Omg!!!! The Crystal Ballroom!!! This was the perfect venue for us. The tiered seating, amazing food and all around accommodations created the perfect venue for our wedding. Each and every guest raved about it all. -

I could not have asked for a better venue! The Crystal Ballroom is such a unique and beautiful room and I was so happy to find a place that held the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in the same place. The tiered seating was absolutely perfect, my husband and I were able to see every single guest from our table, which was very important to us. Friends and family are still talking about how good the food was! There is plenty of space for the bridal party to relax and many spots to take pictures inside the historic building - including sunset photos on the roof! I was so excited to show off this venue to all our friends. I am so grateful for Lauren, Ryan and the entire staff for all their hard work and being so accommodating and kind. Thank you for everything! -

Where to begin!! Lafayette Grande was absolutely wonderful and swoon worthy! Their staff is so friendly and accommodating. From the beginning of our journey down to the the days leading up they were responsive and super helpful. Ryan is a friend to us now! He made sure all the tiny details were worked our beforehand so all was on the same page. Everything about LG was perfection! Nothing but rave reviews from guests about the service and the food was spectacular! Our room looked stunning and it was just the way we envisioned it! If you are looking to WOW your guests with architecture and charm Lafayette Grande is the way to go. Price points are excellent! We would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much LG!!!!!! -

Greg and Ryan were the absolute best! Very accommodating, flexible, and understanding. My wedding planners were coming all the way from Florida to set up and Ryan gave them very flexible options. The venue was absolutely gorgeous and really gave a grand appearance. The staff was very professional and welcoming. -

Sarah Sent on 01/03/2020Hidden Gem in Pontiac, Flexible and Accommodating
Who would have thought that there was a hidden gem in downtown Pontiac? The Lafayette Grande is an old masonic temple built in the 1920s and is absolutely stunning, a lot of our local guests were really impressed! Lauren, Greg, and the staff was also incredibly flexible and accommodating and we were so glad to go with a venue where we could do both the ceremony and reception in one place. Even with upgrades (i.e. chiavari chairs, extra bar hour and upgrade, extra apps) their per person cost is really affordable compared to options you'd get in downtown Detroit. We went with a pork loin with apple chutney option which was probably my favorite but the rest was pretty standard wedding fare. We did family-style dinner and all the food seemed to come out on time and at the right temp. We added an extra bottled beer option to the bar since my husband is a bit craft beer fan and it was nice because whatever was unopened we got to keep. They even gave us a case of beer from the previous wedding since that couple forgot to take it. The groomsmen got ready on site in their Pontiac Lounge space and they had another case of beer, lunch, and snacks set-up for them pretty much at cost. The service staff was great and they helped to corral people for ceremony/dinner, open/shut main doors for the ceremony, and help navigate the old elevator. They even plated and set out our dessert table, even though we went with other vendors for the dessert. Probably my only complaint throughout the entire process was that they notify you of their monthly tastings a bit last minute (within 1-2 weeks), so it was a bit tricky trying to schedule to attend one since we were out-of-state, but I totally get it if most of their clients are local. Overall, it was nice to have a venue be really flexible and affordable, especially in regards to how we could set up the space and how we wanted to run things. Thanks for making our wedding day so special! -

We couldn't have gotten married at a better place than the Lafayette Grande! We got married in the Crystal Ballroom. The whole building is a stunning example of beautiful 1920's Art Deco architecture, which is our favorite. The venue is family owned and run, which was important to us too. There was a lot more heart here than some of the other places we inquired about and checked out. Greg, Lauren, and the whole Lafayette Grande Staff treated us fantastically during our whole planning process and during our wedding day. Outstanding building, amazing food and service. This is truly a hidden gem among the Metro Detroit wedding industry. We will always treasure our memories made here on our wedding day. We will tell anyone we know planning a wedding in the area about Lafayette Grande. I would love to be in attendance at another wedding here and witness another couples dreams come true! -

This space is beautiful so that speaks for itself, then you add on the amazing food and the best family oriented customer service you could ask for. We had our wedding in the Crystal Ballroom with the ceremony upstairs and the reception down stairs. The room is such a grand space and yet everyone still felt close enough were they could chat and get to know each other. We were able to get to the rooftop and get a picture with Pontiac's skyline in the back. -

We had our wedding here in The Grande Ballroom and are so happy with how everything turned out! They have tastings once a month where the bride and groom eat for free, so we were able to try a lot of their food before we decided on our final menu. On our wedding day the food was even better than any of the tastings we had been to. We picked the roasted beef and carved pork butt which were both delicious, but the vegetarian alfredo lasagna is one of the best dishes I have ever had and was a huge hit! All of the staff was super friendly and helpful the night of our wedding. The venue is family owned and they were all helpful during the entire process. We were also lucky and had the room free the Friday before so we were able to set up early which was super convenient. The room looked gorgeous the day of, and all of our guests loved everything! We were also able to bring our own cake in without an extra fee, which some venues we looked at did not allow. For anyone looking for a unique wedding venue I would highly recommend Lafayette Grande! -

We were in the market for an off-site caterer at a venue which did not have a full kitchen, only a small prep kitchen. After a caterer that we had been talking to for months backed out on us, we were nervous about finding someone else who could cater at our venue without a full kitchen. The Lafayette Grande's Traveling Chef Catering exceeded all of our expectations! They assured us that they could keep our food warm until dinner, as they were, in fact, the first to ever cater at our venue. We loved that they offer a monthly taste test, where we could try many different dishes and figured out what we liked and didn't like. Each month featured different dishes, so by the time we had to make our selections, we had tried most of their menu! They have an excellent menu- we received so many compliments on our food! They also set up a great food display with an ice sculpture for our cocktail hour. We also used Lafayette Grande's services for our bar. They also offer a late-night snack, which we were initially undecided about, but happy we finally went with it. People loved it! From start to finish, Lauren, Ryan, and everyone at Lafayette was helpful in answering our questions, reassuring us, and giving us the best wedding reception! -

Yana Sent on 09/22/2018Lafayette Grande went above and beyond for our wedding and we couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out on our big day. First of all, the venue is quite unique and beautiful-it's an art deco theatre that's unlike anything else in Michigan and they are constantly doing renovations to improve the decoration and structural integrity of the building. The food was good and as a bonus, they let us bring in some appetizers from a restaurant with whom they have worked with before, and our own desserts and cake. They were so easy-going, polite, and accommodating with all of our requests.
We chose Lafayette Grande because it was a beautiful venue, the food was consistently good, and we could have our ceremony and reception all in one place. They really enjoy what they do and you can tell because all of our interactions were so productive and pleasant. They geek out on making a wedding special and unique-so if you want to think outside of the box, this is the place for you! We had a concert for our ceremony and a dessert room and they both turned out better than we envisioned. Our guests raved about the beauty of the venue, the fact that everything was in one place, the food, and how smoothly everything went. Overall, it was a very positive experience for us! -

This unique place captured our attention. We were on the 4th floor the Crystal ballroom. Upon the first meeting until the end, Ryan, Greg, Rob and beautiful Lauren were extremely helpful, fun and amazing people to work with and to talk to. The day of the wedding and during set up an wonderful young man was so helpful and was right there to do anything we needed. Doug and I couldn't have imagined our day without them and this beautiful place. Because of their great service and this gorgeous place, our number one compliment from the wedding is "that was the best wedding I have ever been to and in an incredible place too". Photos do not do it justice! I can't forget about the food. OMG the food!!! We were able to attend a few food tastings and everything we had was great. It was so difficult to choose. They have a variety to choose from, and they were so great in accommodating my mom who has multiple food allergies. -

They were amazing at working with us, from food tastings, to many showings to our family and friends. They hosted our engagement party as well! We had our ceremony and reception in the Crystal Ballroom, everything was perfect! The staff was great! We recieved so many compliments on awesome wedding and venue! Everything was perfect! Cant thank you all enough! Highly recommend!!!! -

They are fantastic to work with, the food is delicious (our guests loved it), and extremely flexible and laid back! No need to worry about random fees here - they are up front and honest about each and every part of their service! And they care about YOU and YOUR DAY more than anything - you can't go wrong here! -

Patricia Sent on 10/19/2012My wedding was magical, and the Lafayette Grande played a large role in that. The setting was superb, my fiancee and I noticed that as soon as we stepped in about a year and a half before our wedding. As a history major and lover of beautiful architecture, as soon as we walked into the Crystal Ballroom I knew that I wanted elegance to be the theme, and this room to be the setting. What made it even more special was that the food was divine, and while it was a little pricier than some of the other places we looked at, it was worth the deliciousness that was the food, and the atmosphere. Plus, Greg gave us an extra discount on the large number of children who came :) There is no bad seat in the house. Even our friends who we had to put in the mezzanine told us how they felt that they had the best seats, even though they were "in the back". The waitstaff was nice and courteous the entire night. And the gentlemen who helped us from start to finish (Ryan and Greg I do believe) were awesome. From the moment we signed with them during which we received two free steaks and two bottles of wine, to the 2 tastings we went to, to the day of where we were served by Greg personally, we were blown away by the service. And the icing on the cake was that they sent us away with croissant sandwhiches and a bottle of champagne which we absolutely needed after a long night dancing and then hanging out in our hotel room before we went to the hotel and on to the airport a couple of hours later. The only thing that put a little glitch in the night was that our wedding cake wasn't cut until about an hour before the end of the night, and unfortunately due to us mingling with the guests and not paying quite enough attention we didn't notice until many of the guests had left. However, considering that was the only "bad" thing that happened over the course of the night, we'll take it! -
Audrey Sent on 12/19/2017I couldn't imagine having our reception anywhere else. The Lafayette Grande staff is not your typical wedding venue staff. They are super down to earth and talk to you like a friend, not a potential client. I will tell you, however, that they have a rough exterior. I implore you to look past that and book this venue. The owners were absolutely amazing to work with and I don't think they could have possibly been more accommodating. I had a few concerns about the room and they thanked me for giving them the opportunity to address them and fixed the problems within a few weeks. If we needed anything at all, they said "no problem!" and we didn't worry about it again. I can't say enough good things about the Lafayette Grande and its staff or thank them enough for making our day completely perfect.
Oh, and the food at our wedding was significantly better than at the tastings! I think the food at the tastings is left from events they have those nights. It was good, but not great when we tried it at the tastings. The food on our wedding day was GREAT! We had herb baked chicken, black angus roast beef (which guests are still raving about 3 days later), pasta, green beans, and roasted red skin potatoes. Every item was absolutely delicious. A lot of brides say they don't get to eat on their wedding day, but the food was so good I went up for seconds. You need to book this venue! -

Jeffrey Sent on 04/03/2015This is a review for Lafayette, mainly focusing on the floor we chose - the Crystal Ballroom.
We were quite satisfied with Lafayette - the Crystal Ballroom is just beautiful! Even three months after the wedding, people still comment on how majestic the room is, and they've never seen anything like it. Honestly, the seating on 3 sides of the dance floor with a mezzanine, and 3 tiers of seating is quite unique. (Think theatrical Broadway-type room arrangement, or go look at pictures yourself).
Catering is included, no cake-cutting fee, free food tastings (buffets) until your wedding day (once a month), multiple points of contact (Angela, a wedding coordinator who works there that you could hire, but otherwise answers questions, and Greg the owner is awesome), oh and a quite large dance floor? All great perks of this place. A secluded buffet room, secluded bar, and second tier area if you have multiple events going on (like a photo booth or other ceremony) event. Appetizers, and after-dinner snack, as well as a honeymoon snack were included - but we had done the "book within 7 days or 2 weeks of seeing the place" timeframe deal.
They have free shuttle service to/from nearby hotels if you book enough rooms there.
If you are concerned about sound leaking from the other ballrooms if there are multiple weddings, we didn't even notice the other wedding being there.
In terms of setup, they normally only let you in at 9am the morning of your wedding. If they don't have an event the day before, you can inquire to set up that day - recommended! -

Both William and Daniel (DJ & photographer) were extremely professional and great to work with. We hired them for our wedding on 12/4/21 and we were very impressed! Both had great energy and really helped us create an amazing experience. I would highly recommend working with them! -

C Sent on 11/25/2011I did love working with Greg, Rob and Ryan, however, their waitstaff on our night was less than desireable. We were told to leave when the bar shut down even though we have the hall for one more hour. I was also told I would be given the option to extend the bar the night of our wedding - that didn't happen. Perhaps the wait staff had something more important to get to after work....who knows. The food was good and it was easy to plan -but the help made the experience made super stressfull the night of...which is something no family wants. I was expecting that things would be 'taken' care of...not so much. I would recommend this venue but I would give a list of things to watch out for.
