Birchtree was a pleasure to work with, had an amazing eye for design, made a mean cocktail and best of all - cooked up a delicious menu! We had several people tell us that they've never had such fresh and tasty wedding food. Our menu was Pescetarian, and they didn't bat an eye coming up delicious with options for all guests.

Best of all, they put my mind at-ease by filling the role of a day-of coordinator, executing perfectly my DIY touches. We highly recommend Birchtree!

I decided in February that I wanted a wedding on March 30th at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens. I started researching catering places and was thrilled with Birchtree from the start. Their use of local food was what attracted me, and their accommodation to any palate was what really sold me on them. We had a gluten-free, corn-free, vegan reception dinner.
I was not feeling very detail oriented about planning the wedding, and Allegra, the other owner, took care of me. She offered her help and guided me through the planning process. Both Rasa and Allegra were excellent at responding to emails and helping me with the details. They even organized gluten free cookies to be delivered from Sweet Freedom Bakery. They even communicated with the people at the Magic Gardens so on the day of the wedding all I had to do was lounge around looking pretty.

I would like to mention their staff as well. The weather was a bit tricky that day and had started off beautiful and sunny and warm, so the tables and eating spaces were all set up outdoors. However, it eventually cooled down and several of the guests were letting me know they were cold. I asked the catering employees if they could move the table inside, and they worked absolute magic in no time flat with cheerful and pleasant smiles! It was very wonderful the way the staff made sure to keep food aside for the bride and groom as well, so even though we were swept up in a ball of pictures and conversation, we did get to eat on our wedding day.

My husband and I were recently married and used Birchtree catering based on a number of recommendations from family friends - we were not the least bit disappointed! Working with Birchtree was an effortless collaboration - we knew they understood our aesthetic and helped us create a menu and space that reflected our vision precisely. The food was delicious as well as local, organic, compostable, and sustainable which is important for us. They were very flexible as I emailed them with small decor adjustments the night before our ceremony and they delivered the day of. They're affordable and were sensitive to delivering quality service within our budget. Additionally, the service staff was professional and super friendly -- good vibes. They exceeded our expectations and I would confidently recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer, wedding or otherwise.

We chose birchtree to cater our wedding (which was two weeks ago) because they had a reputation for seasonal and local cuisine, for being reasonably priced, and for being very down to earth. Although we were getting married, we were really turned off by the wedding industry. Birchtree treated us as human beings, rather than cogs in the wedding wheel. They're a small business and were really accessible and friendly. Their staff is great and everything went off without a hitch. And the food was delicious; we received many compliments on it. We had a great time at our wedding, in large part because we didn't have to worry about anything thanks to Birchtree. We recommend them enthusiastically.

My husband and I used Birchtree Catering for our wedding. We were very happy with our experience. A few details:

--amazing food— creative menu options, beautifully presented, delicious, specified to our taste.

--event planning details—worked with our venue directly to arrange details. They visited the reception site with us and spent an hour and a half talking through logistics with us & the site staff, in addition to meeting with us several other times. Rasa & Allegra really went above and beyond to make sure things would run smoothly.

--decorations—helped improve and implement my ideas, did all the day-of set-up-- hanging lights, arranging centerpieces/place cards/favors, etc.

--personal touches—really accommodating and willing to help us execute the details that made our wedding feel personal. When we told them we wanted to set up croquet & badminton for our guests to play on the lawn during the cocktail hour, they suggested adding a mini-bar—perfect for a summer wedding!

My daughter and her husband had their wedding managed and catered by Birchtree Catering. They were incredible! Birchtree catered and hosted the entire event - the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, and dancing. They not only provided all of the catering services, but took care of all flowers, (including the cermony), set-up and flow of the evening. Every part of their service was wonderful and far exceeded my expectations. They met with my daughter and husband, listened, and created an event that was exactly what they wanted at and completely within their budget. The food, flowers, decor, and staff were all first rate. We used Birchtree for our wedding, and we were glad we did.
From the beginning, they were very responsive, and as the process moved along, they kept everything in order. This proved to be a big deal as the day approached, because as we were less mentally present, they really had their act together.
The food was great. We knew it would be, since that was why we selected them as a vendor. Everything was great, and everyone was happy. Their professionalism was something we didn't know we'd need so much, and they delivered.

We were excited to use both a small business, and one focusing on local foods. We also found Birchtree really responsive to concerns, questions, allergies and other dietary restrictions, and our budget. We had a lovely Moroccan themed menu, and got tons of compliments on it. I would highly recommend Birchtree.

Great from start to finish. Allegra and Rasa were both very easy to work with, always responsive, easy-going, flexible, and eager to bring our thoughts to reality. The food was wonderful; we chose Birchtree in part because of the focus on local, seasonal and sustainably-harvested foods; also because the food was delicious!

Once we chose the other vendors (e.g. tent company, baker), we very much appreciated Birchtree taking the lead on working with those vendors. We didn't have to try to coordinate all the different people, from timing of arrival through payment. Made planning the wedding a lot easier.

All the waiters and servers on the day of the wedding were personable, smiling, friendly and helpful. Wonderful folks.

My husband and I found Birchtree Catering in The Grid Magazine 2011 Wedding Issue. The Grid Magazine is a free Philly publication that you can find in Philly food co-ops, farmers markets, and other local independent establishments (not just food-related) committed to a sustainable Philadelphia. Because we have enjoyed reading their monthly issues since 2008, which typically feature local foods, we thought who better to trust with a local catering recommendation? We were not disappointed!

Rasa and Allegra are a joy! Rasa's passion for hand-crafting locally-sourced ingredients into a delicious feast for the palette elevates her fare to sublime status. Allegra is super-organized and focused as she coxes the desires for the day out of the bride and groom. They both were attentive to our concerns, calmly re-fining menus and scheduling until we were completely happy with the plans. Birchtree made our dream wedding possible, and the abundance of delectable food ensured that no one went hungry!

Our only advice to prospective brides and grooms: make sure you assign someone to be in charge of taking home the left-overs--you won't want to let any of this delicious food go to waste!

When we were considering vendors for our November 2011 wedding, Birchtree immediately stood out. Not only were they the quickest to respond to our inquiry, instead of simply emailing us menu options, they first asked us questions about where we shopped and what kinds of restaurants we liked. By the time we met with Rasa for an initial consultation, we already had a feeling that they would be a perfect fit.

We tried to make very thoughtful decisions with our wedding budget and so it was important to us to support vendors we believed in. It is impossible for me to convey to the adequate degree how absolutely thrilled we were to work with Birchtree for this very reason. Every single person we interacted with was helpful, kind and amazingly talented. From the owners to the servers, everyone was lovely and clearly dedicated to making sure the event was a success. The food was delicious, perfect and literally everything we wanted. Multiple guests have told me that they have never had better wedding food and almost everyone commented that they loved the family-style dining option.

Throughout the planning process, Allegra was amazingly responsive and flexible. It was so incredibly helpful to know that she was just an email away. During our rehearsal and on the day of the wedding, Allegra made absolutely sure that everything went beautifully. It is not an exaggeration to say that we truly could not have pulled the day off without her coordination.

Working with Birchtree was probably the best decision we made during the entire wedding-planning process. The food was outstanding and the people were amazing. While we were on our honeymoon, my husband remarked that he wished we could have another party just so that we could enjoy the food all over again.

We had so much fun working with Rasa and Allegra. My husband had found them online when searching for small local caterers. We had a very small intimate wedding of about 28 people, and wanted a caterer who was comfortable and open to working within that size. Jeff instantly liked the look and feel of their offerings, and the honesty of the initial conversations. We moved forward by talking details about the menu, which was to be a vegetarian Fall-type offering. The tasting was really fun, which was held in Rasa's dining room (again, very intimate). We made some suggestions about what could be tweaked and signed the contract. What Rasa and Allegra and her lovely staff delivered really blew us away. The tweaks had been minor suggestions, but the overall result was astounding. There were several picky eaters in our group (my mum!) and she kept raving about the taste and flavors and textures and variety. Everyone had something positive to say, and I know many went into the kitchen to thank everyone themselves. The wait staff was also really fun and responsive, and added to the energy of the event. I would hire Birthtree again in a heartbeat, perhaps for our 10-year anniversary party!

I am so lucky I found Birchtree. I contacted about 5 different catering companies when I got engaged, and Birchtree was the quickest to respond, and the most attentive to my needs and budget. Allegra and Rasa were able to develop a menu and plan that fit our budget all while staying classy and tasty. Allegra was by my side throughout the entire process, and was always calm, collected and quick. I always received a timely response, and never felt any pressure to go one way or another. In addition to being down right fantastic, they use local food! So you know what you are getting is quality and not mass-produced. Everyone at my wedding raved about the vegetable lasagna and bacon wrapped dates, just to name a few. I really do not think I would have been treated so wonderfully from any other caterer. If your caterer cannot get back to you with a quote on something in a day or two, then you do not matter to them. I was able to contact Allegra or Rasa with no problem, and knew that they cared about me as a client, and my event. Allegra coordinated my wedding, and I really could not have asked for a better person to take charge. She is worth every penny. Jeremy ran the buffet at my event, and managed the servers- who were also friendly and attentive. I have not a single regret about working with Birchtree. My wedding would not have operated so smoothly if not for this team of professionals. I would gladly recommend Birchtree to anyone looking to impress at their wedding. This is the people you want if you really want to amaze and astound your guest list. Hire them, you will not regret it.

Birchtree Catering was an amazing company to work with from start to finish. Allegra guided us through all of the aspects of planning, including way more than catering. Rasa helped us with amazing, mouth-watering menu suggestions and then worked with us to craft dishes into a North African theme. Our guests were wowed by the food and service and couldn't stop talking about how great the food was. As an added bonus, Birchtree's pricing was better than so many others and they worked with us on cost without any pressure to spend more. We can't recommend them enough.
