20 Sep, 2019The story of our wedding
I can't believe I'm making this post already! Our two-year engagement flew by so quickly and the day itself was here and gone before I knew what had even happened. When we arrived home from our honeymoon to Disney all of our wedding photos were waiting for us in the mail! What a quick turn around time!
Our day was absolutely magical! The weather was perfect - warm during the day and then cool once the sunset, not a cloud in the sky. We didn't really have any hiccups besides the bartender which was partly my fiance's fault. We bought boxed wine for the wedding because we were on a budget and couldn't afford better stuff. We poured the boxed wine into old wine bottles from his mom's workplace, so all the bottles had different labels on them from what was in them; but we had white wine in all the clear bottles and the red wine in the brown bottles. My fiance forgot to mention this to her so she thought we had all these different types when we really only had two. But didn't really end up being a big deal. Anyway, I felt fine and confident all day until I was in the processional line - I started crying right then and had a hard time holding it back - then when I saw him at the end of the aisle and he was also crying it was even harder! I actually told him when I got to him to stop or I wouldn't be able to stop!
Continue reading »We had a self uniting ceremony where we announced ourselves married rather than have an officiant marry us (the girl in the photos is my sister who acted as our Master of Ceremonies and just read the ceremony and moved everything along but has no actual authority to marry anyone.) Instead of a unity candle, we put together a fight box with a bottle of wine and rum and letters to each other, to be opened if our marriage ever hits a really rough patch (or if that doesn't happen - which is always the goal - on our milestone anniversaries). We also did a ring warming where we sent the rings through the guests for them to hold and warm with their love and prayers during the ceremony.
The only advice I can really give is to listen to yourself and your fiance. Don't let the naysayers into your head. We planed this wedding for 2 years and put months of hard work and energy into making it as beautiful as we could and once everyone says it they loved it! We have gotten so many compliments on it and not a single bad comment, and I don't think it's just because people don't want to say anything to our faces.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the photographer, please comment or message me if you guys have any questions about our day!
