The story of our wedding
We had our wedding during the COVD-19 Pandemic within NYS thus our wedding was what we had initially planned. We wanted 200 guests and expected pretty much a club like dance party where everyone would have a great time. What we had to do was have less than 50 guest, couldn't invite certain family members due to travel bans/self quarantine rules and we could not dance.
I say this because other than those two things, we got EVERYTHING we wanted and it was actually waaaay better than we had thought it would be.
We were able to cut our guest list down to the 50 but still had an accurate representation of who we wanted to invite (family members, friends from each of our individual lives, college friends and mutual friends). Our ceremony was exactly how we expected it, our choices of music was perfectly ideal, the food was phenomenal, to make up for all the extra time that we would be dancing we played a lot of interactive games with the crowd, and we even live streamed the important formalities for those who couldn't make it to watch. It took a lot of creativity but with all the vendors being super accommodating, we never felt like we had to work hard for our wedding to work. The 50 people also felt large enough. I couldn't imagine enjoying my wedding while still doing the required things like speak to everyone , take a lot of pictures etc etc. We went in just wanting to get it over but with those lowered expectations and focusing on the positive, we had probably the best and least stressful experience ever. Also we also saved a bunch of money due to cutting the crowd side and moving to a smaller room within the venue so we are putting that towards buying a house to further build our lives together!
The pandemic didn't hold us back, it made us trim the fat and realize what was really important.
