Nicole was the photographer for our wedding ceremony. Our wedding planner Rhonda helped us to find her. At first we actually are a little bit worried. Now I need to say we are very fortunate to have Nicole to help us! Though later there is a slight accident that a memory card on the way to the car got lost after the wedding, we luckily only lost a few unimportant photos. For this small accident, Nicole was generous to give us 19 photos more than the budget. When we looked at the final photos, all our families love them! Nicole is highly recommended.

We almost didn't hire a professional photographer for our wedding. We saw all the advertised prices and we knew there wasn't enough room in our budget for that. At the last minute our wedding coordinator put us in contact with Maui Photographer Nicole Sanchez from Behind the Lens Maui. Wow. One of the best wedding decisions we made! Nicole offered us an amazing package deal, exactly what we wanted and for such an unbelievable price! In the end, we were given almost double the agreed upon photo count. On site, she was firm but loads of fun. She got all the guests arranged where they needed to be and made everyone smile - at the same time! We ended up with so many great photos to choose from. They weren't too photoshopped or pose-y - just what we asked for. They were sweet and perfect and we are so happy with our choice. I hope this review helps anyone looking for a Maui photographer.

Behind The Lens Maui was awesome!!!! We were delighted with the Nicole! She was very accomadating and fun!! Nicole greeted us on our wedding day with a warm smile and her camera. My husband and I recently got married in Maui, and we were extremely happy with the service from Behind the Lens Maui. Sue was our photographer, and she did an amazing job. She made us feel very comfortable and it showed in the pictures. We worked with Nicole to finalize our selections, and she was also great to work with, as she was very friendly and quick to respond to my emails. We received our files within a day of making our final selections, and the payment process went smoothly. We got married in Maui in December 2012 and Nicole, owner of Behind the Lens Maui was our Maui Wedding Photographer. I guess everyone chooses a wedding planner first but when I checked Nicole's work, it was love at first sight so I first decided for the photographer. Nicole is so talented, professional but also very fun to be with it. Nicole started communicated with me since the very beginning on a daily bases. She promptly replied to all of my emails, advised on both shooting locations (apart from the wedding itself that took part in the morning, we also wanted to have a sunset shooting), restaurant for wedding reception. Also, she advised us not to be lazy and get up early in the morning so the ocean will have a bright blue color instead of gray color in the evening.
The pictures that came out are just breathtaking. All our friends and family are complimenting on the photos - the colors are breathtaking, poses very unique and the background is so exotic.
Originally we decided to have 2 shootings and 60 photos all together. However, after the photos came out we just could not decide as one photo was better than the other. Finally, Nicole, such a good hearted woman, offered to upgrade to all 900 photos for a very reasonable fee. Nicole is not only a God gifted photographer and easy person to work with, she has also become our a very true friend. We (me and my husband and another 4 couples) had such a good time with Nicole that we would highly recommend her to anyone. All my single friends want her to be their Maui wedding photographer! :-)

We were looking for a wedding photographer in Maui and came across a number of good re-views for Nicole Sanchez at Behind the Lens Maui Photography (behindthelensmaui.com). We emailed her along with several other photographers and we were impressed by her prompt and detailed response. We followed up with other emails and phone calls, and continued to be impressed with how personable Nicole was, so we decided to contract with her, and we are glad we did!
This was a second marriage for both of us, so we decided the wedding would be just the two of us, on the beach. We only needed a photographer for an hour, but despite the very small size of our ceremony Nicole gave as more personal attention than we could have possibly wished for.
Prior to the wedding day she helped pick out the exact location on the beach for the best pictures. For the wedding day itself Nicole was very flexible about where to take pictures. At the last minute we decided to take some pictures on the hotel property (we received permission prior) as we walked down to the beach and Nicole was willing to do whatever we wanted, as well as suggesting spots to stop and take pictures.
Our fee for Nicole’s services covered one hour of photography, but Nicole offered to give us all the time we needed with no upcharge. We kept her busy for a little more than an hour, but at no time did we ever feel rushed in the slightest. We were comfortable every moment we were with her – she was fun and relaxed.
We were pleasantly surprised when we received an email from Nicole after the wedding letting us know our proofs were ready for viewing several days ahead of when we expected them. And Nicole’s pictures were fantastic. We had a hard time deciding which ones to choose there were so many good pictures.
Nicole is not only a top notch photographer, but she is also a wonderful person and she is a true professional. We loved her and would recommend her to anyone going to Maui.

Nicole was a recommendation from Tina (our caterer/planner from Food for the Soul) and at first I was worried because her website was a bit outdated (although it's currently being revamped) but boy Nicole was so great.

She has a lot of great energy and is bubbly and just so honest and hard working. We had several conference calls before the wedding just to learn my 'photography style' and she was just having fun and she is really creative. She also brought on a second photographer for the ceremony which she basically paid for out of pocket.

We also did a trash the dress session with Nicole which was really fun and highly recommended. By the end of the session, she was just as wet as we were and her camera almost got wet trying to get the perfect shot!! It was very good time all around!

I've now gotten my photos and they are just absolutely amazing. I think nobody ever will say they got 'bad pictures' but really, Nicole does a high quality job and she got the photos to us within two weeks exactly of our wedding date. She also couriered the photos to us in Canada.

We renewed our vows in Maui in May-2012. I was at a loss in planning until I reached out to Nicole at Behind the Lens. Not only was she a pleasure to deal with from first contact through picture selection, she was also very helpful in answering any and all questions I had along the way. Planning a wedding is stressful. Planning a destination wedding in Maui (a place we’ve never been) from PA was really stressful…until we found Nicole Sanchez! After doing some online research and actually speaking with a few photographers, we decided to go forward with Nicole. She made me feel so comfortable after our initial contact over the phone, she has a great personality and I could tell she had great business acumen skills as well. Some of the vendors I had contact with in Maui had no sense of urgency or did not get back to me at all, unlike Nicole. Another reason Nicole is a great choice as your photographer is because she is well respected and well connected on the island. Nicole’s professionalism and reputation really stood out as I worked with other vendors for the big day. I think that says a lot about her and I am so glad we chose her!
Nicole and I communicated over email and phone consistently months before the wedding. She went above and beyond her duty as a photographer to help me reach out to other vendors such as make up or flowers. She also helped us with our wedding location, since neither of us have ever been in Maui.
We did a 2 hour session with Nicole and that was perfect for our intimate, sunset wedding on Secret Beach. If you are not signed up for Pinterest, I highly suggest it. I got great wedding photo ideas from it and you can actually follow Behind the Lens Maui on there. I have to mention how easy it was to work with Nicole on Pinterest. We spent an evening chatting about each picture I saved on Pinterest and why I liked it. Doing this prior to the wedding ensured I got all the shots I wanted for my special day. Nicole is so organized, again, great business acumen skills.
Working with Nicole was the best part of my wedding planning. She alleviated the stress of planning by getting back to me right away with questions and concerns and she is willing to give suggestions when you can’t find all the answers. I had a local photographer look at my photos and he was impressed by the high quality of her work, so you can’t go wrong with her.
