Absolutely fabulous! This unassuming southern home opens to lush gardens. The interior is open and inviting. I loved the plantation home feel and the house required little additional decoration. I didn't have to blow my whole budget on live flowers. And the flowers I did buy were reasonable priced and gorgeous! The Mitchell House & Gardens has these great package events which are pre-planned and very budget-minded. When I was married at 19 and had a very small budget, I would have loved the option to have a package event. However, I was 34 and financially prospering this time around! So I choose to have a custom event. I rented the house for the entire day! It was wonderful!! I had brunch served for my close family and attendents...about 20 of us. The Mitchell House recommended a great stylist I met with in advance and arranged for her to come to The Mitchell House and do my hair & makeup while I relaxed in the Bridal Room upstairs, sipping champagne. The renewal ceremony was beautiful! The reception was a blast! It all seemed to fly by, even though we rented the house until midnight. There were so many friends and family to talk to and dancing! The DJ set up outside under the Pavillion where we held the ceremony and we had a fabulous time. The food was magnificient...scrumptious tenderloin...sauteed shrimp, andoule sausage and stone-ground grits (my special request). I'm not sure if the cake was my favorite dessert, or the brownies and wedding cookies. I just can't say enough about the wonderful service. Everyone I met with to plan the event and everyone there on our special day were priceless!! No detail was overlooked. During the planning, I arranged to meet with my DJ and my photographer at the Mitchell House...just one phone call to The Mitchell House and they scheduled the consultation and set aside additional time for me to meet there with everyone else. I loved that the food, the cake, the flowers, the tables and chairs, the set up, the clean up...was all taken care of by The Mitchell House! I knew everything was going to be taken care of for me just the way I wanted it to be.
