A Tuscan Affair: The Wedding of Cassie & Nick Zajac
An elegant destination wedding rooted in resilience, romance, and refined celebration
In the heart of the Val d’Orcia, where golden hills meet endless vineyards and ancient olive groves, Cassie and Nick Zajac were married on April 25, 2025, at the storied Borgo Sant’Ambrogio estate just outside of Pienza. With 86 beloved guests from across the United States, the couple hosted a wedding weekend that blended timeless Italian charm with deeply personal details—an experience curated with care, beauty, and intention.
Theirs is a love story born in crisis and shaped by strength. Cassie and Nick first met in March 2020 while working in a COVID ICU, side-by-side in the most intense of circumstances. A snowboarding accident that left Nick with a broken leg brought them even closer, forging a bond that thrived under pressure and grew in trust. In May 2024, during a trip to Ireland, they became engaged at the romantic Kilkea Castle—marking the beginning of a new chapter and the inspiration for a wedding that would reflect their shared love of travel, beauty, and togetherness.

The weekend began with a warm welcome dinner at Ristorante La Macine, where guests gathered over traditional Tuscan fare, laughter, and anticipation. But it was the ceremony that truly captured the essence of their love—set under the open sky and surrounded by natural beauty, officiated by a close friend who spoke with humor, heart, and even a few words of wisdom from their golden retriever, Cliff.
Cassie and Nick exchanged their own vows, written with sincerity and emotion that resonated through the courtyard. The groom, overcome with feeling, paused often as he shared the depth of his devotion—a moment that brought nearly every guest to tears and defined the tenderness of the day.
Music by Firenze Classica, a refined string trio, underscored the celebration with genre-spanning arrangements—from classical to contemporary, The Beatles to Bieber—creating a soundtrack that was elegant yet unexpected.
As dusk settled, the villa’s courtyard transformed into a candlelit dreamscape. Beneath a canopy of twinkling lights, dinner was served al fresco by Il Sorriso Ricevimenti, who brought the rich flavors of the region to life with rustic sophistication. Minimal yet lush floral arrangements accented the tables without overpowering the historic charm of the venue.
Perhaps the most whimsical detail was the couple’s travel-inspired seating chart, titled “Where in the World Are You Sitting?” Each table was named for a country Cassie and Nick had visited together, allowing guests to step into their shared love of exploration—a reminder of how travel had shaped their story and inspired them to offer this experience to the people they love most.
As the evening continued, Radio Kings Band took the celebration into the night with high-energy vocals and dancing under the stars. Every element of the wedding, from custom coozies featuring Cliff, to signature cocktails, Jordan almond favors handmade by the bride, and carefully curated playlists, was a reflection of the couple’s spirit—thoughtful, joyful, and personal.
The vision behind the weekend was brought to life by Pia and Michele of Olive in Love Tuscany, whose expertise and artistry were matched only by their genuine warmth. Their love for each other, and for making dream weddings come true, was evident in every graceful detail.
Capturing the depth and beauty of the celebration were videographer Paul Van and photographer Gessica of Introspettive Photography, whose work preserved the emotional richness of the weekend with timeless elegance.
The festivities concluded with wine tastings and dinner in Montepulciano, giving guests one final taste of Tuscany before their travels continued. For Cassie and Nick, this celebration was more than a wedding—it was a tribute to resilience, a gathering of souls, and a reflection of the life they’ve built and the journey still ahead.
