About
A self-described romantic, Brett Szemple is pursuing his lifelong passion for photography by capturing decisive moments as a wedding photographer. He earned a BFA from New Jersey City University in 2006. He also attended the acclaimed Missouri School of Photojournalism Workshop. He continues to master his art and push the creative boundaries within several professional communities and organizations.
Underlying Brett's artwork is his belief that photography sustains our memories and revitalizes our emotions, which keeps them alive. A great wedding photographer is an unobtrusive keen observer of people, one who sees subtlety and nuance, one that makes expressive heartfelt images while blending in seamlessly. Brett believes every wedding is a profoundly significant pivotal point, a time-honored ritual in the lives of two people. His approach cumulatively pieces together the magic of each moment to reflect the story of two lives brought together by love.
Brett's creative fusion utilizes elements of photojournalism, fashion and traditional photography. His style is said to be contemporary, edgy, sophisticated, and dynamic with an editorial feel. His coverage is responsive and comprehensive. The imagery is distinctive, energetic, fun, spontaneous and timeless treasures. A perfect combination suited for wedding photography; whether it's an elaborate affair or an intimate cocktail party. In the words of Alexia, a former client, "Brett, you brilliantly immortalized slivers of time, frozen yet fluid, raw yet refined." Henri Cartier-Bresson has said, "the decisive moment, it is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as the precise organization of forms which gives that event its proper expression." Brett has made this his photographic philosophy.
When Brett is not behind the camera collaborating with couples to document their wedding, he is creating clay and metal sculptures as well as pursuing other fine-art endeavors. Brett lives with his wife and two children on an old country farm in north central Pennsylvania. His home serves as an artist retreat to both accomplished and aspiring artists in all genres.

Brett and one of a kind! I'm so happy to have been apart of his project "Brides across America". We had lots of laughs and a great experience. I really hope to work with Brett again someday and can't wait to see the completed project! He and his crew are such talented photographers! I highly recommend them!
If I were to get married again, I already know who I would hire to photograph my wedding. Having worked with Brett Szemple on many weddings and photo projects, and after seeing his amazing talent, skill, technical ability, reliability, ease and charm first hand, I would highly recommend him. I would trust him to capture my own wedding in the most memorable and creative way. Brett’s a natural during an extremely fast paced day such as a wedding. I’ve seen him organize large bridal parties and hugh families in the tightest of time lines without missing a shot or a beat and at the same time keeping the crowd engaged and calm. He has the ability to captivate the crankiest child and get him or her involved in the moment. I haven't met anyone more honest and genuine, and you can be confident that there isn’t any part of your wedding day that Brett doesn’t have covered. His focus is on you, the bride, and your wedding memories. There is nothing like a photograph that brings you back to a wonderful moment in time, a precious memory. Brett’s photographs do just that.
Janice and I worked with Brett on a wedding in Maine last August on the hottest weekend of the summer. Working at that wedding was absolutely brutal with the only relief to be found in the commercial refrigerator in the kitchen. Brett never stopped shooting and got amazing shots from dawn to dusk that day of our couple. I highly recommend Brett and look forward to the time we will have the opportunity to work together again.
