Wedding photography
When we were touring wedding venues in Charlottesville, we spent a lot of time flipping through the sample photo albums—and it quickly became clear that Aaron was the photographer we wanted. This past weekend only confirmed that choice. When the weather forced us to pivot our plans, he was a calm, reassuring presence with a thoughtful backup plan ready to go. We’ve only seen the sneak peeks so far, but they are absolutely gorgeous, and I can’t wait to see the full gallery. I would hire Aaron again and again! -

Absolutely Incredible!!
Aaron Watson is a genius photographer, but his skills are actually just icing on the cake of what an absolute gem of a human he is. He not only beautifully and authentically captured my big day, but also filled the roles of wedding planner and therapist. He pinned my veil, bustled my dress, and coaxed me back to earth whenever he saw any moment of overthinking appear in my face.
His passion and commitment to his craft is unmatched and shows in every photo he takes. As a wedding planner myself, I have observed countless photographers, but I knew before I was even engaged that I had to have Aaron's eye behind the lens on my wedding! In the midst of a 95% chance of a thunderstorm 15 minutes before our outdoor ceremony, Aaron pulled up his own radar and reassured that that storm was likely to go around us. Because of him, we had our dream ceremony on the field of KFV with a beautiful mountain backdrop.

Aaron and Lisa are true professionals and extremely talented at their jobs. They made our wedding day seamless with photos taken with family (and kids), friends and in different locations at our venue. We could not have found a more perfect photographer for our wedding. From little details, to grand scenic settings, Aaron Watson Photography captured our wedding the way we imagined. Aaron is personable, knowledgeable, and did a great job creating the experience we wanted. We marked value at "5" because although they are not the cheapest, they are they best. The gallery on their website is 100% what you will get in person. He gets beautiful shots, and you don't want to miss out on those on your wedding day. We planned this from the other side of the country, never meeting in person or seeing the venue. I was raining and gray (not yet Spring) the morning of our ceremony and everything turned out perfectly. We would recommend him to anyone wanting a photographer. We could not be more pleased with the process, the experience and the results! -

A wonderful Experience with Aaron Watson Photography
I can't thank Aaron Watson Photography enough for the exceptional service they provided for our wedding. From the early stages of planning, Aaron demonstrated unparalleled dedication. Without a wedding planner for the day, he took the initiative to create a comprehensive wedding day timeline, going above and beyond to ensure every detail was considered.
On the day of the wedding, both Aaron and his wife arrived promptly, showcasing an incredible synergy as a team. Their effective communication was evident throughout, contributing to the seamless flow of the day. One standout aspect was Aaron's commitment to getting to know each family member and member of the bridal party by name before the event. This personal touch not only demonstrated his attention to detail but also added a special element to his work.
During the church ceremony, Aaron's meticulous preparation shone through as we breezed through grouped family photos. Despite unforeseen challenges, such as groomsmen arriving late or family leaving early from the church, Aaron's ability to improvise was commendable. He navigated these situations gracefully, ensuring that every requested photo pairing was captured.
We also had the pleasure of choosing Aaron for our engagement photos, and once again, he delivered exceptional results. His post-session one-on-one meetings to review the photos showcased his commitment to client satisfaction and attention to individual preferences.

On our first meeting with Aaron, when we gave him our wedding date and he immediately spit out the exact sunset time and started talking through how he’d set up a timeline for our wedding day to get the ideal sunset shot, we knew we’d found the right photographer. He takes his craft incredibly seriously, is the ultimate professional, but also easy going to work with.
We had the pleasure of working with Aaron for both our engagement shoot and wedding day at Veritas and he made us feel comfortable for both. When we had an uncertain forecast for our wedding day, he and our planner were incredibly flexible to make sure we ultimately got what we wanted and were willing to adjust on the fly. Aaron knows Charlottesville like the back of his hand and is highly skilled at capturing the natural beauty of the area. We were incredibly lucky to be able to get married outdoors, despite a horrible forecast, and Aaron was just as excited as us to get the outdoor shots he knew that we wanted.
We can’t recommend Aaron enough for his professionalism, creativity, and light hearted approach to his work. In addition to making us feel comfortable, the entire bridal party and our families all enjoyed Aaron. He was such a huge part in making our day feel better than we could have ever hoped and we’re so glad we chose to work with him.

Aaron’s photos aren’t just any pictures- they’re works of art. We choose Aaron and Lisa because we liked their style- their photography is colorful, vibrant, realistic, and timeless. No “Instagram filter” looking photos here! The AWP team even has a drone which they use to take unique landscape portraits.
Aaron and Lisa are friendly, professional, responsive, and great at making couples feel relaxed in front of the camera. We definitely recommend hiring Aaron for your wedding day.
We never thought it would rain on our wedding day, but our photos still turned out amazingly colorful and gorgeous! Not only did Aaron and Lisa capture stunning portraits, but they have a talent of capturing raw emotional shots- like my husband shedding a tear during the first look.
We’ve received tons of complements on our wedding photos and we’ve recommended the AWP team to all our UVa & Charlottesville friends (many of which have hired them after seeing our photos). We also bought the wedding album, parent albums, and some portraits for our home. We highly recommend these add-ons as well- the quality is top notch.

Wow, I think it goes without saying that Aaron Watson is simply the best there is when it comes to wedding photographers!!! Mention his name to any venue in Charlottesville and they will rave about him! When I started the wedding planning process, I knew I wanted Aaron Watson Photography before I knew any of the other vendors I wanted... or even the wedding date! Aaron is always in high demand so I wanted to make sure I booked very far in advance with him before dates got booked! I personally know Aaron and his family and just adore them :) I felt so lucky to have both Aaron AND his lovely wife Lisa photograph my special day! They thought of all the little things and truly captured all the love that surrounded us that day. I can't even put into words how special our wedding photos are. Not to mention the fact that we also did our engagement session with Aaron at Raven's Roost Overlook and the results were astounding! The detail and color in Aaron's photos are just breathtaking- nothing compares! Also, he is very skilled in keeping things running smoothly during the wedding while still allowing us to enjoy every moment! Before the wedding, we had a lengthy conversation with him to discuss which photos we wanted to make sure we got. Aaron memorized the order of photos and after the ceremony made sure he got each shot as quickly as possible (not easy to do with large families... but many of my family members and bridal party members talked about how much they appreciated his efficiency!) A highlight of the day was when Aaron drove us in his car after the ceremony up to the TOP of our venue to get incredible vineyard views and sunset photos. That was such a special moment and one that I will never forget- especially now having such beautiful photos to look back on! I felt at ease the entire day from getting ready in the bridal suite to the sparkler exit at the very end of the day, because I knew we were in very capable hands! In my opinion, wedding photography is the one part of wedding planning you should NOT skimp on- wedding photos are timeless and I am so thankful that I now will have these beautiful photos (and an album) to look back on forever! There is simply no one better- if you are deciding on who to book for your wedding photography, Aaron Watson Photography is the way to go if you want your day perfectly captured! Out of this world amazing - seriously!!!
Working with Aaron was an absolutely phenomenal experience. When I first started looking into wedding photographers, his photos stood out to me immediately because of their vibrant colors, and his spectacular sunset, nighttime, and fireworks photography. I was so pleased when I learned that he was available for our event date. Aaron was so well-organized and such a delight to work with. He has a great personality, and was spectacular at putting us at ease on our wedding day (and helping to keep us organized, too!). By the end of our wedding day, he practically felt like family, and everyone loved working with him. In addition, we have gotten so many wonderful compliments about his photos, in addition to comments about how enjoyable he was to be around. Aaron had many wonderful ideas for what sort of pictures would work well at our venue and at that time of day and year, and worked to incorporate our ideas too. He made sure that he got photos of all family and details that we requested, and in the style we had discussed during our consultation meeting. He checked the weather, sunset times, and everything else as we prepared for the day. Aaron even created an outline of a schedule that helped other vendors work around some of the things we planned (e.g., sunset photos). I planned our wedding, and he was also very helpful in suggesting other vendors I could hire. Aaron was super prompt in getting our digital photos to us, and they were BEAUTIFUL! I cannot wait to get our albums later this fall (which, by the way, he prints himself too...a one-stop, high quality shop!). I could not have asked for ANYTHING better to document and remember this special event. Honestly, even as I write this, I feel as though I cannot possibly do justice to the experience that Aaron provided to us, but I do think that his photos communicate a lot. I will say this: As a person who is also in a service industry, I can only hope to give my clients the same degree of service, consideration, and professionalism that Aaron gave us; this is my highest possible compliment. Aaron is the best of the best. Having worked with Aaron previously, bringing him on as a part of my wedding was the easiest and best decision of my planning experience. He is a true professional and was so organized and efficient at every step. He worked great with out wedding party and had everyone laughing, it felt like he was just a natural extension of our family on our big day. It rained almost the entire day, and you would hardly know it from our photos which I am extremely grateful for (besides some seriously amazing umbrella shots). You will not regret going with Aaron Watson for your wedding photos. You get what you pay for with him! We used him for our engagement and wedding photos, as well as my bridal portraits. He is extremely professional and knowledgable about the industry. Any photographer can take a
still photo, but Aaron is very skilled at taking action photos and catching moments. I chose him because he captures moments of not only the bride and groom but the guests. I have some incredible photos of people on the dance floor. For me that was important. I highly recommend using him as your photographer.

You will not regret choosing Aaron
Having Aaron and his wife photograph our wedding day was easily THE BEST choice we made for our wedding day. Due to my husband and I living out of state, we weren't able to meet Aaron until our wedding day. However, from the moment we met him he immediately made every comfortable in front of the camera. He felt like a family friend. Aaron kept us on time all day and got all of our must have shots that we requested. After getting my gallery back I cannot believe all of the amazing shots Aaron and his wife got of our wedding day. My fear was feeling uncomfortable with a photographer photographing every moment and it feel "fake", but it was the exact opposite. Aaron was the perfect amount of leading the shots versus staying behind the scenes and letting all oaf the emotions truly be candid. Thank you, Aaron! Fantastic Decision
It was a pleasure working with Aaron Watson and his team! He captured beautiful engagements shots in the Blue Ridge Mountains - and even gave us guidance on what to wear to look our best selves (thankfully!). He is very calm and genuine which helped us feel comfortable to take natural pictures. When it came time for the wedding, he had a call with us a few weeks before to talk through the schedule. We made some adjustments to capture the sunset and allocate enough time for 'first look' & family pictures. During the wedding and reception, he was not intrusive, and he captured all of our key moments. The finished product is beautiful and I would recommend him to anyone! -

Hiring Aaron to photograph our wedding was one of the best decisions we've ever made! From our very first call, I knew that I wanted to work with Aaron. He was incredibly organized and enjoyable to work with. We used him for our engagement photos and he made that day so much fun, I couldn't wait for the wedding day! He asked all the right questions leading up to the wedding ensuring that we would get all the shots we wanted (which we did).
Day of, he moved things quickly, our wedding party or family never got tired and so many people said they had no idea he was even there during the reception! He did such a good job with his wife Lisa keeping "hidden" yet capturing every single moment of our day! I even added on extra time with him, and I am so glad that I did!
We also ordered an album from him and WOW! The quality is nothing like I have ever seen, it is honestly stunning! He made the creation process easy, helped guide us so we had all the best photos included and the final product is something we will cherish for our entire lives!
He is such a talented photographer, so there is no doubt your photos will come out amazing but you'll also enjoy working with him which truly matters when its 8-10 hours of your wedding day!!! -

If you are looking for a wedding photographer (or portrait photographer) in the Charlottesville area, look no further. We got married at King Family Vineyards this summer and that's where I first saw some of Aaron's photos. I was just blown away. He has this way capturing the fun little moments, and also creating more serious shots that are just epic (with and without a drone)! He's one of a kind and super fun to work with. We had him and his wife Lisa shooting at our wedding, and I have such great memories goofing off with the two of them out in the vineyards getting some beautiful shots. He has been doing this for a long time and he knows every angle, every trick in the book. He also knows and works well with all of the Charlottesville-area wedding vendors. The one thing you do not want to skimp on with your wedding is the photos, because that's what you'll have to look back on forever. He not only responds to emails and phone calls immediately, but has a robust system to manage all photography related details for your wedding day. We ended up using his timeline for our wedding day because it was perfect. Yet on our wedding day when there was some rain, his team moved with the flow and helped us adjust our timeline seamlessly.
•Photos that are Art: Aaron’s photos are not just of people, but capture the perfect angles, lighting, scenery, and moments that make his photos worthy for a museum. All our guests and family keep telling us how many of our photos could be covers of a magazines or crisp prints in our future home

We are so happy we decided to use Aaron Watson for our wedding!! We love every single one of his photos - he gets stunning shots no matter what. My wedding day was very windy, but he was so patient with everyone's hair blowing all over the place, and took the time to get amazing pictures. He makes everything feel very comfortable and natural as well. We used him for engagement shots as well and will cherish both the engagement and wedding pictures for our entire life! The best wedding decision that we made
We hired Aaron Watson Photography to be our wedding photographer in Charlottesville, Virginia, for our April wedding. The wedding ceremony was held at the UVA Chapel and the reception was at the Darden School of Business.
Aaron and his team went above and beyond to capture our wedding day. Throughout the planning process, Aaron learned every detail of our wedding so that he could capture the aspects of the day that were important to us. From providing a comprehensive questionnaire to taking the time to talk through every detail leading up to our wedding, we never doubted that we were in good hands. He went through the logistics of how he would be photographing at different locations and brainstormed creative ideas for images that would work well at our venues.
Upon signing up to work with Aaron Watson Photography, we had access to software that made paying our installments, choosing photography packages, and managing our pictures seamless. Aaron responded in less than 24 hours to any questions we had and had excellent suggestions when we needed recommendations and advice. He is well-known in the Charlottesville wedding industry and our vendors had an enormous amount respect for him.
From working together, it is clear that Aaron is an expert in his craft. Our pictures are incredible, and they clearly capture the emotion of our wedding day. The candid shots are just as beautiful as the staged ones and demonstrate that Aaron has a keen eye for detail.
One of my favorite things about Aaron is his personality. Not only is he an absolute blast to work with, but he also has a calming presence that we were grateful for throughout our wedding day. He was instrumental in assisting our guests and was sure to ask family and friends if they had any requests for special pictures. We were extremely comfortable during our individual photography sessions and, during the ceremony and reception, we hardly even noticed Aaron was there. Our family and guests remarked about how thoughtful he was in striking this balance.

My now husband and I found his website very early on and we fell in love with his soft and ethereal style of photography, it fit perfectly with our venue and the feel we were going for. But, we also wanted to meet with him in person to ask some questions before we booked. Aaron was so accommodating and made time for us to come to his studio to talk with him about what he could offer us. He walked us through his style and process and we booked him right on the spot.
From there, the experience of working with him all the way up to and including the big day was perfect. He responded to every question promptly and provided questionnaires and suggestions to my designed schedule so that we could fit in every single shot we wanted. On the big day, he was an absolute joy to be with! He arrived right on time with his associate photographer and kept us moving so we could get every shot in, both the planned and spontaneous moments. We couldn’t have asked for a more attentive and wonderful photography team, we can’t thank them enough! Right after the wedding, we got a small sample of pictures, Holy cow! They were absolutely beautiful! Exactly what we were hoping for after previewing his work all those months before. They captured all the emotions we were feeling that day, but were also so creative in regards to lighting, camera focus and angle, they took our breath away! Since then, we have gotten a mini album of pictures to share with friends and family and the more pictures we see, the more in love we are with Aaron’s work. I cannot say enough good things about it, he has enormous talent and is able to get sweeping gorgeous shots as well as small intimate moments with the people who mean the most to you. Really, it’s everything you want when looking back on the most important day of your life. We highly recommend Aaron to any couple looking to capture their day beautifully! -

Allison Sent on 07/17/2018Booking Aaron as our wedding day photographer was the single best investment that we made on our wedding day. My husband and I were originally planning to cut our costs on photography, but we decided to go with Aaron because of our great consultation with him. Our entire honeymoon my husband and I said to each other every single day “I am so so so glad that we picked Aaron.” A lot of things didn’t run as smoothly as planned on our big day, but Aaron was there every step of the way, helping make sure that we were sticking to the timeline, working with my wedding coordinator, grabbing me water, and telling me to take deep breaths when I was feeling overwhelmed.
During family photos I was very hot standing outside and did not want to take any more photos, when it came to the last photo I said “no just forget it, I’m done” not realizing that it was my parents solo photo with us. Aaron looked at me and said “no, you will regret it if we don’t take this photo,” and I can not tell you how grateful I am for him taking charge and saying that to me when I was clearly too overwhelmed to understand what I had even requested. We whole heartedly recommend to any bride & groom to make the investment with Aaron for your wedding day because you will be glad that you did, what he delivered for us was so much more than just photos. -

He asks questions so he gets to know who is important to you and it shows in the pictures he takes. He is worth every single penny--the photos we got from our wedding are incredible and capture the feeling and sentiment of the day. At times during our wedding we didn't even know he was there but he never missed a beat and made sure to grab us for the sunset and the starry evening photos. Can not recommend him enough, he is the ultimate professional and you will make sure you get exactly what you want from your big day!!! -

He spent a great deal of time trying to get to know my husband and I to make sure that his photographs reflected our personalities and what was most important to us on our wedding day. He also has a great eye for beautiful, creative, and unique shots that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Aaron took both our engagement photos and wedding photos as well as documented our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. He spent alot of time before the events talking to me to gauge what aspects of the wedding weekend I wanted highlighted the most. I would highly recommend Aaron to anyone taking wedding photos, engagement photos, family photos, or any photos in general! -
User94795 Sent on 08/08/2008Aaron Watson was amazing. He responded to our inital inquiry in person, and took a significant amount of time answering questions via email and over the phone. When he was in the area shooting another session, he met with my and my then-fiance and showed us his work, gave us references, and discussed details with us. He was prompt in getting back with emails, always polite, and very flexible in meeting our needs and desires.
On the wedding day, he arrived early, took time to look over the entire place, helped us finalize some locations for shoots, and was discreet throughout the day. He handled everything very capably, and I was never bothered with details or questions.
We got our pictures back and up online before the contract's deadline, and I couldn't be happier with his work. He is extremely talented, and made our wedding look spectacular on film.
I highly recommend his services.

Gifted Photographer with Great People Skills
The hours leading up to a wedding can bring tension, emotional upheavals, and even chaos, depending on how wrinkled the bridesmaids robes were when coming out of the box. Aaron Watson’s low-key way of taking charge will fit into almost anyone’s wedding scenario. His people skills are right up there with his technical abilities. A number of us in the bride’s dressing room commented on his laid-back persona, which masks a thorough and highly skilled professional photographer. Despite the overcast quality of the sky on my daughter’s wedding day, he managed to make things look bright and the colors pop in “the first look.” His detailed knowledge of the venue meant that no time was ever wasted in finding “the right spot” for his lens. (Note to future brides: when vendor shopping, your first question should be “Have you worked at this venue before?” You don’t want to waste the time or pay for the learning curve on your wedding day.) Assisted by a woman who demonstrated the same high professional level, Aaron was able to deliver an abundant assortment of images in capturing the fixed time frame of the day. And he caught those special moments of laughter, intimacy, connection—the “truth” moments. His images are beautiful; his style of acquiring them is non-intrusive. All in all, he delivered a technically beautiful and emotionally accurate documentation of the day. What more could a bride want? I hope that my daughter and her new husband can sit down on their fiftieth anniversary and go through their wedding album. They will have these images to rekindle the excitement and ardor of their special day, and they are lucky for that, I think. -
