A great evening!

Adrienne was excellent to work with. From start to finish she was attentive to our needs, finding solutions to our concerns and providing us with a perfect evening for the wedding rehearsal dinner. Everyone was very impressed with the room and the food was excellent. I highly recommend Jake's Catering.

Timeless Location with Excellent Food

Jake's and the Sentinel Hotel will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Our wedding weekend and reception was perfect. This was such a classy, beautiful, and timeless setting for our reception. We had cocktails in the Library and the reception in the grand ballroom.
We also had all pre/post wedding events (bridal luncheon, rehersal dinner, and brunch) at Jakes. The food was great for all the events, and the service was beyond exceptional; the staff was so attentive and professional. There is a f/b minimum, but their dinner options and buffets are better than most as far as what you can get for $50/plate. Working with Adrienne and the staff was the best part. Adrienne made sure everything was set the way we wanted, that we would meet our f/b minimum, and made herself available to answer any questions or to set something right. If you are looking for the perfect downtown location for your wedding or event choose Jake's Catering at The Sentinel Hotel. The rooms are stunning, but more important the food is excellent and the staff is great.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful

Our experience with the Sentinel was top notch! We worked with Diane from start to finish and she made sure we were comfortable, had all our questions answered and that everything was seamless and beautiful for our big day. They especially worked with us when it came to our menu as my husband has many food allergies. They took everyone into account and made sure all our food was perfect for all our guest. The day of staff was incredible and made sure everything ran smoothly! Thank you so so much! We couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful and well ran venue!

Absolutely Recommend!

Diane & her team at Jakes Catering were more than accommodating to our requests. She and her team were able to source everything we requested (including, but not limited to.. vegan options, halal meat) for a party of over 300 guests. Diane was always responsive and helped us enjoy a stress-free wedding celebration. She went above and beyond in helping us identify the right vendors and details of our DELICIOUS meal!

Would highly recommend them for their professionalism, quality, and their desire to go above and beyond to accommodate our requests. THANK YOU!

Surprisingly Affordable Elegance

To be honest, when my fiancé and I were on our way to meet Kirsten to view Sentinel's event spaces we planned on saying thank you but no thanks. We just didn't think it would be in our budget. Kirsten walked us though the 2nd floor billiard room and library, explained what was included in booking with them and asked us our budget. She said that was doable. My husband was sold right there, that day. After receiving quotes a couple of business days later, I was on the same page; Especially with it including our preferred dinner choice, tacos (which were delicious by the way)! Kirsten is so kind, responsive and helpful. It was like working with one of our closest friends.

Kirsten, the Catering Sales Manager, is the sweetest, kindest person and made working with Jake's the best experience. We utilized a newer service Jake's offers for food catering pick-up, which was very easy to use. We placed the order and day of everything was packaged up for easy transport. We did a picnic wedding so ordered sandwiches - which included individual bags of chips and huge chocolate chip cookies. We also had a very pretty fruit display and multiple picnic salads. Kirsten was always quick to respond and was very helpful with our changing wedding plan. My now husband and I cannot wait to renew our wedding vows in a few years and use the Sentinel's Library for a beautiful party. I highly recommend Jake's!

We hosted our wedding reception at the Sentinel, and we couldn't have been happier with the venue and the team at Jake's. Kirsten was wonderful to work with—warm, patient, resourceful, organized, and insightful. We had our cocktail hour in the Renaissance Room and a dinner reception and dancing in the Grand Ballroom, with a total of about 200 guests. The food was excellent, the bartending solid, and the venue beautiful.

We rented an ivory drape to cover the stage in the Grand Ballroom, chiavari chairs, and some gold accents—but no further rentals or external decorations were needed; the space is gorgeous as-is. If you're looking for a classic vibe and a venue that doesn't require lots of external rentals, consider the Sentinel!

By far the best decision I've made was having my wedding at The Sentinel with Jake's Catering. My guests still rave around how beautiful the ceremony/reception rooms were and how amazing the food and staff was. I literally did not have to worry about anything the day of the wedding. For example, someone had mentioned in passing my husband liked cherry coke. When we got to our table there was a cherry coke waiting for him. We also had a couple of guests with pretty severe tree nut allergies. The banquet team made sure they let these guests know exactly what was in the dishes and had nuts off to the side instead of in the dishes. Kristin, my Sales Catering Manager, was responsive and just in general amazing to work with. Seriously, if you want a stress-free wedding, book with Jake's Catering at The Sentinel!

Loved every single thing about my experience with my wedding venue! The staff at every level was incredible to work with. The food was amazing , I got so many compliments from my guests.
Of course the ambiance is second to none in the city of Portand... My ceremony was in the library (120) guests and I loved the intimacy & beauty it provided. We then moved to the Grand ballroom with a live band and DJ, rockin' the house there for the reception. I loved that the spaces were ALL mine for the entire day for set up (rare to find at wedding venues). This is a "turn key" operation and made for a stress free day with all the service I was provided. If you are considering this venue, "book it!" You won't be disappointed!

We had a plated dinner at our wedding and requested for our toasts to have champagne brought out for each guest on trays and Jake's accommodated all of our wishes and then some. They accommodated dietary restrictions and catered to our every need and request. The food and drink provided and the service were top-notch and nothing short of Jake's impeccable standards. They really are a stand out company.

We loved our experience with Jake's Catering, The Sentinel Hotel, and our main point of contact, Julie Weiss, the Social Sales Manager.

Julie was wonderful, making herself available on weekends, before hours, and after hours. Our wedding was executed perfectly and a lot of that credit goes to Jake's Catering and Julie.

The food, catered by Jake's Catering, was as advertised. We had the chicken, Flank Stead, and Salmon. People were raving about the food. Several people said it was the best wedding buffet they've ever had.

Combine that with the location (Ballroom inside of The Sentinel Hotel), and we had a storybook wedding ceremony & reception.

The final "icing on top" was the price. The price is reasonable and fair when compared to other competing venues. The food and location at The Sentinel are superior, so we felt like we got a great deal.

A+. Highly recommended.

We had our rehearsal dinner in the library room at the sentinel - the dinner from jakes was delicious and impressed our guests! They hosted for nearly 75 people and it was perfect!

Absolutely LOVED every part of our experience with Jake's catering. We started working with Julie a year before our wedding and she was there for us every step of the way. From our first tour of the event spaces to our food tasting- every single meeting was professional and the staff made us feel welcome. Our reception was held in the beautiful Governors Ballroom which was absolutely stunning and more than enough room for our party size of 250+. The food was AMAZING and the service matched. They were also very accommodating to those in our party with food allergies or food restrictions. Every single employee went above and beyond any and all our expectations and we received so many compliments on the venue and quality of food to reflect that. We wouldn't have changed a thing and are so grateful to everyone with Jake's who was apart of our special day!

Jakes catering made my dream wedding happen with smoothness, elegance, and delicious food! I am so grateful to the staff for being patient with the decision making process, working well with my other vendors, and making me feel like I could focus on the special day without worrying about things behind the scenes. Where do I start? The Sentinel Hotel and Jakes Catering are the best in class! I give them 5 stars in all aspects. I recently got married in Portland, OR and hosted the reception at the Sentinel Hotel’s Governor Ballroom and used their in-house catering: Jake’s Catering.

The Venue: I love that the hotel has history to it. The designers who recently updated the hotel did a fantastic job my adding in funky Portland touches while still preserving the historical theme of the hotel. Everything about the “look” of this hotel is amazing and creates a great theme for a wedding. The Governor ballroom looks like a classic lavish jazz ballroom with 40 ft. ceilings and a ridiculous amount of crown moldings and grand columns. It certainly gives a Wow Factor when you step foot into it.

Jakes Catering Food and Planning: Julie Weiss, Todd and their banquet teams are catering geniuses. Their level of knowledge in the catering industry is far more superior than the average caterer. They are competitively price, a dream to work with, and executed their food and services better than I could have dreamed of.

All of the catering staff were dressed in sharp uniforms, they set up 2 beautiful bars with twinkling candles all over them. They didn’t miss a mark on the food service schedule. The whole service flowed beautifully which timed out our event perfectly, not to mention the food was delicious. I had guest comment that that the banquet staff were so attentive it felt like there was one banquet staff per guest. “Every time I was getting close to finishing my drink the banquet personnel topped off my drink immediately”.

The planning process with Julie was a blast. My mom and fiancé developed great banter with her, which brought in humor to the whole process, which then turned the planning process, believe it or not, into a FUN process.

Thank you to the whole team that made our wedding a dream come true!

I can not begin to describe how beautiful the Grand Ballroom was for my daughters wedding reception. It was only topped by the delicious food and the amazing service, from the day we first came to visit The Sentinel until we loaded the last wedding gift in our car. We were told by several of our guests that this was the best wedding they had ever been to!

Jake's was nothing less than phenomenal. They worked so closely with us to create an amazing meal and experience for our guests. They have amazing staff who made us SO comfortable for on our big day. Furthermore, their social sales manager, Julie Weiss, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful during the entire process. I felt cared for from start to finish. I would recommend Jake's to anyone!

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at The Governor - Stephanie and Erin at Jake's were a pleasure to work with. Always on top of it, they had it covered. The food was fabulous, the rooms are gorgeous, and the hotel and Jake's were both always quick to respond to any questions I had. They had SIX weddings, yes you read that right SIX, the weekend I got married. Three were happening simultaneously on my wedding day. Were there hiccups? Delays? A drop in service? Nope. Nope. Nope! Total professionals, they know what they are doing and they do it well. Many many thanks to all of the staff at Jake's and The Governor for a fabulous weekend

I was so happy with my service. Their event coordinator Stephanie was like a good friend, so easy to be with and so willing to help and advise. She always believed in the wedding vision (it was a bit unusual) and was someone I could count on to be calm, think of solutions and run things as much or as little as I wanted.

The venue itself is stunning--I got married in the Heritage Ballroom. Jake's food and catering were also excellent, and the staff were friendly, smooth and flawless. I hardly knew they were there.

We had a tiny bit of trouble with the rehearsal. Just be sure if you aren't using a different room for the ceremony than for the reception that you work that out in your contract or with Stephanie well ahead of time. I wasn't quite on top of that and it caused some trouble for the rehearsal the day before, but Stephanie bent over backward to resolve it, and everything worked out well.

The wedding and reception were absolutely dreamlike and perfect. I couldn't recommend this venue more!

Linda was AWESOME! She went above and beyond to make our wedding a wonderful experience. She was both personal and professional and was able to turn a stressful experience into something fun. We stayed at the Governor for two nights, the night before, and the night immediately following, the wedding. We loved our suite! The majority of our out-of-town guests (we had many — most of our friends and family do not live in Portland!) stayed there as well. I believe we had over 30 blocked rooms there, and Melissa Staneck did a magnificent job taking care of coordinating those reservations. I'd definitely recommend working with her if you plan to have hotel blocks at the Governor. She was extremely responsive, friendly, and capable of thinking of potential guests needs that slipped my mind.

We loved everything! The menus they provided us to choose from were fantastic. We had a few changes we made to upgrade some of the meat selections and they had no problem with that. Really got our moneys worth. Everyone at the wedding commented on how good the food was and they even provided us with some kid friendly options as well.

Everything was wonderful! We could not have chosen a better place to have our wedding. We had many out of town guests and the hotel was very accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and has so many rooms to choose from for all the wedding festivities!

Working with Linda Wolfson and her Team was a distinct pleasure. Linda is the total package. Someone that personifies professionalism, expertise, flexibility, warmth, humor and grace.

We had a lot of moving parts with our wedding, it was a true event production with a Rolling Stones reception, 300+ people, live band, 38 person head table, etc. Linda met us every step of the way and executed flawlessly. We also can't say enough about John Liles. He is a pro and a class act. You are lucky to have him in charge of your AV.

Lastly, we just simply love Jakes catering. The food is amazing.

Gorgeous venue that needs little to no extra decorating. The uplight package makes a huge difference in the room and well worth the price. Staff and Erin the coordinator were very helpful and professional.

The Governor Hotel was the perfect place for my daughter's wedding. I loved working with their wedding consultant, "Erin Hight." She was fun, organized and made you feel like you were the only one in the world she was working with. The ceremony and reception flowed so smoothly I am still pinching myself to make sure it really happened. I highly recommend The Gov. to anyone planning a wedding, it will be a wonderful experience you will never forget.

We just had our wedding at the Governor Hotel, and it was the best experience one could dream of! Our wedding coordinator was always keeping us updated and she was always very responsive to my emails. They're so professional, everything went off without a hitch. Even some last minute changes did not faze Erin or Russ. There was some confusion on payments that were worked out, the ceremony planning was a little scattered but they pulled it together. While some might consider the cost a little daunting, it is beyond worth the services they give!!

Jake's was terrific! We were planning our Portland wedding from Chicago, which adds a level of stress. But Erin Hight at Jake's made everything incredibly easy for us. She thought of all the millions of details that hadn't even crossed my mind and had solutions to every possible problem. I would have had a nervous breakdown planning a wedding from so far away without her. She also had great suggestions for other local vendors for all our other wedding needs. And our guests loved the food at our wedding! The staff was incredibly helpful and polite, and the ballroom looked absolutely beautiful for our wedding. We couldn't have been happier with the service and the result at Jake's and the Governor, and we are so glad we got to work with Erin Hight!

Erin at Jake's Catering was great. We were having a small wedding so it was wonderful to have someone who would handle all the details for the day of. The waitstaff were fun and very professional. The head server even asked if we wanted to push dinner back 15 minutes so that everyone could have their share of the appetizers before the meal was served. I was so impressed with the whole package I wish I had another even to plan there.

I will recommend, the Governor Hotel and Jake's Catering to everyone looking for a wonderful event space.

Our review is a bit different because I think in order to know Jake's Catering you have to know about the people who are calling the shots on your big day.
Julie- She was our venue coordinator. From the first moment I got to chat with her on our tour- I fell in love. She LOVES what she does. She was willing to work with us on so many levels. If there was a way for her to make it happen- she would or at least she'd try. She is very organized, kind, funny and most importantly she cares about the people she works with.
Jamie & Russ- They were our Banquet Captains. I met Russ first. He was our evening captain and he called me aside before our rehearsal and went over our schedule. He made our night go so smoothly. I am pretty sure we were behind schedule on our wedding day but he made everything go so smoothly we didn't even notice that we were behind schedule. Nothing was cut short. I swear- Russ has super powers. One look from you and he knows what you need. Our morning captain was Jamie. She was there at 6:30am meeting my needs. I'd call her, what seemed like every other minute, with requests and her answer was always, "Okay. I'll be right there." And on top of that, she'd check in with us very often.
Chef Tricia- She was our Chef. Oh, the food!! Everything was perfect! People told me that brides usually don't eat but I had every bite of my meal. It was that amazing! We had a few changes and suggestions on our choices during the tasting and on our wedding day everything we had wanted was present! The cooking staff and Chef Tricia really know what they are doing!
Finally, the wait staff. I was truly amazed at the staff. We got so many compliments about how courteous the staff were. All in all- you can't go wrong with Jake's Catering at The Sentinel. They are worth EVERY penny. If you want a stress free experience- go find Julie and her staff!

The Governor was the perfect venue for our reception. The Heritage Ballroom, though huge, warmed up beautifully with the lighting and flowers. Jake's Catering provided a delicious menu that we selected through a preview tasting. The chef was excellent when it came to food requests and slight changes. The set-up was flawless and the staff was wonderful regarding service and looking for lost items.

We had a wonderful wedding reception and the governor and Jakes catering provided everything we imagined and more. Multiple guests comment on how delicious the food (especially for volume service) and how engaging the waite staff was to all their needs.
Erin was delightful to work with and help us narrow down the menu and provide for all the extra vendors that made our reception personal. Erin recommend the paparrazzi photograph booth that our guests are still talking about. As a matter of fact, I went to a friends house the other day only to find the photos on their frig. Erin returned phone calls and e-mails in a timely fashion...making organizing the event smooth.
After the fact, we found that due to a communication error, the waite staff went the extra mile to make the room exactly as we requested. There was no hesitation or complaint ~ they just re-did when they discovered an error. Wow~I was so impressed to discover how far they would go to meet my every request.
Naturally, a venue like this is not cheap, but we found it worth every dime.
I can say that should I plan an event like this again...due to no show guests...I had a little more in my budget that could have provided a little something extra for food. That was my error and certainly not a reflection on the governor/jakes. It was just a surprise to me that such specific RSVP's did not accurately reflect our actual attendance.

The team at Jake's Catering at the Sentinel were a dream to work with. We had a holiday wedding, New Years Eve, and the way the pricing worked, the Sentinel (Jake's) was actually cost effective compared to other event venues in Portland. We booked super early (November the year before the wedding). So we worked with them for a long time, they had some staff turnover, but they handled the transitions really well and didn't miss a beat. Everything was great, from the food to the service. The wait staff was incredible, they were so kind and accommodating the whole night. We had a great experience with Jakes and I would recommend Jakes/the Sentinel to any couple looking for a beautiful indoor venue and great food.

I just got married in the Sentinel's Library room this past Saturday. Everyone was in awe of the room- it is so beautiful in it's own right that not many decorations were needed to make it feel perfect. Honestly, all I had to do were the centerpieces and the rest took care of itself. The hotel provided lots of votive candles, and the lighting was quite low, so it was perfect for our fall wedding. Even the dark brown walls, gold ceiling and blue carpet matched with our color scheme.

The food was great. The best man used to be a videographer at weddings, so he's been to a lot of weddings, and he said the food was the best wedding food he's ever had. I was so emotional that I didn't eat much, but what I did eat was amazing!

I worked with Katie in the sales department since I first inquired almost a year ago. She was great and always timely with her responses. I had a lot of questions as I did a lot of my own stuff, but she was super patient and willing to help. Everything was worked out to the tiniest detail. The reason this doesn't get a full 5 stars from me is because the people setting up the room missed two small instructions. They were easy fixes, and the banquet captain the following day made everything perfect.

Having said all that, the venue and food is very expensive. We intentionally had a very small wedding (less than 30 guests) so that we could provide something higher-end. Our guests kept commenting on how beautiful the room was, though, so I do believe it's worth the cost.

Where do I start? Julie and the rest of the staff at Jake's were great. Julie was patient, and answered my million and a half questions. They were flexible in helping us create meals that would work for our guests. The food was better than expected - all our guests were more than satisfied. The entire night went better than expected - the staff was attentive (thank you to our banquet captain Tom!) and the space was beautiful (Governor Ballroom).

Everything went so smoothly - so much so that I would love to get married again just to experience that night over and over!

We held our rehearsal dinner, welcome party the night before our wedding, and a post-wedding Sunday brunch at Sentinel. We had the pleasure of working with Kate to tour the spaces and plan out the events well in advance. She was always professional and quick to respond to us. The event spaces (Renaissance Room and Library Room) were beautiful and set up just how we wanted them. The food and drinks were excellent, and the servers were attentive to our guests' needs.
Additionally, we had a block of rooms for our out of town guests at Sentinel and we worked with Lauren to arrange those. She and her team were also incredibly responsive to our needs, and regularly sent updated lists to us in the weeks leading up to the wedding of which guests had reserved rooms and when they were to be checking in. The rooms were great, the front desk staff went above and beyond to be helpful, and even the valet service was excellent. Our guests loved their stays, and we enjoyed a city terrace suite for ourselves also. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. (In particular, I found this to be a much, much better experience than a good friend of mine recently had for her wedding at The Nines.)

Very experienced and helpful in each step of the process. All the pricing and options were honest and candid. Our contact was professional and easy to work with. I sent her tons of questions and she was always happy to help with a quick response. Finally, they were very flexible. We could meet with our Jake's contact and could tour or meet as often as needed (with parents, coordinator). On the day of our wedding, the staff was friendly and helpful. It was good to have a day-of coordinator on my end to make sure everything was ready to go at our standards because there were a few (minor) issues, but the staff and venue were accommodating.

We picked Jake's Catering at the Sentinel because we couldn't get over how pretty the rooms were. There was a bit of a snafu in the beginning because they quoted us the wrong price for the rooms due to us needing to take down Christmas decorations for our non-Christian late-December wedding, but once we negotiated this part, everything was wonderful. The food was **delicious.** The rooms stunningly beautiful. They worked with me to set up a custom room block, and the guests raved about the hotel. They were open, responsive, sometimes even anticipating my questions and needs. Really great job, overall.

We loved working with Erin Hight and the event team at Jake's Catering for our wedding reception. They were very flexible from the beginning and worked hard to ensure the event was successful. Our wedding day would not have been the same (or so easy for us) without their assistance. The entire team was professional, friendly, and fun to work with planning and carrying out our reception.

You will not find another room with the same wow factor as the Governor ballroom at the Sentinel. It is simply breathtaking. With that said, a room is just a room without the service to accompany it. I was lucky enough to work with Julie at Jake's Catering/Events at the Sentinel and she understood my husband and i as a couple. She knew it was more than just picking the food and all the logistical details, but knew the "vibe" we wanted to go for. Not to mention, we had fun with the entire process. So many people say by the end of planning a wedding "can't wait til' the day just happens so there's no more planning" - well, we had the opposite experience because of the service provided by Julie. We had so much fun enjoying the process!

The wait staff at Jake's....exceptional! They were there when you needed them and not invasive or disruptive at all. They were absolutely professionals!

The chef was almost pregnant and wasn't supposed to be on the clock but came on our wedding night to make sure all was good. Not to mention, she experimented with a new dessert just for us that wasn't on the menu. I am so thankful for her and her thoughtfulness and care to go the extra effort.

I wish i could throw a party there to celebrate our wedding every year :) But since that's not realistic in more ways than one, i have the best memories because of my experience working with Jake's and the catering/event service! So THANK YOU!

My now husband and I fell in love with the Sentinel from the moment we stepped into the lobby. We actually were not planning on getting married in Portland at all, but appeasing my parents by looking into a venue while visiting family for Thanksgiving. We were greeted by Julie, who is incredibly charismatic and an absolute delight to work with. Once she showed us the Governor's Ballroom, we knew that it was the most elegant and reasonably priced venue we would find. We had our ceremony in the Renaissance Room and awed our guests. I would suggest using Chiavarri chairs in that room too if you have a large wedding. We didn't do the food tasting because we live in Seattle, but we were also not disappointed with the food the night of! Everything about our experience at the Sentinel was a dream and I can't say enough about how amazing Julie was to work with!

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Julie Weiss of Jake's catering. Not only was she professional and reliable, but she was fun to work with and made sure that we were well taken care of for our reception. She was a shining star with an already stellar venue, and I can't recommend her enough.

The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. Our reception was in the Governor's Ballroom, the largest space that they have. It is an enormous room with beautifully detailed white walls, pillars, and an elegant blue carpet. The whole room is quite regal. We opted for the venue's table settings, which matched the room's splendor perfectly. We did, however, get our own chairs, which I highly recommend, as the room comes with the standard conference seating selection.

The banquet captain that worked our event, as well as the wait staff were all very professional and expedient. The drinks were good and the food was even better. We received many compliments about both.

Julie worked very well with our other vendors and made sure we had everything we needed. Again, we can't thank her enough for helping to create such a wonderful experience for us.

*The only reason I gave the venue 3.5 stars for value is that it is very expensive. The food is good, but pricey, and the alcohol is overpriced, in my opinion. Since you are locked into Jake's for both alcohol and catering, this is really important to know. Aside from the actual reception (which is technically only through Jake's Catering, not the Sentinel), the hotel rooms in the venue are overpriced compared to similar (or better) rooms downtown. While this is not technically the same business, I think it's worth noting for potential customers as it is the same location.*

This place is not cheap, but is it worth it?
If you have the money, yes.

Julie was great, she worked with us, having an Asian family with strong options was very trying at times but we got trough it.
The venue was amazing and the staff was great!

Just be prepared to pay at pretty high corkage fees, remember that it comes with slandered chairs so you must rent covers or chairs... there are a lot of costs to weddings that you don't think about.

Other than slow responses while planning, everything went great. The day of staff was amazing and the bartender was hilarious! The head server managed the day of catering and she was on top of everything. I was very impressed with the quality of service we received on the wedding day. We are still hearing about how much everyone enjoyed the food and how much fun Lonnie (the bartender) was.

Overall, we had a great experience at the Governor. We used their medium-sized room for our reception and two other rooms came with it for a bar and the buffet. The food was good, for the price. The service was OK, but not spectacular. We had to manage them a lot in the planning process; I did not feel like they seemed as experienced at doing an event of this type as I would have liked. This was in 2005, so things may have changed. In the end, it went well and we were very pleased. It was great to have our reception in a nice hotel that's still reasonably priced so that our guests could enjoy staying there, too.

The venue was great. The catering staff was wonderful, on the spot and very helpful. The only negative I really could say was that they were used to doing things the way they always do. And if your creative, its hard to get them to set up anything out of the box.

Erin with Jake's Catering is great. Just make sure the actual catering team doesn't throw away things from your tables that you want your guests to keep, i.e menu cards, wedding favors, etc.... Food is awesome and venue is gorgeous!!!

Aside from a gorgeous ballroom, dealing with the Governor Hotel and Jake's Catering was a complete disaster on every possible front during the planning phase. Unforunately, clients are required to use Jake's at the Governor. Jake's is the furtherst away from accommodating on simple things like meetings and important things like the tasting- we came for a meeting and they had prepared some choices based on their preference. When we asked if we could try some alternatives, they said they were not available until we coincidentally saw the Chef who was actually quite helpful. With that said, the food and service on the wedding day was great.
The service at the Governor Hotel is also terrible- thankfully they were bought out and a makeover to their attitudes is underway.
