to carpool. Also- something they didn't mention and thankfully we asked, they expect ba $20 per employee tip on top of all the fees they do mention. What a rip off. -

Fraud scammers
This company promises the world, takes your money, and then stabs you in the back. The venue was supposed to be complete by spring 2025, however, they won't even be ready to host a single event until at least the end of 2026. That is a full 2 years of lies and promises broken, money stolen, weddings ruined, and they just sit there fat, happy, and unresponsive on their pile of stolen money. Do not fall for their lies and scam, this venue will not be ready for your wedding and they will not help you in any way. Plus the food sucks and they charge you extortionate amounts. -

2026 bride - word to the wise
This review reflects my current and up-to-date experience working with Walters Wedding Estates and their venue, The Laiken.
I would not recommend booking this venue at this time to avoid the level of stress and heartache we are currently facing.
We booked The Laiken in November 2024, while it was still under construction. At that time, it was being promoted as opening in Spring 2025. When that season arrived, the venue was still unfinished—and Walters Wedding Estates cancelled all Spring 2025 weddings, in some cases just two months before the scheduled dates.
We were never directly informed of this delay. We only learned about it through our own professional network, as we also work in the wedding industry. After learning about the situation, I reached out to my assigned planner, who redirected me to the Regional VP. After receiving only surface-level answers, I followed up the same day with more questions—none of which were answered for 30 days. On day 31, a new Regional VP contacted me to inform me that both my planner and the previous VP were no longer with the company.
We met on June 27th, where I requested written assurances that:
We would be notified promptly of any future construction delays, and
We could be released from our contract if the venue was not ready at least six months prior to our November 2026 wedding date.
The Regional VP agreed and said their legal team would send documentation the following week. This never happened. When I followed up, I learned that he, too, was no longer with the company.
By August 2025, I had yet another new planner, who connected me with the District Operations Manager (DOM). He informed me that the venue’s opening date had again been pushed from October 2025 to January 2026. During that conversation, he assured me that construction was “on track” and promised transparent communication. When I again asked for the assurances in writing, I was told this wasn’t possible because our contract was a “construction contract”—despite the fact that our paperwork is the same standard event contract used for all Walters venues.
In October 2025, I reached out to schedule a logistics meeting, only to learn my new planner had already left the company. The next assigned planner arranged a meeting with us, during which we discovered yet another delay—the opening had been moved to March 2026. This was never communicated to us; we only learned about it because we initiated the meeting ourselves.
After escalating the issue once more, we were connected with yet another new Regional VP, who initially agreed that the written assurances we requested were reasonable and said she would speak with her superiors. However, when I followed up today, her tone and stance completely changed. I was repeatedly spoken over and told that what I was asking for “legally could not be put in writing”—which is inaccurate, but apparently the stance they’ve decided to take.
Despite six different staff turnovers and three separate rejections of our reasonable requests, we are still being told to trust a “verbal confirmation” that the venue will open in March 2026.
As both a 2026 bride and a wedding industry professional, I deeply regret booking with Walters Wedding Estates and The Laiken. The lack of transparency, accountability, and consistency has been incredibly disappointing. -

Do not book
I’m shocked on how this company is still running. They were the most deceiving people I have ever met. They wouldn’t even give a reason as to why the venue wasn’t ready and their “vice president” was reading off of a script when he called us to cancel our wedding with less than 3 months until the date. Then our “planner” didn’t even reach out or have any human decency to offer any support. They tried to make us sign an NDA to get our money back. They delete all of my comments on their social media. They have no money which is why they are calling this a “resort” with the only amenity being a fire pit. They try to charge your guests by the hour to use the pool because they clearly are going bankrupt. Save yourself the time and do not book -

Fraud venue who cancelled weddings
This venue is an actual joke. They lie about everything. They cancelled weddings and made the brides sign NDAs to get their money back. Every single employee is a liar. This company deserves 0 stars. I am begging and praying that no one ever books with Walters Wedding Estates. -

Recommend to look elsewhere
The construction isn’t getting done anytime soon, don’t fall for what they tell you. -
