25 Aug, 2018The story of our wedding
I met my husband, Reynard,my freshman year of college. He was always very nice and making everyone laugh. Reynard and I got to know more of each other more. We could talk about everything - guy problems, girl problems, life problems, etc. My friends said Reynard liked me and I refused to believe it because, at the time, He was like a brother to me.
Reynard moved to Dallas after my sophomore year, but we still kept in touch. One night, my sorority sisters and I went to Dallas for a party where we met up with our fraternity brothers at UTA, Reynard included. After the party, we all went to waffle house to get something to eat. everyone was laughing and talking with each other, but somehow Reynard and I ended up talking only to each other. To this day, my sorority sisters STILL say that our first date was at waffle house. When I was in Dallas for avisit, Reynard asked me on a date. He wanted to make me dinner and go to a movie. I don't remember what he made, but it was not good. In fact, it was really bad. So we went to get food before the movie started. About 4 months after that, Reynard and I were on the phone and I was complaining about how all guys are the same. He told me that he is not like any other guy. He said, "Jasmine, I have always liked you a lot. and for the past year you have told me guys are dogs. But if I was your boyfriend, I would treat you as the beautiful queen you are." Though I rolled my eyes at the moment, I was still in shock, but in a good way. My response - "okay, sure". Seven years later, I married him!
Continue reading »Reynard and I also wanted an intimate setting - to be surrounded by people who love us and support our next milestone as husband and wife. When speaking with our wedding planner, it was important to still keep an intimate experience with our large guest count. And at the end of the day, she completely exceeded our expectations.
As a little girl, people would expect my favorite disney princess to be Princess Jasmine. However. it was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I always admired the royalesque feel and whimsical approach to the movie. When I first met with my wedding planner, I mentioned I wanted a "soft" theme of Beauty and the Beast. I didn't want movie characters at the door greeting guests, but I wanted each person to feel catered to in a royal sense - to Be Our Guest. She took my vision and completely brought it to life.
If anyone were to ask how to describe Reynard and I, they woould say we love to see people in the most joyous element and we love to have fun and dance. Though I wanted a night of elegance, I also wanted people to have the time of their life!
