User1806870 Sent on 09/12/2014Chris was awesome to work with. He was very professional and his assistant was on making sure that everything ran smoothly with our pictures. Even when I didn't have a timeline of my wedding, he sat down with me to plan out the day. He had me make a list of everyone/group that I wanted to take pictures with that day and was game to take pictures anywhere. Would so recommend him. :) -

Chris returned our emails and phone calls almost immediately and was able to accommodate our date/time restrictions. He is very passionate and creative with his work, which is clearly displayed in the wonderful photographs that were delivered. Additionally, he made taking photos, which could be extremely awkward, FUN! I would highly recommend him to friends and family - and will use him again in the future to photograph our family. -

Beautiful Photos!
We found Chris through a friend who had him as the photographer at their wedding. We loved the way their photos came out and thankfully he was available on our day! Chris was friendly, professional, and reasonably priced. The photos came out beautiful, we are so happy with them! -

I would not recommend Chris Nachtwey Photography for your wedding photos. Of all the areas of my wedding that I thought could go wrong (logistically, there were quite a few I knew would be an issue) my wedding photos were not one of them. I will preface this review by saying that my wedding day had quite a few unforeseen circumstances that were out of Chris’s control (or mine). However, saying that, there were many within his control and poor decision making, lack of compassion and professionalism have lead to me to writing this review.
I debated writing this, it's someone's livelihood, but even after 6 months, I'm still left pissed when I think back to my experience, so here I am.
I can’t tell you how many moments Chris missed because he wasn’t there! Yes, you heard correct, wasn’t there! I did provide Chris a shot list prior to the wedding and was told I should fill out his survey and that he’d have everything he’d need from that and our conversation before the wedding. So not only did he get a shot list from me but I also completed his survey and still ended up with pictures that were a must have that weren’t captured! I have zero pics of my dad seeing me for the first time. I don't have pictures of the school buses I used with my wedding party, because Chris didn't take them, despite the "must haves" I provide via his survey and shot list. We missed family pictures we needed because Chris was too rushed because he mismanaged his time.
I counted nearly 2 hours of time that Chris stood around doing nothing and instead of taking advantage of that time, he just wasn't there. My mom, who is not well came out to have family pictures taken after our first look, and Chris said no, he'd get those after the ceremony. He knew my mom wasn't well, and yet turned her away. He then left to go to the chapel, despite him saying he'd stay glued to me for the day (even though his second photographer was already there). So we sat around for nearly an hour waiting to get to the chapel, and where was Chris, gone.
After the ceremony, we literally rushed to get pics taken (even just pictures of me because he didn't get them earlier). Chris YELLED at our guest to leave and get back on the bus and wedding party (later apologizing - though should never have happened). It was VERY apparent Chris did not want to be there. So much so, that many of my guests later said as much to me. Lots of pics and family pics that I was super rushed to have done with him being super impatient and rude, because he mismanaged his time! I barely have pics of myself let alone me with my family nor the ones I wanted with bridal party and our school bus…none of those taken!
My brother in law is in zero pictures because he had to deal with a medical emergency that happened at my ceremony…to which Chris said we’d get those with him again later - Never happened!
I have no pictures WITH my guests because Chris asked to leave. Now I’ll be fair and say I had Chris booked from my 1:30-9:30 but did tell him I’d probably want him for another hour (wedding ended at 10:30) but he could send his second home and that I would pay the extra hour…he knew this going in to the wedding and said in our contract that above the 8 hrs would be and hourly extra, which I was fine with paying. In any-case, Chris, on multiple occasions came up to me and my husband at the reception asking to leave. That the third time I finally was like ok. So by the time I was relaxed he left and gone were the pic opportunities with my friends and family!
I’m left being mad. Mad I can’t get those moments back (ie my dad seeing me for the first time). Mad that the pics I do have looked rushed and stressed because he was! Just so many standard pictures, I don't feel I have. And the entire reason I picked my venue was honestly because of the pictures we could take - which we never taken advantage of.
I’m left pissed. The experience I had on-site on my wedding day was terrible and I wouldn’t recommend Chris. I wouldn’t’ want another bride having the same experience. You want someone to roll with it and have a good attitude should anything go wrong (and it did on my day) and that’s NOT Chris!
