I really appreciated the excellent work by Bisi Essien, principal at Crystal Eyez Makeup & Beauty Lounge. We had a particularly difficult wedding as we were married outdoors in Malibu, California, on the hottest day on record in July. Given the circumstances, Bisi went above and beyond to work with textures to provide sweat free and comforable makeup that suited both my taste and the wedding aestheic. She also stayed throughout for touch ups if needed, never complaining once, though the makeup lasted all day and night with only a few touch ups needed.

The trial the day prior was informative and seamless. Pricing was reasonable & quality was excellent. We were able to talk through adjustments and changes that were well executed on the wedding day.

I would highly recommend Cystal Eyez Makeup & Beauty Lounge for your wedding or next event.

Amazing bridal service!

I really appreciated the full-service attention to detail from each stylist who came to do hair and makeup for my bridal party and me. Bisi was very careful to style exactly how I wanted for my big day and I felt absolutely beautiful. Each of the other stylists helped to make my bridesmaids look stunning!

Bisi is the Best!

When I had my first makeup trial with CrystalEyez, I had a makeup artist who I didn't really click with. She didn't bother trying to chat with me or ask too many questions. Luckily, I was able to do another trial with the master artist Bisi. She was so much better. I loved how my makeup and hair looked on my wedding day. While hiring Bisi was a little more expensive it was worth it. People commented on how great the makeup looked on my wedding day. I definitely recommend them.

Definite go to for wedding makeup!

Symone and her fellow artist from Crystal Eyez killed it in making me, my bridal party, moms, and grandma of the groom look flawless for my wedding day! I loved my makeup trial with Symone but asked her for a more dewy look for the big day so my face wouldn't be as powdery, and boy did she deliver on the feedback! I looked and felt incredible! My look lasted from 11 AM to 12 AM through all the tears (my bridesmaids did touch me up after the tears of my first look). I highly highly recommend Crystal Eyez for your makeup needs! They were incredibly professional and responsive to all my questions leading up to the big day, and do phenomenal work!

From the time I began searching for a Chicago-based MUA, once I landed on Crystal-Eyez Makeup & Hair, Bisi provided excellent customer service with me during this entire process in preparing for my brother’s wedding. She was responsive to my emails and calls, worked with me on settling dates, and helped me arrange schedules. I really appreciated her accommodation when there was a huge change to the wedding date. Bisi was patient, professional, and still assured services would get done. On the day of the wedding, we were all pleased with one of the Crystal-Eyez Makeup & Hair team members, Jojo. All of the other clients and I each had a great experience with her and she did an excellent job. Bisi is truly the best!

Bisi is truly the best! We got married in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Hiring Bisi to accompany me to Mexico was the best decision. She knew exactly what I wanted for my hair and make up and delivered above and beyond. My make up looked flawless throughout the day even with the humidity in Mexico. She also did my mom and sister’s make up (they both looked gorgeous). Everyone kept commenting on how gorgeous I looked and the photos are amazing. Bisi is very professional and kind. Great for hair and makeup needs!

I used Crystal-Eyez for hair and make up for my 2020 micro wedding and 2021 reception. I’ll start with hair because I haven’t seen as many hair reviews. In 2020, I got an updo with a partial sew-in in place. In 2021, CE did the sew-in and colored my hair and the weave, in addition to styling my wedding hair. I actually liked their sew-in better than the place that did it before. Cori was my stylist and the way she did it was more comfortable, looked natural and provided flexibility in hairstyles. In terms of color, at first the color wasn’t what I wanted, but it’s possible the picture I showed wasn’t exactly representative. CE was extremely accommodating and re-dyed it the next day and it was perfect. If you’re wondering if you should do hair here, I say YES.

For makeup, every time I saw a black person in a Chicago wedding magazine the makeup was by CE. They didn’t disappoint. I went to them a couple of times throughout the process and each time they were efficient and executed what I wanted very well. For the 2021 wedding, I had 8 bridesmaids who all got their makeup done in addition to me and my Mom. They were Black, Indian, Asian, and Latina and CE made them look flawless. Truly, I was impressed by how well they did everyone’s makeup. My photographer also made a comment stating he was impressed as well and it sounded genuine!

Finally, I recommend CE because they are very easy to work with logistically. Clearly they do weddings all the time. It’s easy to make and reschedule appointments. They were always timely. Day-of they were also on time and worked efficiently. I would tell brides to use CE for hair and makeup rather than their regular stylist for this reason alone.

CE is an excellent salon and any bride should hire them with confidence!

Great option, just be prepared

I thought I was the only person struggling but once I came for my trial I realized MANY of us were uneducated on weave and what styles could and could not be done. Two of the girls were even sent home during their trial because they didn’t wash their bundles prior or didn’t order enough hair. This is all stuff that could have been prevented is someone was communicating

It would be really awesome if Bisi could assign us our stylists immediately and then the stylists take over all correspondence from there. Bisi is a busy woman and is very short and comes off as inconvenienced during most interactions so the stylists taking over and providing guidance on what they can and cannot do is very helpful.

I for example spent $300 on hair just for me to get there and for my stylist to tell me the hair was too long for the style I wanted, wouldnt last and that they needed me to cut off SIX INCHES. if I had of had that info prior that would have saved me $150

Absolutely gorgeous!

When I was searching for a makeup artist I came across Crystal-Eyez and as soon as I saw Bisi’s before and after photos of her clients I knew right away that I wanted her to do my makeup for my wedding day. I was totally blown away by her looks and her style was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted that glam, flawless look and that’s exactly what she gave me. She was also very flexible with me when I had to reschedule my wedding three times! Finally the big day came and I looked beyond beautiful and so did my bridesmaids. Bisi and her team did our hair and makeup and we all looked fabulous! They do such a wonderful job and I would highly recommend them to anyone. You won’t be sorry!

Wonderful artist!

Bisi was my wife's makeup artist for our wedding (airbrush). Bisi was very patient and friendly, despite the chaos of the wedding day. My wife did not have a clear idea of how she wanted to look on the wedding day, despite this, Bisi was able to create a look that made her feel beautiful. Even with several interruptions, she was professional and committed to ensuring my wife was satisfied with the final look. My wife received compliments from all guests (including me!). Excellent Experiece!! Seriously Talented MUA!!!

I just got married and I couldn’t be more impressed with how talented Bisi is. First of all, I arrived 10 min late to the venue and saw Bisi and her other MUA set up and ready to go! I had only 1 pack of clip ins for my really thin hair but she worked wonders with it. The make-up was seriously the best I have ever had done my a MUA...and I have been to plenty! She had another artist with her that did my brides maids and mom’s make up. She seriously took 10 years off my mom. She looked fab! I highly highly recommend her and her team.

Bisi was phenomenal!!! I found Crystal-Eyez on The Knot and booked immediately after seeing the reviews and photos. Let me tell you Bisi did not disappoint! This amazing woman traveled all the way from Chicago to make me look flawless for my wedding day. She gave me the perfect make up and hair with little to no direction. It was so nice to have someone come in and already know what to do and how to do it in the middle of a hectic day directing ppl. She was so professional and sweet. HIGHLY recommend them!

I used Crystal Eyez for my wedding and could not have been happier with them!! Bisi was responsive to all questions prior to the wedding day, and did a stunning job on both the trial and the day of makeup and hair! Her team was also amazing and did an incredible job on my bridesmaids and mothers hair and makeup. They were punctual, professional, and fun to have around doing hair and makeup as we were all getting ready! My hair and makeup stayed flawless from the time they finished at 1pm through the entire day, and a night of sleep! I loved Bisi's hair and makeup job so much they are now my go-to spot for hair and makeup for holiday parties and other special events (I travel from Lincoln Square to South Loop for them).

Amazing makeup for everyone!

If you want amazing make up Crystal-Eyez is where it's at. Very professional and just awesome with make up. I normally don't wear makeup on my face regularly because it always feels heavy to me. Bisi personalizes your look to make you look amazing. A must-book!

If Bisi of Crystal-Eyez is available on your wedding date, you should book her without hesitation. I couldn't have been happier with how beautiful I looked on that day. What I love most about Bisi is she takes your considerations into account, without compromising her aesthetic style.

I am not a fan of a lot of make up, and have had issues with artistes applying a ton of foundation or lashes that feel heavy. I essentially stopped using lashes because I felt so uncomfortable with them. Bisi understood that I wanted a natural look and gave me exactly that. My face felt very light and I couldn't tell I had lashes on. She gave me the perfect hint of color with my lipstick and eye shadows. I truly felt amazing on my wedding day without feeling unrecognizable.

She was extremely professional and punctual throughout the process and gave me a lot of tips on how to apply my foundation. My mom rarely has make up on, and she made her look flawless on as well.

I was lucky enough to have her for the entire night so she was available for my touch up, but I recommend getting her touch up kit if you don't have her for the night. My sisters got the touch up kit, which contains all the essentials for a quick do over.

I still get tons of compliments about how amazing I looked that night and I couldn't have felt that beautiful if Bisi hadn't glammed me up.

Bisi is the bomb.......... I don't wear makeup but when she was finish with my makeup and when I looked into the mirror I didn't recognize myself. The Owner, Bisi, along with another Make-Up Artist, TY, took care of my Bridesmaids, Mothers, Flower Girl and I for my Wedding on 9/9/18! Chantalle from Crystal-Eyez did my hair and makeup for my wedding and it was AMAZING!!! I got SOOO many compliments on everything from my curls, to the brows to the lashes to the overall look and blend of everything.

I was nervous at first because I came in from out of town for my wedding and wasn't able to do a trial ahead of time. I was put at ease immediately as she arrived on time, and ready to go (she's also pleasant to work with and had a good attitude)! Needless to say, all of my worries were instantly erased when I finally got to see the finished look in the mirror!

The end result was everything I could've asked for and so much more. I even cried during the wedding but still somehow had a flawless look until the end of our day. I would definitely use their services again... Especially Chantalle!!! Thanks!

I had two bridal makeup trials and had my makeup done for my wedding day. My first trial with Crystal and my second trial was with Victoria. Victoria was absolutely fantastic!! My trial with her was great and I received so many compliments but my wedding day makeup WOW!!! She did an even better job! My now husband and some of my friends and family are still.talkong about my fabulous wedding day makeup. Victoria also did my sister's makeup and she loved it. I gave Victoria suggestions and she gave me feedback and suggestions and created a flawless look. My wedding day makeup was so light I forgot I had any one. My lashes were light and my makeup lasted for about 12 hours.

Listen...you want professional makeup AND you still look like yourself?!?! Contact Bisi!! I should’ve wrote this review a long time ago but it’s never too late to give a review for an excellent makeup artist! I don’t wear makeup everyday but I love it when I take the time to do my own makeup. I’ve only had my makeup professionally done two times and I’ve been afraid to let anyone put makeup on me since. Yes, it was horrible! Wrong color, too heavy...you name it. So of course on my wedding day I wanted to have my makeup done as well as my bridal party. I’m not going to lie I was nervous to say the least. But I have always admired Bisi’s work.
My mom and I went to Crystal Eyez studio for my bridal trial (I highly recommend you do this). The ambiance was nice, great music and everything. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Bisi asked me for the look I was going for...of course I was indecisive. She was patient, and I appreciate that. I didn’t feel rushed. She took some of the ideas I gave and provided me with a FABULOUS look...I loved it!! It was perfect! I looked like myself lbs! So I immediately booked her for me, my mom and my girls!
Fast forward...
My wedding was on Michigan Ave during the Taste of Chicago so let’s just say traffic was everywhere and extremely busy in the city. She provided me a time that the artist would be there and let me tell you...they were on time and ready!! Crystal and JoJo did their thing on each and every girl. I didn’t want their makeup to look the same they each had a unique look and they look flawless! For some of the ladies it was their first time getting their makeup done professionally and they LOVED IT!!! Of course Bisi didn’t let me down...it seemed like my makeup was even better than the trial. I felt BEAUTIFUL and natural...I couldn’t wait for everyone to see me!! I highly recommend Bisi and her team.

I have work with a number of make up artists and I finally can say it loud who my favorite is. Bisi did my engagement and wedding make up. I love how she transformed me that day. Bisi did the makeup for my wedding. She was absolutely wonderful! She not only did my makeup, but also 4 bridesmaids and my mother. She was on time, professional, and very skilled! Bisi sent out a crew to do my hair and makeup for my wedding day. They came in on time and accommodated to the surroundings they had available. My hair was exactly as I wanted and stayed in place all day! My makeup lasted about 3 days with minor touches! I know eiw not washing it but it was so lovely I couldn't and didn't want to take it off. I was hoping they posted it on their Instagram but unfortunately I didn't make the cut, lol. Loved the professionalism and how great they made me feel. Would hire them again and I ALWAYS recommend Crystal -Eyez makeup and beauty to any other brides!

I am so happy I went with Bisi and the Team from Crystal-Eyez. I found them through a friend who had her wedding make-up done with Bisi and the team. I loved it, so I knew I wanted to inquire! I then found so many great reviews about them that I was sold! I had 12 bridesmaids and it was important to me to not just have 1-2 artist make my girls get up at 6am. Bisi was so flexible. She brought a total of 4 artists to the hotel (2 make-up and 2 hair). They were able to do the hair/makeup for 12 ladies (24 items!) from 9am-noon. It was great. Everyone looked so sexy and elegant. I will be using Bisi's skills for future events! She was even so kind to let me buy her parking through SpotHero downtown, rather than having to pay to valet all the cars at expensive hotel. I really appreciate her working with me. Thank you so much, Bisi and Team!! I was so happy on my wedding day and you helped that!

I highly recommend Crystal-Eyez. I had my makeup done for my rehearsal dinner and also for my wedding. Both days, my makeup was absolutely flawless. The salon is very nice and modern, and the staff are all super friendly. Crystal-Eyez is simply amazing. I knew I was in great hands from the very first trial I had with Bisi. Not only is she amazingly talented in beating faces flawless and creating gorgeous hair styles, she also did an amazing job in easing my stress on my wedding day. The morning of my wedding, I was freaking out because my other vendors were getting on my last nerve and I couldn't stay seated for her to do my makeup and hair. However, she was very patient with me and took her time to calm me down and made me feel like it was all about me. She took her time to do my makeup and hair and absolutely made me look like a princess. Even when I was running late and turning into a bridezilla she stayed with me until I got into the limo. I must add that she did my makeup and hair at 10am and it stayed slayed all day without any touch up. Even at 12am (14hrs later) after all the dancing, my guests couldn't believe that I still had on the same makeup from morning...it was still Flawless! I will recommend Crystal-Eyez over and over again....definitely my favorite vendor of the day. God bless Crystal-Eyez for showing me soo much love and support.

I first had my makeup done by Bisi for my sister's wedding in 2014, and I told her that she was hired for my wedding and I didn't care what it cost or had to do to get her there! I had my wedding on 08/15/15 and I would have to say that getting my makeup done by Bisi was a key factor in the day! Once she came in she started doing my mother/mother in law and bridesmaids makeup, which I appreciated because you don't rush perfection and that is what her finished products are. I have acne scars on my face and she was able to camouflage them which made me have even more confidence. I selected Crystal Eyez as a vendor because I was so impressed by her work that I viewed online. I was confident that her team would do a great job. This was the best experience I have ever had when trusting someone to help facilitate such a big task on such a big day. I was so nervous about how I would look because I did change the look that we had agreed upon previous, the day of the wedding but Bisi made me look flawless. I had Jasmine for my engagement day and Bisi and Brittany for my wedding day. All of these ladies are very professional, on time, and most importantly my makeup and the bridal party makeup was flawless. I will be looking at the pictures 20 years from now and will still be beautiful.I also had a makeover last minute for thanksgiving day and Bisi was so nice to make time for me on top of her busy schedule.I will highly recommend Cystal-eyez to everyone especially future brides. You cannot believe how many people have asked for Bisi's contact information. I feel like that's all i have to say to explain how much of a perfect and flawless job she and her crew did on myself and my bridesmaids. Like most brides I planned and organized everything well in advance of our wedding. I booked my initial makeup artist about eight months before our wedding, I had a signed contract and even put down a deposit to secure the date. Unfortunately and to my surprise with less than one week before the wedding, she canceled. She offered a subpar replacement, leaving me in a panic.

Luckily, a good friend of mine recommended Crystal-Eyez Makeup & Beauty. It was truly a blessing Bisi and the Crystal-Eyez team were able to fit us into their busy schedule at the last minute. The Crystal-Eyez team arrived on time, ready to make transformations. The team was very professional, used high quality makeup and were accommodating to my bridal party. Everyone was thrilled with their makeup and looked amazing throughout the night! The before and after shots are incredible and speak for themselves.

I had the privilege of working with Bisi of Crystal-Eyez for our Valentine's Day wedding at the Adler Planetarium.

Bisi came HIGHLY recommended from several professional photographers and friends so I had to schedule a trial with her! Bisi not only listened to all of my ideas, but also took into consideration my wedding theme and colors while applying my makeup. The finished product = true beauty!

On our big day, Bisi arrived on time and ready to get to work. She made up my entire bridal party and our transformations were amazing. Bisi truly worked a miracle on my skin as I have several dark spots and discolorations that she was easily able to cover up.

I received SO many compliments that night and even now when people look back at the pictures, everyone tells me how flawless I looked and how much of a "Barbie" I was!

Thank you again Bisi and Crystal-Eyez for exceeding my expectations and truly making me picture perfect! I hope other brides read this comment and choose you! There honestly is no better makeup artist in Chicago, especially for African American brides. If you want the best, you have to go with Bisi!

I recently had my bridal makeup done by Bisi, owner of Crystal-Eyes Makeup. She did my makeup as well as my mother's and three of my bridesmaids. Bisi transformed my beautiful bridesmaids into stunning visions of beauty. They legitimately looked liked models after she was done with them. My mother's makeup was very elegant and classic. Everyone loved how they looked and got many compliments.

My makeup was absolutely amazing. I told Bisi of the look I wanted during our trial, and she made my bridal vision a reality. I looked amazing. I have never received more compliments in my life. I looked glamourous, felt beautiful and loved how amazing Bisi made me look. My husband LOVED how I looked.

I got married this spring and prior to that I searched all over for a top quality make-up artist and when I found Bisi that is exactly what I got. She was incredibly professional and her make-up skills are flawless. She gave me the look I wanted and my face looked amazing. ATTENTION ALL FUTURE BRIDES.....If you are looking for a FABULOUS & GLAMOUROUS look for your wedding day, you can STOP now and may I suggest you hire Crystal -Eyez Make Up and Hair. I had an opportunity to do a trial make up session with Bisi (the Head Make-UP Artist) and I knew then that I admired her work. Bisi along with another one of her make-up artist serviced myself and a few of my bridesmaids on the Wedding day. Everyone was gorgeous and picture perfect. The majority of my guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful I looked and how flawless my make-up was. Even days and weeks afterwards I still receive those same comments from people who view pictures from others. I can truly say I felt STUNNING from Head to Toe especially when one of my guest said I remind her of a "Special Edition Doll" made with care and precision.( I thought that was funny , never expected that comment nor heard that before). However, the one comment that was priceless to me was made by my husband. As we were enjoying our Honeymoon, and recapturing the events of our wedding day he turns to me with a serious look and asks, "Who did your make-up?" (My inner thought was "oh oh" ) I replied, "Bisi" then he proceeded to tell me, he loved it and the make-up only enhanced my beauty without turning me in to someone he didn't recognize. At that moment, I knew Bisi, was the right choice. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that both Artists are true professionals, prompt and above all TALENTED. Finally One last thing...My Professional Pictures turned out Gorgeous, the application of the make-up ignited through the film therefore capturing nothing but Glamour.

The moment I contacted Bisi and we had our first email exchange, I knew that I was going enjoy working with Crystal-Eyez Makeup. Bisi's responses were always very prompt, which gave me confidence in her company. She and her colleague arrived on time, and was very flexible considering that the location for the services changed the day before. All of the bridesmaids makeup was flawless and the bride looked even more amazing. I hired Bisi as my wedding makeup artist in November 2012. From start to finish, Bisi was extremely professional. She arrived on time, was knowledgeable when I had questions/concerns, and asked me questions about what I wanted, which is key in dealing with brides. In the end, she did an absolutely beautiful job on my makeup - I am still receiving compliments when people see my wedding photos! I highly recommend Bisi in makeup artistry and would definitely hire her again.

So, I planned my wedding in a city that I am not from and do not know anyone that is from there or who lives there. I actually came on the knot and read reviews for Crystal-eyez and everyone reccommended using them. Well, you know those situations where all of the reviews are positive and then when you go your experience is not great...yeah, well this is not that type of review because my experience was amazing!!! I had Lena C. as my makeup artist. I did a trial with her, the day before my wedding. Yes, you read that correctly, the trial was the day before my wedding but I had already booked her for the wedding and either way, this was a go. I went to trial and crossed my fingers that it would go well. Let me tell you, Lena did a fantastic job. She blended and highlighted and made me look like a model. I felt beautiful just walking out of the studio and on the next, day (my wedding day) she did an even better job. I felt and looked beautiful and that is what all women want on their wedding day. I wanted to be a diva and Lena helped me get there. She is just also an amazing person to talk to and that is a huge plus!! I have had my makeup done professionally several time before but never has been done so flawlessly. Lena is a rock star!! If you are reading this review, then I just made your life easier because Crystal-Eyez is definitely for you!!!! I mean, come on, their reviews speak for themselves, how can you not use them?! Bisi and Kay did an amazing job on me, 2 of my maids and my mother. All of us received compliments all evening. My husband can't stop raving about how good I looked. Our wedding day was the first time he had seen me makeup on and he couldn't stop staring at me. Lol. I had my makeup on for over 12 hours and at the end of the night, after dancing HARD at my wedding all evening, my makeup still looked phenomenal. The crsystal-Eyez make-up artist are the best in the entire Chicago area!!! On my wedding day things were so hectic. My hotel had given my room away because I didn't get there on time. When I got to the hotel, Bisi, and her team were already waiting in the hotel lobby. She was so patient and professional. I we finally were given a room and Bisi and her girls started doing what they do best. I left them to go have my hair done, and Oh! that was a disaster! I was so disappointed with my hair after 3hours at the Salon. My appointment time has already expired, but Bisi waited for me. Words alone cannot express how I felt when she was done with my make-up! My best friend started crying, because" she has never seen me so Beautiful". Bisi saved the day!!! I had my makeup done by Bisi the head makeup artist from Crystal-Eyez. When I came in for my consulation a few months before my wedding I was a little unsure of the "look" that i wanted. I told Bisi that I really wanted my eyes to look nice. Bisi gave me a nice dramatic smokey eye! As it got closer to my wedding, I decided that I wanted a more natural softer look with my eye makeup. I emailed Bisi and asked her if this would be possible and she said it would be no problem. I communicated primarily through email with Bisi and she always got back with me within a reasonable time. She is very flexible and accomodationg with making certain changes and she always remained professional. On the day of the wedding, Bisi double checked with me about how I wanted my makeup done and whenshe was done I looked in the mirror I was in awe of how flawless and pretty I looked! Bisi is a pro at this and I can't wait to have my makeup done by her again!

Lena with Crystal Eyez was amazing! From the very beginning she was so helpful with tips and colors to help me achieve the look I wanted. I went for a trial and she hit what I wanted at the time spot on. On my wedding day, I decided to alter the look I had from my trial a bit, and I could not have been more happy with the results! She hit it again, spot on plus 1! I looked amazing on my wedding day, and the makeup stayed all day/night! She also did my maid of honor and my mother and mother in laws as well. All of them looked flawless and beautiful. I'm so glad we used Crystal Eyez for the big day! I'd recommend Lena to everyone!

Crystal eyez has the best makeup artist ever!!!! I had my makeup done for my wedding April 20th and I literally looked like a doll! Awesome!!! They were on-time for my wedding. Bisi is the owner...connected me to Lena via text! Lena came with another makeup artist for my wedding. These lovely women are highlyyyyyy talented!!!! i would give them 10 stars! Lena is soooo amazing,she did my bridal makeup and i pretty much didnot want to take it off after the wedding ended!! I was so geeked!
I just moved to Chicago from New York and i believe i hit jackpot finding them. I will be going to them for future makeup when i have big events to go...
