Describe how you price, such as by slice or by tier, for your cakes?
Prices are by the slice; however, if you purchase sheet cakes, it is by flat price per cake (i.e., 1/2 sheets are $40. Full sheets are $75, etc).
Does the price include the top tier of the cake?
Yes. In addition, the bride and groom will receive a complimentary replacement tier at the time their 1st anniversary comes around provided they keep in touch with us and let us know where in the Denver area they are living.
Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?
All cakes are 100% custom. There are no preset designs. We will also rent our faux display cakes if the bride and groom opt to go only with sheet cakes. The rental fee is dependent on the style and size of the display cake being rented, but averages $150. On return of the display cake in pristine condition, with no flower loss, no staining, no cracking or other breakage, 1/3 of the rental fee will be refunded.
What (if any) special ingredients, such as fresh fruits or farm-fresh butter, do you use in your cakes?
Our buttercream is French/Swiss buttercream made with sweet cream unsalted butter. We use real vanilla in our frostings. We use the highest quality fondant for our fondant-covered cakes and use premium ingredients in our fillings and cake recipes.
On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?
We try very carefully to plan our cakes so that they are made more not than 48 hours in advance of any wedding. We typically do not start the baking process until 24 hours prior and do not frost/decorate until the day of the wedding (or special event). This ensures a high quality, extremely fresh product.
How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
We work with only one couple per date. This means that in any weekend, we can accommodate only two couples (Saturday 1 and Sunday 1).
Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?
We ask for all details and contact information for florists, photographers, event planners, etc. In this way we can keep in touch with all important people related to the wedding.
What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out?
We can rent the silver plateaus, the cake knife and server, and the various stands we have. The deposit varies, but on good return, 1/2 (50%) of the deposit is refunded.
Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?
ALL cakes are hand-delivered. We do not allow the pickup of our wedding cakes by the wedding party. We assemble on-site and so require a minimum of 45 minutes prior to any wedding to set up the cake. Delivery is based on 5 mile increments. The first 5 mile zone is $5. Each additional 5 mile zone is $2.50.
