Breathtaking
Heinz chapel: Corinne Bechtel Heinz Chapel Coordinator (412)624-4157
Fantastic to work with, ask for Brynne Bashioum for your wedding coordinator the day of she was amazing. They block the road for parking and have police security as well. They have a bridal suit downstairs and a groom suit upstairs.-

They're simply best!
They have a reputation for running a tight ship and they do not disappoint! All of the ladies at Heinz were responsive and great to work with throughout the planning process. They answered all of our questions and ran a smooth production the day of our wedding. -

Amazing memory
As two Pitt grads, we have always dreamed of having our wedding ceremony at the famous Heinz chapel - and it truly lived up to the hype. During the hay day of covid, we were disappointed with how harsh the restrictions on capacity were and ended up changing to a later date. Thankfully in July we were allowed to have all the guests we wanted, no face masks when walking down the aisle, and an overall amazing experience. Melissa and her team were great to work with and ran our rehearsal and day of seamlessly. We are so glad we waited to have it at Heinz chapel because it really made the day special.

Beautiful ceremony
I want to thank Corinne, Bill, and the rest of the staff for making my ceremony run perfectly. I was pretty stressed out and unorganized as the days inched closer to my wedding. Corinne was super patience, answered my questions, and provided feedback that helped me make decisions to make the day go smooth. Bill was also helpful with giving me suggestions with my music and coordinating with my pop pop's song for the wedding. I am forever grateful for their assistance.
My family and friends continue to compliment that my ceremony was beautiful. My husband and I are not big on decorating and heinz chapel was perfect for us. The chapel was absolutely beautiful.-

Five stars!
The venue speaks for itself! I graduated from Pitt, so it was so special to have our wedding here! Most of our guests were from out of town and had never been to Pittsburgh and they were blown away by how beautiful the chapel was! I planned the entire wedding myself from California, where I now live. The staff made it so easy and were so well-organized. They stick to a strict time schedule and were very professional. Corinne was our coordinator and she was awesome to work with! She listed to all of our ideas and helped make sure everything ran smoothly during the rehearsal and on the day of the wedding. The organ music was incredible too! I really cannot say enough great things and couldn't be happier! What an awesome memory to be married in such a beautiful place! -

Our wedding ceremony at Heinz Chapel was truly stunning. The space is one-of-a-kind and spectacular, and from the moment we toured it, we knew we had to get married there! The planning process with Wendy was so easy, and Sharon, our ceremony coordinator, was so organized and enthusiastic. She made sure to deal with every single difference in our ceremony with grace and elegance – from uneven numbers of bridesmaids and groomsmen, to my brother (a groomsmen) escorting bridesmaids to where they would stand and running to the back of the church to walk me down the aisle, to an a cappella group singing in the middle of the ceremony. We are so pleased with our experience with their team. Our wedding was also on a Friday, so we did not feel rushed out of the space at all.
The best part of the whole day was that the garden right next to the chapel, which has been under construction since last year when we booked the space, opened specially on our wedding day. We were the first couple who was able to take pictures in the garden, which made it incredibly intimate. We loved our experience! Photo credit to Meredith McKee Photography! -

One of the most beautiful places in Pittsburgh to get married in! You don't get a lot of time in the Chapel, but if your ceremony is straightforward without a lot of fluff, you won't have any issues. We didn't. The staff is great to work with and really know what they are doing. I never felt rushed and even though they do multiple wedding every weekend, they make you feel like yours is the only one that day. I'm very happy with our choice to have our wedding there! -

We did not have a wedding planner and we only had time to plan our wedding for a month! Karyn was our wedding coordinator and even though we hadn't spoken a lot of times before the wedding, she (and everyone from the chapel) made everything as seamless and as smooth as possible. Everything was well coordinated and the smallest details were well taken cared of. They were all very professional and the ceremony started on time! :) -

I lucked out and got the 4:30 ceremony time at The Heinz Chapel. When I had quesetions, they were prompt to reply and/or return my phone calls. They do have a high volume of weddings on Saturday's but I still felt like I had plenty of time for my ceremony and photos. The Chapel is breathtaking inside and the organ sounds amazing! -

My wedding at Heinz Chapel was BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT. I will start off by saying that I had the rehearsal from hell, but it was not Heinz Chapel's fault. My officiant is crazy and wanted us to get married at the altar where the cross is, not the lower section. Nobody ever does weddings like this and I wasn't having it. To make a long story short, we got into an argument and my officiant walked out. Karen is the sweetest and most comforting woman I've ever met. I thought my pastor wasn't going to show up for my wedding so I'm hysterical and they are reassuring me over and over that my wedding will be perfect and they will make sure of it. My maid of honor was texting Karen throughout the night and Karen was telling her that she had called some pastors as a back up in case mine didn't show. She went above and beyond what her job asks of her. My pastor did show up and apologized. I'm still angry with her but Karen gave me a big hug at the end of my ceremony, she knew how much I had gone through. I want to cry thinking about my ceremony, they are such wonderful coordinators and the church is just breathtaking! -

We absolutely loved having our ceremony at Heinz Chapel! It's breathtaking! Karen & Wendy were fantastic and coordinated our wedding to perfection. You are not allotted much time in the chapel for the rehearsal or the ceremony, but they move things along perfectly so that you get everything in that you need to without feeling rushed. Having a longer ceremony might decrease the amount of time you have for pictures afterwards, but we found it to be perfect for us with a 25 minute ceremony.
p.s. If considering Heinz, I would suggest looking at their guidelines well in advance of deciding on any decorations, photographers, videographers, etc. Also consider the parking! -

Our wedding was beautiful, the staff- especially Tom Meisner- are absolutely the most incredible and professional people in the world, and it was very meaningful to my husband, who is the Pitt grad in our family.
That said- Heinz Memorial Chapel is well known in Pittsburgh as a beautiful wedding venue- and it certainly is- but you must be prepared to deal with certain limitations when you decide to be married there. (Unless of course, you booked two time slots, which would double your cost - something we opted not to do.)
When you book a time slot for your wedding- they are very clear on how much time you will be given at the Chapel. You can not go over this time. This generally means no receiving line, and slightly rushed formal photos.
This was a little tricky for us as we're Roman Catholic- we didn't have a full Mass- just a ceremony. While we were fine (and still are) with our decision- this may not be the best for many couples who can't or won't fit their wedding ceremony into the allotted time.
I'd recommend it to anyone - if they were willing to deal with the time limits - we were more than happy to - our wedding was beautiful and meaningful, and in an absolutely perfect chapel.

If you are fortunate enough to qualify to be married at Heinz Chapel (Pitt alumni or Heinz employees), I highly recommend that you take advantage of the opportunity! Your wedding ceremony will be special wherever you hold it, but Heinz is a breathtaking location. I cannot describe the atmosphere and beauty of the Chapel accurately. My husband voted the Chapel as the key to our wedding and he is so glad we decided to travel the hour south to have our wedding there.
The staff at the Chapel are extremely helpful! You can stop in during normal hours and tell them you are getting married there--or plan to get on the list to be married there and they will give you a special tour of the bride's & groom's rooms and let you past the velvet rope to stand at the altar! They will also show you the various seating arrangments for your attendants and different ways to walk down the aisle.
During the rehearsal, the staff was very calm and sweet. They also let us do some things they had never had done in the church before and were extremely generous. The week of the wedding, our coordinator called me and went over the order of procession and seating, etc. She also checked on a couple things for me and called me right back.
The ceremony went extremely well and our coordinator Anita was very calm, helpful, and nice.
In a place that holds over 500 weddings annually, the staff made our day feel especially special and important! -

It had been my daughter's dream to have her wedding at Heinz Memorial Chapel since she was a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh.
I will admit that we weren't too keen on the idea at first - all of the family and friends live at least an hour away from Pittsburgh. And calling and calling and calling a year in advance to reserve a time slot at the Chapel is a very stressful experience. And you are on a very tight schedule for the rehearsal and wedding.
But the Chapel is so incredibly beautiful and the wedding coordinators Anita and Jackie were so kind and helpful. And Steven, the organist was just phenomenal.
My daughter and son-in-law had the fairy tale wedding of their dreams at Heinz Memorial Chapel. My son-in-law remarked that it was just so wonderful to have the wedding there. Guests were awestruck at the architecture and the grandeur of the Chapel.

We absolutely LOVED getting married at Heinz Chapel!!! Picking & reserving a date can be very nerve-racking, especially due to the high volume of calls received, however we got the date we wanted and were so excited!! There is a time restriction, but that was okay for us. Our wedding coordinator was Tom Meisner and he was incredible. He was so helpful and thorough, and answered every question we had. Any concerns I had before that day, he took care of. I had absolutely no concerns about how things would go that day. Tom had everything under control! The chapel is absolutely gorgeous and the organ music is amazing. The chapel makes for a great background in pictures as well! Even with only an hour for the ceremony & pictures, we got everything done in plenty of time. It was the best! -

The location for our ceremony was absolutely beautiful. You have to be affiliated with The University of Pittsburgh to use this ceremony site. It is also extremely hard to reserve your date because they only have so many time slots available and it is such a populate location. It's also a bit procey, but in my opinion, worth every penny. It makes for some beautiful wedding photos. -

This venue was just spectacular. It has the feel of a cathedral but is small enough so that even if you don't have alot of guests, the place looks filled with people. When I booked, a wedding coordinator from the chapel was assigned to my wedding and he was amazing. All the stress was lifted off of me when he took charge of the rehearsal and wedding day. He listened to what I wanted and made it happen with professionalism and courtesy. I had a large wedding party comprising some difficutlt personalities and he handled everybody with ease. The organist did a great job and was on the moment perfect in his playing. Most of my wedding guests were out of towners for wedding guests and they were blown away by the architecture and windows. The timeframe of a single slot rental was a bit tight and that too should be noted. I had to drop a song, a reading, and not have a receiving line in order to fit the timeframe rented and to allow time for pictures. But despite having to shorten up the ceremony, it was worth it. Plus, the fact that it is a nondeminational chapel suited the fact that we come from different faiths and the chapel served as neutral religious ground for our respective families who are strong in their differing faiths. What I also liked about the place too was that my videographer, Peter Wolffe, was affiliated with the chapel and was able to use the fixed cameras to the walls of the chapel. Those cameras allowed for full video coverage without having a large camera in our faces during the ceremony. We were nervous and excited enough and the discretness of the cameras eased that extra tension that would have been there. I also liked how this place has a calendar on their website so you can see what days and times are available and which time slots around you would be taken if you chose that day and time. Since I wasn't going to wait a year to get married, that calendar helped me alot with setting the date. It is a pricy venue when compared to other places and it was absolutely worth every penny. Sometimes you have to know when to spend because in the end you do get what you paid for. I am so happy with this choice and highly recommend this place. -

I LOVED the ceremony!!!! The location is PERFECT- stained glass, stone floors, carved wooden pews. They are 100% flexible about religious/civil services- anything you want to include or omit from the ceremony is fine with them. The coordinator was the little Italian mother I never had and kept everyone in line (including the groom's friends) and I didn't have to be bridezilla!! Everything was seamless. The only drawback for whoever is reading this is that either the bride or groom needs to be a University of Pittsburgh Alum. -

We just had our wedding at Heinz Chapel and it was AMAZING. It was gorgeous in there and I doubt there is a ceremony venue that can hold a candle to Heinz Chapel. Our wedding coordinator Sharon was incredible! She made the day go by perfectly with no hiccups (even when our flower girl got massive stage fright). She kept us calm and on target all day and we were SO thankful to have her. -

My husband and I dreamed of being married at Heinz Chapel since we both went to Pitt. We had mostly good experiences with them, but they are very strict on time and scheduling as they run a tight ship. Because of this, they are extremely organized and information with deadlines is sent to you shortly after you book them. The location is unbeatable and the fact that it comes with an organist makes it well worth the money.
Our negative experience comes from the fact that the phone lines were not working on the day that I called, so I spent 45 minutes calling from two different phones hoping I would get through and be able to book our day. While I understand not all of this was under their control, it was extremely stressful! In addition, because their time line is so strict, my family did not feel prepared after the rehersal and there were still a lot of questions that went unanswered that we had to just "go with the flow" on the big day. I also missed out on getting photographs of my extended family on the altar because we were shooed out out the door for a tour that was coming in after us.
These minor things are just that - minor. Having our ceremony at Heinz Chapel was a dream come true and I could not imagine marrying my now husband in any other venue that this. We will cherish this chapel forever. -

Gorgeous Chapel but Tight Time!
As a Pitt alumni, I knew this was the chapel I wanted to get for my wedding day. My now husband and I were engaged in summer of 2019 and immediately called Heinz to book. However, their booking process is extremely competitive and unique. We were looking for November of 2021 (two + years in advance) and weren’t able to book until November of 2019 as they only book two years out. November 1st came and first thing in the morning when they opened (8AM) we called to a busy tone. We had a date and time in mind and once we finally got though, we were shocked to find out that the person before us actually booked the exact same date and time we wanted! We needed to modify to a new weekend so we could have the time of day we wanted and schedule. As the day came, they only give you a very short window of time to get in, get married, and get out. We were married at 2:30PM and had access to the chapel from 2-3:45. Thankfully we had a pretty short ceremony and didn’t need all the time and was still able to get ample photos around the grounds. The team and workers are extremely wonderful and helpful, even with covid restrictions in place and mask mandates. We went with their organist for simplicity reasons which was able to play most of the classic songs we wanted. We are so thankful to have this as a core memory of our special day and wouldn’t have changed a thing, just be prepared and be flexible when considering your day in mind! -

Heinz Memorial Chapel is one of the most magical places to get married. It is absolutely stunning inside, from the pipe organ to the stained glass to the intricate woodwork. We had a fantastic ceremony.
The price is steep, and you absolutely need to call as soon as they're open. I suggest having you and a few friends call to up your chances. Also, don't plan on anything long and involved; they have a strict time schedule, and you need to be out by their allotted time. This means, no receiving lines, although the pictures are more than worth it.
You won't need ribbons for the pews or extensive flower arrangements; everything is perfect as-is.
The coordinators are very nice and make the rehearsal and day-of process go smoothly. They were willing to work with us about setting up a webcast feed for my in-laws who unfortunately couldn't make it, although we weren't able to get good wireless web reception inside.
Make sure to make arrangements for parking. I suggest just making people use the meter parking; it's only $0.75 an hour, and they won't be there for longer than 2 hours. If you have a ton of people coming, you can rent parking space along the one avenue there, but if it's a regular moderate wedding, let them fend for themselves. Soldier's and Sailor's Hall is just up the street.
Overall, if you have the money to spend (and are from Pitt, or have a relative from there), this is more than worth it. -

We had a wonderful time at Heinz Chapel. The wedding was beautiful and the staff was easy to work with. -

Beautiful ceremony site
My husband and I met at Pitt and wanted our wedding to take place on campus. I had always thought Heinz Chapel was so beautiful and couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. The pictures of the day are amazing, the organist was very talented, and the music was breathtaking. It is very unfortunate that you have a limited time at the chapel and everything is rushed. We were lucky enough to get a good time (330) but other ceremonies are at such awkward times that your reception will either be before a normal dinner time or late in the night. If you are not concerned with the length and flexibility of your ceremony and want somewhere beautiful, Heinz Chapel is perfect!-

I was so happy to have our ceremony here. This is truly a unique venue and there really isn't anything like it in Pittsburgh. I worked with Amy, she was very responsive to all of our questions and even talked my fiancee through some suggestions on how to seat his large family. The chapel is gorgeous and your guests who haven't been here before will be impressed.
I would only recommend this venue for couples who are willing to be very limited on time for the ceremony and photos. The staff here are wonderful and really good at what they do but they will tell you when your time is up. The time really flew by - our ceremony was only 25 minutes but the photos took a lot longer than I anticipated. If you aren't on top of your day-of timing, this venue may stress you out. -

The chapel is obviously beautiful and definitely worth booking. I did have to wait on the phone for roughly an hour to book it and I had five different lines calling. I didn't get my first two choices of time (4:30 and 2:30) but did get the 6:30 time, which ended up being very nice. The rumors are true that they are very strict with time, but really it is enough for pictures in the chapel and you can be out on the lawn taking pictures until whenever. Unfortunately though I was chosen to be on "Four Weddings" but Heinz Chapel would not allow third party cameras, so I was unable to be on the show because of this venue. That sucked, but i still liked the chapel a lot and the pictures turned out beautifully. -

The chapel is stunning. The venue made you feel as if you are in a fairytale. It's not to big to make you feel lost. The coordinators are so kind and really working to make your wedding perfect. The only complaint I had was the flexibility. It is very regimented. It is worth it. -

It was my dream since I was little to get married here. It was a gorgeous ceremony and I loved every minute of it. The only reason that Im giving it an A- is because of the coordinator, Thomas. I know they need to be a little pushy because of time restraints and such, but he was a little ridiculous. He told us to be there at 4:30 for the rehearsal so we could get started. Well, the other wedding was still there when we got there and then ran over into our time slot. He then rushed through our rehearsal to make up for it. He always wanted during the ceremony to turn and face the audience two different times. (Not an easy thing to do with an 10ft train and 12ft veil, luckily my pastor changed all that the next day for us.) And lastly, I didnt want anyone to see before I walked down the aisle so a BM went to get the student coordinator to let us in the side entrance. Well, Thomas said no one was there and to come in the front. Well, there was my entire family standing there plus guests starting to walk in. -

Beautiful chapel, but staff was strict and kicked us out before finishing wedding photos when no one was after us.
We fell in love with the chapel the moment we stepped foot inside. The organ music and the chapel itself are unparalleled. However, I was extremely disappointed with the strict timeline on the day of the wedding. The Heinz Chapel coordinator rushed me giving me only a few minutes in the bridal suite and then she brought me up from the bridal suite before my guests even finished arriving and I had to continually duck behind my bridesmaids so no one would see me as they entered. Furthermore, I was most upset that they did not allow us to finish our photos inside the Chapel. Once the clock struck ‘midnight’ aka the end of our allotted hour, they kicked us out. My photographers and I tried reasoning with them to allow me a few minutes of photos as this is a once in a lifetime day and they had no events after our wedding and they refused, I was very disappointed in this and will never get those moments back and will not have the pictures I so longed for and dreamed of having. They even refused letting us take photos outside of the chapel. -

Heinz Chapel was BEAUTIFUL! The organist did a wonderful job and everything went off without a hitch! The staff books multiple weddings each day so they have a very rigid timeline for the ceremony and the rehearsal, but it is worth it for such a pretty venue. Its also GREAT that they work with ministers of many faiths. -

Uptight with Time/Parking
Beautiful place to have a wedding, but very strict with time and parking. There is very limited time to take photos in and outside the chapel, which can add some stress to the wedding day. I did not appreciate being told in the middle of pictures that my family memebers had to move their cars when they were parked along the street reserved by the chapel. I understand we were allotted a certain amount of time, but it was completely rude to interrupt the family photo to announce we needed to move cars immediately. I would be more understanding if there was another wedding after ours, but we were the last wedding of the day. Also, because we were the last wedding of the day they could have at least allowed our elderly grandparents to sit inside away from the chilly weather during pictures, but instead they shut the doors on us. I hope in the future Heinz Chapel will consider allowing some negotiation when it comes to how long you can use the chapel for and be a bit more courteous and flexible when it comes to accommodating guests. -

Heinz Chapel is beautiful & the organist was talented. Be warned-they are not accommodating, booking is difficult, and they do not honor what is said prior to booking. We asked to start 15 mins prior to their set ceremony start schedule –this was ok prior to booking but not after. We had 3 coordinators-2 within the week of the wedding, the last at our rehearsal. Matt and Chris(not sure if correct name) ran our rehearsal-I had to remind some specifics but it was good to go. Matt assured there would be time for pictures stating if 5 mins was needed at the end it would be ok(I was concerned). The female attendant-didn’t catch her name-was asked several times to move out of the background of some pictures-causing us to retake them. Upon leaving the chapel grounds-w/o 1 pic we wanted-to take pictures in the Cathedral of Learning this female yelled from the steps to get off the property and move cars. We stopped, turned and my husband checked his watch as it flipped to the exact minute of our chapel end time. We explained we didn’t have cars parked and were leaving-only stopped due to her yelling-this didn’t stop her from continuing to yell. We felt as though we were trespassers being threatened to have the police called-not the feeling you want right after saying your “I dos”. Chris ran after us-asked about any vehicles remaining which we explained again if anything it would only be the limo-we thought he had moved-any other vehicles would be from the next wedding- there were guests around the chapel that we didn’t know. Her unwarranted, unprofessional behavior left us on a bad note. This was upsetting, it took me a few minutes to calm and continue with pictures at the Cathedral of Learning. This treatment was unwarranted-we were respectful to her and our time slot-not trying to push into the next slot in any way. Matt and Chris were easy to work with and professional-we would work w/them again without hesitation-we cannot say the same for their female colleague. -

Horrible experience
Our videographer went above and beyond dealing with unresponsive and rude staff at Heinz Chapel, and did his best despite their incompetence and lack of planning regarding wifi and audio. However, Heinz refused to work with us for live stream audio and it ended up being completely inaudible. The chapel director, Karen, refused to work with us to find creative yet covid-safe solutions. I even followed up to provide feedback after the wedding to protect future brides from a similarly horrible experience, and she was incredibly dismissive. Our day-of coordinator, Sharon, was the rudest person I've literally ever met. She tried to change our widely-publicized ceremony time during rehearsal the night before the wedding, made me send information 3 times because she couldn't figure out how to open a spreadsheet, and even locked us out of the chapel before our time was up for pictures after the wedding!! They disallowed aisle runners, programs, pew bows, unity candle ceremony (even told us we couldn't use those flame apps to do it on our phones), bridal party processing 2 by 2...so many rules that they said were due to covid but seemed more intended to force brides to find another venue. If you are booked with Heinz Chapel, I strongly encourage you to reconsider. I deeply regret staying at that venue and believe that the stress they caused me and my family ruined the entire wedding experience (I was so stressed out by their last-minute attempt to change plans that I threw up so violently that I popped the blood vessels in my eyes...I didn't even know that was physically possible)!! The beauty of the space is not worth it and interior photos do not really capture the beauty of it anyway due to the strange lighting. Seriously, if you are still dealing with them, it's NOT WORTH IT!!!! -
