Jason and the Market Salamander team are fantastic. We never actually met since I live out of state but I was not disappointed. Jason worked with me to find an idea for the cake that clicked. When I suggested using our invitation as a guide, he rolled with it and created an absolutely beautiful design. We received many compliments and it looked wonderful in the detail shots taken at the reception. Thank you Jason!

Jason made the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake we have ever seen and tasted! (and not just because it was our wedding cake) He was a pleasure to work with, quick to respond, flexible and patient on design, and extremely nice and helpful. Our guests could not stop talking about our cake. It came out even better than we hoped! It was almost sad to cut into it, it was so beautiful to look at! We ordered a 30-serving three tiered cake with fondant and custom topper; for the custom design, taste, and experience, it was definitely money worth spent. I would recommend Jason again and again, especially if you want that special detail that will leave you with lasting memories.

Jason Reeves is AWESOME!!!! I second what many other brides have said; he is not only a really good pastry chef, but also super creative and talented. We went to several cake tastings, but Jason's cakes were the best. We selected two different flavors, the passion raspberry and the tres leches. Not only was our cake delicious, but the cake decoration was amazing. When we met with Jason we gave him our visions and he came up with a great sketch on the spot that captured what we wanted. Our cake was half a wine barrel with a wine bottle with our personalized lable and a few other winery inspired pieces. We had many people at the wedding who could not believe that the barrel with the bottle was really the cake. Everyone loved the cake and the decor. It has ben three weeks since our wedding and people are still raving about the cake. Jason ROCKS!!!!!!

Jason Reeves is a ROCK Star! We had the best cakes! Jason was extremely fun and professional to work with, but above all he is extremely talented.

I can't say enough good things about Jason Reaves at Market Salamander! I sincerely hope he never leaves this company, because what he made for both my Bridal Shower and Wedding were so good, we'l keep buying desserts from him on an everyday basis, not just for special occasions. My husband is diabetic, and I need to keep a strict gluten, yeast, soy, and sugar-free diet myself as I have dietary complications from Lyme disease. We'd been to 2 other bakeries - one in Manassas, and a well-known one in Vienna - and BOTH were disasters. WAY too expensive for something that was either not dietarily suitable for either/both of us, or too expensive, or tasteless - sometimes all three.

So imagine my relief and surprise when Jason actually took the time to talk with me in detail about our dietary needs and how best to achieve them - debating sugar-free sweeteners and flours with me until I was satisfied he truly knew how to accommodate our special needs, and cared about doing so! And at a VERY good price - half of what we'd been asked to pay previously. He didn't charge extra for different shapes for each layer, for pillars to separate the top (sugar and gluten-free layer) from the middle layer. We exchanged multiple emails about the size, shape, and position of the wedding topper, the cat figurines to decorate the middle layer, and the strawberries on the bottom layer, cut to resemble small flowers - even when the pictures had to be resent about a zillion times. He never seemed to find this an imposition - he seemed to like the challenge, but was courteous about it - no ego or attitude.

He also made my Bridal Shower cake, which was made to my dietary requirements - so skillfully that no one thought it was different from a regular cake. He can do any size, shape, theme, dietary need out there and seems to welcome the challenge - this is what sets him apart from the rest, who are only content to produce the same stuff as everyone else.

Jason Reaves at Market Salamander has to be the best pastry chef. His cake was incredible! When we were looking for vendors we went to 4 cake tastings and Jason's blew everyone's out of the water. He had a unique array of flavors and the hardest part of it all was trying to choose which one we liked the best! Luckily our cake had 5 tiers so we were able to choose several flavors. He and his team did an incredible job decorating the cake and making my vision come to life. He did a few sketches and we worked together to make it perfect. He is very talented!

Jason also did our grooms cake which I had delivered at our rehearsal dinner. It was a HUGE hit. My husband went to University of Maryland and I went to University of Kentucky and we are both HUGE college basketball fans. My husband is also a huge golfer... Jason created a Maryland Terp (turtle) swinging a golf club at a U of KY golf ball (that was hard for me... I took one for the team for my husbands cake). We had the entire party in awe of Jason's work. It was so detailed... down to the scowl on the Terps face... unreal! He was able to make it 2 different mouth watering flavors. It has been over a week since our wedding and people are still talking about our cakes.

We got countless compliments on the taste and beauty of our cake. We had several people who went up for seconds! Luckily Brian and I had some left over so we could take it home! Really the best cake we've ever had and a huge hit with our guests. Super moist and just unbelievably yummy! Jason was great to work with. He is a busy chef, but always and happily answered all of our questions and was gladly able to adjust the size of our cakes to accomodate our numbers. He was a delight to work with. My husband, myself and all of our guests highly recommend Jason Reaves!

Jason created a delorean car cake for my groom! It was awesome! I saw his work at a bridal show and it was really impressive. I tried some of the sample cake and really liked it! I contacted Jason and asked if he could make a delorean car cake. He even sent me pictures of other car cakes he had done before. I felt very comfortable working with him. I sent him a few pictures of the car and he created the coolest cake I have ever seen! My groom loved it! He loved all the little details he did too! I think it was well worth the money! My groom loved it so much he didn't want to cut it! Everyone at the wedding thought it was the coolest thing ever! The groom's cake was a surprise and Jason and his team did an excellent job keeping it a surprise. They delivered it for me too and were on time!

I was happy with pretty much all aspects of working with Market Salamander except for the final products. The tasting was so delicious and Jason was truly wonderful and responsive. Our cake tasted nothing like the sample we had. It was dry and we threw away about 80% of it. It was sad because I was looking forward to it so much! I'm still holding out hope that the top tier we are saving will magically taste good on our anniversary. The decorations were pretty good, but the colors were not right. We also ordered whoopie pies, which they wrapped beautifully. I'm glad we had these for the guests in spite of the cake. Overall, people really liked the whoopie pies, although they could have used more filling. I would definitely give them another chance in the future based on the tasting.

Jason Reeves at Market Salamander was an absolute pleasure to work with! He was easy going and flexible and made the MOST GORGEOUS CAKE I have ever seen!!!!! My family and friends are still asking me about the Cake and telling me it was so gorgeous they didn't even want to eat it and that it was delicious to boot!!!!

We could not have been happier with our cake from Market Salamander! It was STUNNING and delicious, and Jason was an absolute dream to work with. From the tasting to the day itself, everything was just perfect. We opted for a slightly complicated ruffle design, and my nerves were put to rest after our first meeting with Jason. He is truly an artist with his cakes. He captured our vision PERFECTLY and delivered the cake with plenty of time to set up and decorate with fresh flowers on site. Could not have asked for more!

Not only did market salamander provide wonderful tasting cupcakes at an affordable price but included in the price was a mini wedding cake to cut that was decorated absolutely beautifully. Jason Reeves-the pastry chef was so nice, helpful, and creative. Market Salamander was recommended to me by a friend who used them for her wedding and now I can say I will happily pass on the recommendation. Can't beat this place for cupcakes!

My husband and I used Market Salamander for our catering at our wedding on October 6, 2012. We also used Jason Reaves from Market Salamander for both our wedding cake and groom's cake. Everything was amazing. Tatum, our catering manager, was wonderful and very helpful. She created a menu that stayed within our budget and wowed our guests. If you think Market Salamander is outside of your budget you could be wrong, just let them know what you were thinking per person and they will come up with options that are within it. She and the entire staff were extremely friendly and punctual on the wedding day. The food was amazing. We received tons of compliments and we saw people go up for thirds. There was nothing left at the end of the night! It was the best wedding food we've ever had at a wedding.

Jason Reaves did an absolutely amazing job with both our wedding cake and the groom's cake. Not only did they taste just wonderful but they looked like pieces of art. We talked with Jason about what we wanted and he designed the perfect wedding cake for us that also went along with our centerpieces. We are both Lord of the Rings fans and wanted a Barad-dur/Eye of Sauron groom's cake. Jason did an amazing job making this a reality. People didn't even know it was a cake until we cut into it. And then they couldn't believe how good it tasted. Jason is extremely talented and probably could make any design into a cake! We could not have been happier. Jason made our dream cakes into reality.

Cake was so great. I took two photos of totally different designed cakes to Jason and he married to two! With a sketch! The cake was so beautiful and he even incorporated our school's logo on the cake stand. So personal and delicious!

Normally, I find wedding cakes to be either pretty but unedible, or tasty but unattractive so I wasn't sold on ever finding one that was both beautiful and delicious. Until, that is, we found Jason Reaves. From the start, Jason was extremely responsive as we set up a tasting. I was able to show Jason a picture of what I wanted, and he made us the most fabulous 4-tiered buttercream wedding cake-one that survived multiple hours in our hot, humid outdoor wedding. Jason is a Food Network cake challenge champ and it's Middleburg, so it's a tad more pricey than some other places but it was ABSOLUTELY worth every penny. Our guests LOVED the cake and we couldn't have been more pleased with everything!!

What can I say, but wow! We met with Jason for a private tasting. My daughter and her fiancé selected three cakes to try. Each of the other couples scheduled for the day also selected three, so we got to try quite a few cakes. They were all delicious. We were all impressed with Jason's professionalism. Once my daughter and her fiancé chose the cake they liked best, Jason worked with them on the design, guiding them through all the different options. Jason was very flexible, as we changed one of the decisions about the cake just a few weeks before the wedding. The cake was beautiful and all of the guests seemed to enjoy it.
