The story of our wedding
I'm not one for surprises, and I'm kind of a master planner- so when it came to our proposal, I knew most of it was coming. But to be honest, a girl still isn't prepared for the overwhelming feelings of a man asking her to marry her, no matter how much of a planner she is.
Our night went from our first-date restaurant to ice skating under Christmas lights. The whole evening was so romantic. Although I knew that "tonight was the night" I was left on the edge of my seat wondering when he was going to pop the question. He waited until the end of the evening after asking a photographer to "take our photo" to take a knee and say the magic words. We both couldn't stop smiling for three days straight.
Then came 22 months of planning a wedding...
My now-husband, Steven, and I wanted a wedding as unique as our relationship. Something that felt like us; classic and fun, modern and timeless, and yet held true to the feeling of a traditional wedding. Thus our "Audrey Hepburn Goes To The Farm" affair to remember was born.
Continue reading »We were married on October 10, 2020, a date we had picked out before we were even engaged, at my parent horse farm that has been in my family for over 100 years. Much of our wedding we created together, building and shaping the farm into the perfect venue complete with top-notch vendors to bring our vision to life.
Our day included beautiful clear tents, custom lighting designs, furniture lounges, a gelato food truck, a sparkler exit, surprise performances, and so much more. It also held so much sentimental significance since my father married us in the exact place my parents were married 35 years before us. Even though COVID did cause our wedding to be a more intimate event, we wouldn't have changed it for the world! We gave face masks that sported our wedding hashtag as wedding favors!
Our wedding was truly a visualization of what Steven and I see our relationship as. The craziness of wedding planning actually brought us closer together and made us stronger. What a fantastic way to start our marriage! ❤
