we adored the location at boone hall, the grounds are stunning, and so many of our guests were excited to go and visit, since they had already heard about it. we were planning on getting married lakeside, but when we visited we saw the cotton docks and fell in love. it is a cute little barn, with an attached dock over the water. it was perfect for what we wanted our day to be. the wedding person, jennifer, was also relaxed and very easy versus some of the organizers we had met with at other places that were uptight, flustered, and running back and forth between what they were doing. your wedding is the only one there, but you do have to wait until they close for things to take place, which means 6 pm as a start time- which was fine for us. jennifer wasn't fabulous with responding to e-mails, and a couple of times i had to send them twice (the second time over a week after- i wasn't being high maintenance) but always got back eventually, although not answering all of the questions i asked each time. but i would rather have that then deal with the alternative high strung individuals. we are looking forward to seeing our pictures because the area is so beautiful, we have to believe they will be great.

You will be on your own, if you book this venue! Cotton Dock was supposed to be clean. 3 inches of water in bathrooms, water ankle deep at the entrance. Staff person had a broom & dust pan ? Drains were full of trash. We had to find a section of dock to place at front door. Groom used his own wet vac for 3 hrs. A local store owner told me "that barn always floods."

Worse yet, paid for a golf cart to shuttle guest from parking lot and hung a sign telling them to wait for a ride. BUT WE HAD NO GOLF CART !!! Guest had to walk through the mud. HORRIBLE !!!
So cold, we needed the heaters, but they didn't work. We called for help, but couldn't be fixed. Guest spent the evening fighting for space around the fireplace to stay warm. Wedding party and family were all sick afterwards. Not the celebration we planned. Mud, mud and more mud! Don't use this venue !

Perfect place!! Beautiful, picturesque, serene and breathtaking! This place is near and dear to my family and it meant so much to us to get married there. It's a truly beautiful backdrop for a wedding or any event. The people that work there are wonderful and so sweet!

The location was a dream! We got married on the Cotton Dock and couldn't have asked for a better backdrop for our dream day. It was truly beautiful. It was kind of expensive just because nothing comes with the venue, so everything had to be brought in. The staff wasn't super responsive leading up to the wedding and some details were hard to take care of. It was also my understanding when booking our venue for that day that no other events would be going on, but during our wedding, they had a huge private tour group throughout the grounds. We tried to get photos in front of the iconic house and there are people in the background, including an employee who wouldn't bother to move when asked. Overall, we love where we got married because of the beauty... just wish some of the details could have been a little more smooth. We also got eaten by mosquitos while trying to take photos around the plantation. We arranged for our small wedding to have our guests go on a private tram ride to tour the plantation and they really enjoyed it! I highly recommend that if you have a small wedding. (Blake & Ryan also did the same thing!!)

Wow is all I can say! This place was my dream location for our wedding! The cotton dock was absolutely stunning! Love everything about this location!

Not a cheap venue, but it was worth every penny!! They were very easy going about what I wanted and truly left the blank slate up to me and my wedding planner. Highly recommend!

We got married at Boone Hall's Cotton Dock, and it was an incredibly beautiful venue. Our pictures have turned out so well, and our guests were raving about the beautiful backdrop. We had the ceremony on the actual dock, the cocktail hour out front, and then the reception and dancing inside.

Unfortunately, they did not give any sort of discount for getting married on a Friday instead of a Saturday, so the price was a bit more than I think it should have been. However, we fell in the love with the venue, so I wasn't willing to settle for anything else and probably would have paid more at that point. Also, because it is such a popular venue, we could not have the rehearsal the evening before and instead have to hold it in the morning of the day before. Even at that time, they were already setting up for an event that evening, so it was hard to rehearse the ceremony around all of the other events' tables and chairs.

Overall, it was a great venue, but it would have made my life a lot easier of Boone Hall actually provided some bare necessities for events. Renting all of the furniture, etc., for a blank slate is nice in that you can choose exactly what you want, but it did get quite expensive, especially considering the price that Boone Hall charges.

We held our ceremony on the front lawn of the plantation home. It was a beautiful setting for the ceremony with the iron gates as our backdrop. Our reception was at the Cotton Dock at the plantation as well. The plantation is kept up very well and the plants already on location were lovely. They allow outside vendors and were even helpful in recommending vendors. Jennifer and Willie were incredibly helpful with any and all questions I had. I would highly recommend Boone Hall Plantation to anyone looking for a beautiful Southern plantation for a wedding ceremony, reception or both!

The Boone Hall Plantation Cotton Dock was the perfect setting for our wedding reception! The staff was extremely helpful and allowed me and anyone working with me to view the site on several occasions. They were very quick to respond to any questions I had and were always willing to find me an answer. The only downside is that it books up way in advance, but that just goes to show you how great of a spot it is!

Beautiful location to have a wedding! We got married on the Cotton Dock and had the reception there as well.It was just gorgeous. Jennifer, the event coordinator there, is very flexible and easy to work with. I only give it a 4 for value b/c it's pricey for not including anything in the rental price except the space itself essentially. I found that was pretty typical of the Charleston area though--at least the places we looked at before deciding on Boone Hall. Wouldn't change this choice for the world though!!!

This venue is classically Charleston! It was perfect in every way. Jennifer there as completely helpful and totally willing to do anything we needed. I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants classic Charleston Plantation.

What a beautiful setting! It is pricy considering it does not include anything excpet the venue but it is wonderful!

Absolutely beautiful, easy to work with, no bugs even in June. Cotton Dock not air conditioned, but gorgeous.

I can't say enough how perfect Boone Hall was for a wedding and reception location. We had our wedding outside in front of the plantation house and the reception at the Cotton Dock. IT WAS GORGOUS. You will be sold after your first drive down the main entrance. The oak trees are BEAUTIFUL and will take your guests breath away! Jennifer, our contact at Boone Hall, was extremely helpful and answered all our questions PROMPTLY, which is important when you are planning a destination wedding! It began to rain after our wedding and I was worried about how everything would work out. The Cotton Dock provided a great location for photos, even with the rain, and the staff at Boone Hall made everything perfect. The staff even lit a huge fire in the fireplace which provided an extra level of ambiance I didn't know they had :) Anyways, great location.... definitely worth it!!

This is where The Notebook was set. It's the number one photographed plantation. Need I say more? Absoultely beautiful. We had our reception outside at the Cotton Dock. Amazing.
