    Shawn Williams was a great DJ. He carried the evening for our 50th wedding anniversary party. Creative, fun, spontaneous. Highly recommend Five Star Entertainment for any celebration . Our guests had a blast. Wouldnt have changed a thing.

    When I was planning my wedding I already knew who I wanted to be our DJ, and it was Shawn Williams, owner of Five Star Entertainment. I've been to many great weddings and some not so entertaining weddings and the common denominator for the great ones was Five Star. You should expect to drop a chunk of change to get Mr. Williams "on demand", although he does have other impeccable staff (but I recommend you go with Shawn) at a less expensive rate.     I hired Shawn for a family member's wedding and it was the best contribution to the wedding I could have made. He picked up the slack for the other vendors, kept everything on time, and got my entire family out on the dance floor. We all had a blast! Also, his room lighting was amazing! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

    Shawn with Five Entertainment was great! He was enthusiastic and open to my "out of the box" ideas. Although I was a little worried about the what the song list might be for the entire reception, I left it up to Shawn to "do his thing." The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception music was at a acceptable level (a few wedding's I've been to had the music up way too loud and the speakers were blaring). Everyone could hear us say our vows and could hear each other sitting at the tables. The reception dance music seemed to start off like all other weddings I've been too and people were not getting out on the floor, but Shawn caught that and immediately shifted the music to something more what the people wanted. By the end of the night we were doing the "Soul Train" line up dance and even ended the night off with a "Harlem Shake" video where everyone of our guests participated!

    My husband and I got married in 2012 and people are still asking us who did our music- because he did such an amazing job of reading the crowd and keeping the dance floor going. He also acted some what of a wedding coordinator, keeping the flow of the reception moving in a timley matter (time for the father daughter dance, toast, cut the cake, garter and flower toss). He set up amazing lighting that added so much to the venue- we barley had to decorate. We are so thankful that we chose Fivestar and would recommend them to anyone.

    Shawn did a fantastic job of running the show from grand entrance to last dance! Of note he managed the time line in a very subtle and all encompassing demeanor. If the flexibility scale could go to 10 Shawn would receive an 11. Making a special last minute run for the bride and groom half way around town to retrieve the saber used for the cake cutting.     This is the message I sent Shawn a few days after my daughter's wedding: Thank you so much for your services during Alli's and Christian's wedding reception. You were perfect for our family centered celebration and everything ran smoothly from beginning to end. The music was perfect for dinner conversation, then upbeat for fun and dancing. As Master of Ceremonies, you hit the right note, helping us flow from one highlight to another. We'd love working with you again sometime. Thank you!

    Shawn was great; he really went with the flow the day of the wedding and helped out tremendously with keeping things running on track. He worked well with our entertainer, as well. He also had helpful music suggestions which I really appreciated.

    He had some great advice, and kept me up to speed on everything. He played music that appealed to everyone, and he was so great in keeping with the structure of the wedding. I think that he did a fantastic job, and I would reccomend him to anyone!

    We thought we hit the jackpot with our DJ. We talked to the owner and he was so friendly, helpful, and gave us a ton of numbers to call for the wedding. We thought it was too good to be true. It was.

    We met with them 2 weeks before the wedding and they mentioned nothing about the final payment. As the day got closer, we figured we would just bring a checkbook to our reception just in case because we had out of town family coming in all week and no time to meet with anyone. Plus, they never contacted us about it. The owner called us AT OUR REHEARSAL DINNER demanding we go online and pay him immediately. We told him we were at our rehearsal and asked if we could write a check at the reception. He said no. He kept my groom on the phone for 5 minutes asking for money while all of our guests were waiting for us to make our speeches. It was insensitive and unprofessional. Finally, after our rehearsal, my groom called him and told him it was rude that he called us at that time, aka the night before the wedding. We got an apology, but it seemed rather flimsy.

    The day of our ceremony, 2 of the 3 songs we picked were not the pieces that we talked about as our "finalized list" so we were really disappointed with that.

    At the reception, almost every song was cut off halfway through. It sounded very inexperienced. We had to re-assure the dj of all of his announcements, even though we were promised that our "finalized timeline" was all taken care of and they would be the ones to conduct that stuff. It interfered with us trying to spend time with our guests.

    Lastly, they told us we did not need to pick a list of songs to play, and they would take requests, and if they didn't have a request at hand, they had means to get the song right there. Well, they didn't play requests my guests asked for and one of our songs that my groom and I wanted to dance our last dance, they had to connect to my phone to play, even though they knew we both had meaning to the song.

    Five Star Entertainment's reply:

    We are fully aware of this client's challenges and would like to leave a response. Going over last minute details in the office, I noticed a couple questions were left unanswered. During the call, I noticed their final payment was past due and reminded the groom I had an easy online payment system he could use at his convenience; I did not demand immediate payment. He agreed and the call ended. Minutes later, I received a heated call that warned "we better not have one issue with that DJ" and that the groom felt disrespected. I apologized twice for unknowingly interrupting his dinner (via phone and email), patiently reassured him it was going to be a great day, and I was sending my most experienced DJ.

    Regarding the music, the ceremony song choices were downloaded in my office during our meeting and saved for this ceremony. They were absolutely the exact choices made by the bride and groom. As for requests, our DJ confirmed he took requests, played them and everyone danced. Our DJ also confirmed he followed our policy to play requests as soon as possible, usually the next song. After the wedding, our DJ informed me that the bride and groom were short tempered from the start of the day.

    We have since improved our process to make sure final payments are addressed earlier and appreciate the opportunity to be a better company.
