Absolutely excellent

Gerry was such a dream to work with. Kind, helpful and an incredibly positive demeanor, he put my husband and I at ease through the whole process. He was accommodating to us being out of town and really made our ceremony special. I would absolutely recommend Gerry to anyone getting married in the Greater New Orleans area. Rev. Jerry made our small and intimate ceremony quite nice and low stress. He met us at the site on time and with little pre-planning information. Jerry also made suggestions and led the ceremony vows, which made our day even easier and more stress free.

If you're looking for an officiant, look no further. Rev. Dr. Schumm was absolutely wonderful! We had a destination wedding in New Orleans and he made us feel so comfortable preparing for the ceremony. He answered all our questions and was very patient. Our ideal officiant!

We were really clueless about all aspects of what was involved in a wedding ceremony and how it progressed. Reverend Schumm was so helpful. He met with us several times and walked us through the process. He helped us personalize our ceremony while also maintaining a traditional format. He helped us explore all options that we could include in our ceremony and answered our questions. During the ceremony, he kept us at ease with his calm presence and guided us through every step of the ceremony. He is a very open person, very easy to talk to, and makes everyone feel welcome. He also has a great sense of humor and a love of life. He was ideal as our wedding officiant.

Dr. Schumm was so wonderful to work with! He's so personable and he makes planning a ceremony fun and easy. He offers great suggestions and advice and we absolutely loved working with him. We had a lot of questions and he took the time to answer all of them with great detail. Dr. Schumm calmed our nerves during the rehearsal so that we were prepared for the ceremony itself. The best!

If you are having any reservations about hiring Dr. Jerry Schumm then fear not! He was beyond amazing!! I really felt like he genuinely wanted to get to know us and wanted every little detail covered. Prior to the wedding day he was very easy to communicate. As a bride, we want answers now...and he was perfect! The wedding rehearsal went off without a hitch, he had great input into the flow of the wedding. He impressed my family, he looked professional, spoke well and was super likeable!! The wedding day, he looked sharp! he wore his traditional church wear. He spoke clearly, he wasn't chessy like I've seen at weddings, he made sure to capture the moment of how I wanted our wedding to play out. I wanted romance and love and he stuck to that. I cant say anything bad about Dr. Jerry. My dad LOVEEDDD him (which says a lot). He kept me calm before and during the ceremony. The little touches he added and the calm demeanor realllyyyy helped me. You don't realize how much an officiant can make or break a ceremony and he was awesome!! I love him!

Jerry was fantastic to work with and gave us a great wedding ceremony. He made time to really discuss every aspect of the ceremony ahead of time and gave us many options to tailor our ceremony to our needs. Rev. Jerry, Should be number one, on everyone list. He was great during our ceremony, he was very accommodating also. We had to move our wedding date for health reasons and he understood and made it easy for us. He will give you example and ideas if your unsure of what you want during your ceremony. He has a good sense of humor and an honest kind heart. He is very responsive and listens to concerns and needs. He was very easy to get to know and talk too. We loved him and we could not picture anyone else doing our ceremony. We are grateful to have him be part of our day.

We can’t say enough about Pastor Jerry! He was so hopeful throughout the whole planning process, even when I made a last minute change about our wedding vows. Our ceremony was absolutely beautiful and he somehow managed to make it feel completely personalized even though we had never even met! Dr Schumm was great. He responded to all of our questions quickly. He had great suggestions. Very friendly and easy going. Was on time to every meeting. We got married on the beach in Bay St. Louis in May with Dr. Schumm officiating. He was so pleasant to work with. He tailored our wedding exactly like we asked and his personal comments made it seem like he knew us very well. You can't go wrong choosing him, he was awesome!

Dr Jerry and his lovely wife were an absolute delight. Ours was a very small wedding, yet he made us feel like we were the royal couple. We wanted to use a number of verses from scripture as part of the vows. Dr Jerry took those verses and put them into the service so seamlessly that it seemed as though it had always been a part of the service. We would highly recommend Dr Jerry for any wedding from the smallest to the biggest.

Rev. Dr. Schumm did an amazing job! Everything went so smoothly, and we couldn't have been happier! Our reception had its hiccups, but with Dr. Schumm as our officiant, the ceremony was perfect. After the first minute of the ceremony, I could tell he really had it all under control, I hardly had to think about what to do next. It made it so much easier to relax and think about the important things, like our love and the big commitment we were making. During the rehearsal, he told us exactly what we needed to know, no more & no less. It made everyone's part in the ceremony easy as pie. I was wondering how I would turn a blank slate of an outdoor wedding into the real deal, and Dr. Schumm's professional experience really made it happen. We talked on the phone before the ceremony a few times, and he kept us on track with what we needed to accomplish and when. Talking with Dr. Schumm felt like talking with family, and it was nice to finally meet him in person on the big weekend. I would defeinitely recommend him! Thanks again, Dr. Schumm!

I'm so glad we stumbled across Rev. Dr. Shumm when we were perusing the internet to find the perfect officiant! He was fast to respond to our initial inquiry and throughout the planning process we were able to get in touch with him easily via email or phone. My fiance and I met Dr. Shumm at a coffee shop for a meet and greet a few months before the wedding. He has done so many weddings and seen so many variations on tradition which made him the perfect person to help my fiance and I figure out what we wanted in our ceremony. After we figured out what we did and didn't want in the ceremony, he sent me a step by step itinerary which was invaluable when it came to creating a program for the big day. On rehearsal day we had a last minute change in plans as there was a wedding booked where we were going to rehearse and Dr. Shumm was able to come an hour early. He was very warm, knowledgeable and available throughout the process and the ceremony was comfortable and seamless. I would recommend him to anyone getting married in the local area!

Rev. Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Schumm officiated our October 2016 wedding in Hillsboro, Missouri. We were looking for a low key, family oriented wedding. When we spoke over the phone, "Jerry" knew exactly what we were looking for! Since we both had children previously, Jerry thought of a "unity ceremony" which brought the children into our vows. This unity ceremony was a surprise for our families. Our guests said it was a highlight and very moving.

Dr. Jerry Schumm is great. He was very caring and helpful before our big day. Look no further ! While I was hesitant to have someone perform My wedding that I had never met, I am Extremely satisfied with Rev. Schumm. Cant say enough kind words. My Husband & I were married at the Ritz Carlton New Orleans in August 2016. Rev Schumm was very professional, well spoken & kind. He returned my first phone call within minutes. He took his time & explained the entire process of how the ceremony would go. He asked for My input or special request. My entire family enjoyed his presence. We are a Catholic family, but we weren't having our wedding in a church, so We needed to have a minister perform the ceremony- He made it very personal with A Beautiful blessing. We had a late summer wedding & I was so excited to see Rev. Schumm dressed in a traditional southern seersucker suit for our big day. Have no doubts with having him perform your Ceremony, you will not be disappointed. Not a thing to worry about. Definitely A 5 star +++

Dr. Schumm was very friendly and helpful, and went to great lengths to ensure that we had all of the information and details we needed. My fiancee (now spouse) and I were planning a small destination wedding in New Orleans from Colorado when we reached out to Dr. Schumm. He spoke to us on the phone several times in the months leading up to the ceremony, gave us great suggestions for venues, and offered other tips about the city to help plan our stay. He was very respectful and honored our requests for the things we did and didn't want during the ceremony.

My husband and I are so glad that we discovered and chose Dr. Jerry! He is so so nice, patient, helpful, and understanding. I was so stressed out by the process of the wedding ceremony and not exactly knowing how it was going to go, but Dr. Jerry made everything so easy and understanding. Doc Schumm (as we all called him at the school we taught in together) couldn't have been the more perfect officiant for our wedding! I still remember his words he used during the ceremony. We wanted a nondenominational ceremony, with a hint of Judaism (for my mom)! Doc did an awesome job with the "breaking of the glass!"
And the best part was that he and his wife celebrated with us at the Reception too...even though their car was packed up and ready for the drive to Mississippi the next morning!

When my future wife first reached out to Dr. Schumm, he was the first officiant we spoke to. Only after a few minutes of phone conversation, I turned to my wife and gave her a thumbs out that he was our guy. Dr. Jerry is an unbelievably kind man who was very helpful throughout the process. On the wedding day itself he organized the ceremony perfectly and was able to give us a beautiful and memorable day.

We highly recommend Dr. Schumm for anybody looking for the best officiant in the New Orleans and Gulf Coast area. Thank you again Dr. Jerry for everything you did for us.

Jerry provided officiant services for our wedding at the Ritz-Carlton in NOLA. Our initial officiant had to cancel a couple weeks out because of health issues and we’re so happy we were able to find Jerry on wedding wire. We really wanted to find an officiant who was able to match our style and not just bring their own way of doing things. Jerry took the time to speak to both of us separately and learn our about us as individuals. He participated in the rehearsal which was a huge help. We both were obviously nervous about how everything was going to come together after over a year of planning. Jerry became the glue that held everything together. His experience and mild manner brought a sense of calm and peace over both the rehearsal and the ceremony. I strongly recommend using Jerry for your upcoming rehearsal and ceremony.

I can't say enough about Jerry Schumm as a wedding officiant! We had our wedding on a Thursday, and couldn't get everyone together for a rehearsal. Jerry was able to meet with us early at the venue the morning of the wedding to do a brief rehearsal with just my husband and I. With that short meeting, he was able to keep the ceremony flowing flawlessly. He is an absolute professional, and I couldn't imagine having anyone else marry us. I would 100% recommend Jerry a thousand times over!

Rev. Jerry Schumm made my wedding day extremely special. He is easy-going and has lots of great ideas to help ceremonies go smoothly. I recommended him to a friend las year and she said the same thing. I wouldn't have known what exactly to do or where to start with my ceremony without him!

Dr. Schumm was great - we had a last minute issue with our original officiant and he was able to work with us even though we were only two or three months out from the wedding when we first contacted him. We're not religious, and he was flexible with the ceremony.

We had a destination wedding in Vacherie, Louisiana as we had visited there in the past and thought the area was beautiful. We contacted a couple different officiants via telephone but were unable to meet them based on the distance from our home in San Diego, CA. We looked at a few different websites but they all looked professional and were all basically equal so we decided to go off of our telephone conversations. Dr. Jerry Schumm was professional, he was lighthearted, he sounded like a people person... just what we wanted. I assure you that who he is and what he says over the phone is exactly what you get! Dr. Schumm spoke with us extensively over the phone to ensure our ceremony was exactly what we wanted, he met the groom early at the venue on the day of our wedding, he went over all the steps before hand, asked if we needed to change anything and then proceeded to deliver a beautiful ceremony. He spoke to our family, he had an assertive presence, a clear and sincere speaking voice and a personal touch. We could not have hoped for or found a better officiant. We'd absolutely choose him again and will probably look him up to say hello the next time we are in the area!

Finding the right wedding officiant was one of the most challenging parts of planning our wedding. We were close to giving up hope, we found Rev Jerry. On our first meeting, Rev Jerry took the time to get to know me and my husband. He helped us develop a personalized wedding ceremony and find the right passages and vows for us. Throughout the process he never judged us on religious preferences or dismissed any of our requests to blend our cultures. For the rehearsal and big day, Rev Jerry arrived early and he made sure to leave enough time between other weddings, which helped us stay right on track for timing (I have heard horror stories of other officiants being late or not showing up). Rev Jerry was funny, personable, thoughtful, a true professional and I know you’ll love him for your wedding!

We were honored to have Jerry Schumm serve as the minister at our wedding in Chicago. Jerry communicated with us by email and phone to help personalize our ceremony. He provided the structure and guideline, and we added our vows and readings. His manner is very warm and personable, and he made us feel at ease. Mr. Jerry was the perfect officiant for our ceremony. He was incredibly accommodating and personable. He made both sides of our family (upon meeting him for the very first time), feel at ease and knowledgeable about the ceremony expectations. The bride's side of the family had a very traditional, religious perspective of a wedding. The groom's side of the family came from a more non religious viewpoint. Mr. Jerry did an INCREDIBLE job of blending those two sides. As the bride, I felt that my wedding had the ideal touch of spirituality, sincerity, personable touches, and length. It felt sincere. On top of that, Mr. Jerry was on time and kept us calm and organized. I could not have picked a more fitting officiant to make our ceremony more special. Reverend Jerry Schumm helped make our interfaith wedding absolutely perfect! From our initial meetings to the ceremony itself, he was thoughtful, kind and respectful of my husband's Jewish culture. He worked closely with our rabbi to interweave both traditions and provided a ceremony that was not only deeply meaningful, but also innovative and intimate. You can tell that he enjoys working with couples and is completely down-to-earth. I wholeheartedly recommend Rev. Schumm. He is truly the best of the best!

Reverend Dr. Jerry Schumm officiated our wedding on June 27, 2014. My husband and I are incredibly thankful for his role in helping our dreams come true. Jerry did an incredible and beautiful job with all aspects of our ceremony, despite the fact that we were not at all well versed or prepared on all things wedding related. We met Jerry prior to the ceremony and spoke about what we wanted out of the ceremony. During this consultation Jerry informed us of what his experiences have been with other brides and grooms and helped us devise a plan for our wedding day. On our wedding day, he went above and beyond executing this plan to the point where my husband and I did not have to worry about anything other than arriving. Jerry made sure that everyone involved in the wedding party knew exactly where to be, what to do, and when to do it. Not only that, but Jerry composed an incredibly touching and joyous speech that to this day our family speaks about. Things are never truly perfect in this world, but Jerry really made us feel as though our ceremony and wedding day was. We are forever grateful.

Jerry brings so much experience with all sorts of couples and families, so he helped my husband and I develop our wedding ceremony to suit us perfectly. He was able to really understand where we were coming from and what we wanted. He guided us and our wedding party with such sincerity, kindness and patience, humor, and love. He's just really an awesome guy. Having him as our officiant was one of the best highlights of our wedding day!

Bill and I had been together for twenty years when we asked Jerry to marry us. We wanted it to be just the two of us and no fuss. Jerry suggested a simple ceremony at sundown on a dock over the Intracoastal Waterway. It was a magical moment!

We're so pleased that Jerry was able to officiate our wedding in New Orleans, and it all went perfectly. Jerry has a genuine interest in people and couples and is eager to understand what is important to an engaged couple. We had a long discussion about what we were looking for and why. He was able to provide suggestions for readings and we agreed together how the ceremony was going to work.

His experience was evident as he guided us through the rehearsal with wit and humor. The ceremony went smoothly without a hitch (or with one :D). Highly recommend.

Dr. Schumm was very helpful and responsive in assisting with planning our wedding ceremony. He offered the right balance of asking what we wanted and how we pictured our ceremony going, while also giving also helpful ideas to consider and practical suggestions. Our ceremony truly felt like us, but only thanks to talking through all aspects with Dr Schumm ahead of time. The weekend of, he was on time/early to both the rehearsal and the wedding, and worked with our venue coordinator, day-of coordinator, and the band to make sure everything went smoothly. Only hiccup was that during the ceremony, he did start to skip through the second reading, but we were able to hit pause and back up so that it was not missed entirely. Just make sure you fully document exactly how you plan the ceremony to go, and that your documentation is in agreement, and you should not have a problem! He handled the filing of the marriage certificate for us, and we received everything in a timely manner, as well as a nice note from him in the mail. Overall, a great wedding officiant who really listened to what felt best for us.

Dr. Jerry STOLE OUR MONEY! We paid him in full for services in June of 2017. On 10/20/2017 he said he wasn’t officiating our wedding and would refund our $300 by 10/27/2017. On 11/1/2017 I called to touch base about the refund and he was rude, dismissive and let us know he was not returning the funds. We recorded our chat with him on 10/20 as well as 11/1 and are now having to look into civil litigation to get our $300 back and any legal fees and court costs. He is a mean ugly man who’s lied and stolen from a couple 3 days before their wedding day of 11/4/2017. He should not be allowed to continue these practices. And he certainly shouldn’t be allowed to advertise on sites such as this.
