Grand Affairs made the most wonderful day of our lives even more wonderful!
Many of our guests complimented the beautifully decorated food & beverage tables including the small added touches that really make such a wonderful difference!
The guests raved about the food, especially the pasta station and amazing vegetable tray (so beautifully displayed as well as having more than just "celery & carrots" on it.)
Thanks to all of the professional staff who assisted us through every step of the day as well... Starting with Jaki, our Bridal Manager & Coordinator to the Chef and the Banquet Staff, servicing our guests.
We will definatly recommend Grand Affairs as well as use them as our Caterer for any and all future special events!
Top Notch In Every Way!

We found Grand Affairs staff to be very professional and thorough. They helped trim costs where possible and the food, waiters and bartenders were outstanding. The event planners were wonderful in planning and organizing the reception and gave us peace of mind.

Initial Meeting
- Meeting was with the even planner went well but felt rushed.

- The selection of available colors for the reception was very limited and looked outdated. The selection of decorations wasn't vast.
*We went to Michaels and bought our own "beach" theme decorations and between that and the florist the reception was decorated beautifully.

Ceremony - Wedding on the Bay (Beach)

- Didn't seem like it was good communication between the wedding planner and the mistress of the ceremony

- The event planner didn't inform us that we would have baskets (with flip flops) and water at the ceremony site which would helps the Bride & Groom in knowing ahead of time that something would be provided for the guests.

- The mistress of ceremony assigned to our wedding day didn't know how to put on a boutonniere! She put the Grooms on and a family member walked up and corrected the placement of the boutonniere.

- The mistress of ceremony had no idea who the boutonniere were for (after I told her at the rehearsal but she failed to write anything down) and was running around the day of the wedding asking the Groom and others who was the mother, grandmother, etc.,

- The mistress of ceremony could have / should have had a list of guest so she could stand there (or have someone do it) and check people off and at that time she could have been passing the boutonniere out.

*Advice - Email the wedding planner the guest list in advance and follow up to make sure she passes it on to whomever the mistress of the ceremony is going to be which you will not know who the mistress will be until the week of the wedding.

- There was a boom box that played the music for the ceremony. It is 2011 and in the day of technology I would assume that the company could find a more efficient way like a digital such as MP3 player or IPOD.
**Due to having a boom box the mistress of ceremony said she tested the boom box and it was working but when she was ready to start the ceremony the CD kept skipping.

- The Bride was signaled to get out of the car (at that time the bride is suppose to start walking down the isle/dune) well the bride waited about 5-10 minuets in the heat, due to the mishap with the CD.

- After the ceremony the mistress of the ceremony just left. Didn't check to see if we needed anything else, nothing.

Reception (At Grand Affairs)

- The event coordinator informed us that the person for the reception (they call them Banquet Captain) would be different than the person at the ceremony, and it was. However, that person is really a Chef. She was extremely friendly and helpful but was defiantly not capable of hosting a reception and from talking to her that wasn't really what she was there for and leaned towards my best friend who was assigned by the Bride & Groom to help plan the wedding and on the day of the wedding.

*Advice - You will defiantly need a DJ to keep the order-of-events going and also assign someone (not in the wedding party) to know all the details of the wedding to help host and keep things running smoothly.

Final recap, the packages are charged based off head count for the reception for the food. The impression that was giving by planner and staff was that we were not given the attention to detail that was due when you are paying for a service. This was shown by the lack of experienced staff assigned to us during the ceremony and reception and the lack of preparation.

This impression was based on the feedback we had received from others that had worked with Grand Affairs prior to our wedding, so expected the same level of service.

Overall – The packages are reasonably priced; friendly staff, and they were well recommended.

Originally we had plans to be married in a church, but those plans never got finalized. We needed a place to have the ceremony since we previously booked our reception location. We were less than 1 month away from the date & we needed to do something quick! We called Grand Affairs and met with JAKI REEVES. She was wonderful! We booked the indoor wedding chappel which was very nice. They provided the music and unity candle. Jaki even referred an officiant. As the date got closer, the coordinator NICOLE was available to help us with anything we needed. Quality service at a reasonable rate!

A very kind and attentative banquet staff, and Helena the Catering Manager made our planning and actual Wedding day amazing. One downfall, and the only reason they are not 5 out of 5, was the staff member assigned to handle the day of needs for our wedding ceremony. She was very rude and felt the need to stress my groom and wedding party over petty details. We had a wedding planner who should have been addressed instead. Also the staff member left midway thru the wedding causing members of another party being held in the other ballroom to question our guests as to where to find the staff. Overall a wonderful place to have our wedding as the value and included decor options are plentiful. It was great to have our ceremony and reception in the same place since it was a destination wedding.

I was married in May 2011 at Grand Affairs Catering in Virginia Beach. This venue was absolutely wonderful. The staff are all friendly and flexible, the building was spacious, and the price was literally unbeatable for all the services offered. What was most important to me was having two separate rooms for the wedding and the reception. For the price, a lot of places don't offer such accommodations. Grand Affairs does.

My wedding coordinator was Jaki Reeves and she stayed on top of everything for me. I literally just had to show up. They provide a dressing room, a mistress of ceremonies, and discreet wait staff during the reception. The food was phenomenal. I'm still getting compliments on it months after the event. I would recommend Grand Affairs to any bride who wants a no hassle wedding.

Working with Grand Affairs was a great experience. Jaki was wonderful to work with. The only thing I saw as a disappointment was the fact that the bridal party was forced to leave the preparation room early because of an unexpected wedding at the site. Right before the wedding we had to rush and put my things in the corner in the main hall. Some things can't be helped but that doesn't change the fact I was a paying customer that wanted a beautiful experience from beginning to end. With that said I still recommend them because that was an unexpected circumstance. They were still top notch in business and trying to make this day memorable.

Jaki was a great help for our wedding. my dad way very stubborn about the cost of the wedding and made sure to get what he wanted. jaki helped meet us in our price range and the food was good. not great but good. the main chief who was at the wedding himself was very helpful to my new husband and i. he was running around and continuous asking if there was anything i needed.

I worked with Tina at Grand Affairs in Chesapeake and she was wonderful. I had NO clue what I was doing and she made it simple I told her what I wanted and what my budget was and she stayed within what I wanted and did not try to "sell" me anything I didn't need. The only thing that I had an issue with was that our bartender kept disapearring at one point I had to go to the kitchen and ask him to come out because I had people waiting for drinks (we had Open bar). and they missed one of my guests when they handed out the cake. Otherwise they did a beautiful job. Julia who was out mistress of ceremonies was wonderful also we had a small wedding and when we had our rehearsal we got silly and she was great about it.

Jaki from the Virginia Beach Grand Affairs was great to work with. We planned the reception with Jaki but ended up having it at the Grand Affairs in Chesapeake.

From the start of planning til the end of the reception, they were wonderful to work with. We had a tasting back in April (our wedding was on May 31) and the food tasted good. They even were able to provide my parents with vegan food. :) The entire setup of the place was very nice. Our heart-head table for me and my husband was beautifully decorated. What I really appreciated about Grand Affairs was their ability to setup my centerpieces and anything else I brought exactly as I wanted without me having to detail everything out for them. (I'm sure my wedding planned helped with that as well.)

My guests thoroughly enjoyed the food and many of them went back for seconds. As a matter of fact, almost a week later, they are still commenting on how good the food was. It was even better than the food that was at the tasting. My husband and I were impressed!

I also have to mention the waitstaff. They were courteous and fun. By the end of the night (at our request) we had the waitstaff on the dance floor with us! That's how great everything was. Grand Affairs helped me have a wedding to remember!
