The story of our wedding
Nicholas and I are a very unique couple, we do not like the ordinary we like different! So many details from our day described who we are as people and things we enjoy in our life. At our sign in table at the reception we had guests at our wedding sign records from artists that Nicholas and I enjoy listening too. Some of our favorites are ChrismStapleton, Elvis and The Beatles. This was something that meant a lot to us and we now have the records hung in our house for many years to come. Donuts are one of myfavorite breakfast foods so of course we had a donut bar for our guests!!! Nicholas’s favorite food is POPCORN so yes we had a popcorn machine at the wedding with the cutest little baggies that said “Thanks for Popping By”. We LOVE to dance so we had music playing all night long and you bet we were on the dance floor!! I also love unique vintage items so adding some of those décor pieces into the wedding day was special to me, like my Grandmothers buffet that we put the donuts on!
The most memorable part of our day was having everyone we love and care about the most in one room with us. That day it brought everyone we love closer together, opened up our hearts and depend ourappreciation for all the beautiful people in our lives that have given us the love andsupport the last 10 years. We were so lucky and had the most beautiful weather (sunny and 75 degrees) for an August day in Iowa. Nicholas and I together decided that we wanted to share our vows in front of all of our loved ones at the ceremony. As I was reading my vows in front of everyone the microphone stopped working and I knew in his moment I couldn't panic I had to be strong. I gave Nicholas a smile and finished my vows with my robust strong heart. This reminded me that we are stronger together withone another because I'm not sure if I could have done it without him by my side. Theconfetti cannon exit was SO EPIC!!! In the moment we felt so loved and surrounded byso many beautiful people that matter so much to us. I remember Nicholas looking at meand me thinking this was by far the best day of our lives!I knew when I started planning I wanted my girls to wear jumpsuits and hats and boy didthey KILL THE LOOK!! They all were not so sure that it would work being that there was10 of them and I had to find the same jumpsuit that fit all different heights, so I saidchallenge accepted :) First I wanted to make sure all my girls felt comfortable in themand if not I would keep looking. I knew that if I found the right jumpsuit the girls could wear them again to another event and SAVE MONEY!!!!! Also with the hats I knew the girls could wear them again whenever they would like. Originally I wanted to wear a jumpsuit instead of a wedding dress for myself (Yes that is how much I love Jumpsuits!) I ended up deciding to wear a dress because I have looked forward to dress shoppingmy whole life and made the decision to wear a jumpsuit when I was getting ready! Thisjumpsuit fit me like a glove and made me feel so beautiful and comfortable in my own skin. My wedding dress was everything I ever dreamed it to be very Boho but still flowy so that I could dance the night away with my husband.
Nicholas and I have been together for 10 years now! It has been the best 10 years ofmy life. He is my rock and one of the most hard working people I know. When you arearound Nicholas you can’t help but have a good time. We have an amazing support offamily and friends and have been on this journey with us and now going to continue tobe there for us for years to come. Our colorful Volkswagen van was the talk of the party and it had people turning their heads in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa! We even had people that were just walkingthe streets of downtown going into the Volkswagen taking pictures HAVING A BLAST!!! One of my favorite things on 08/24/19 that I carried with me all day long was a piece ofmy grandfather’s handkerchief in the shape of a heart that my mother sewed on theinside of my dress. My grandfather passed away a few years back and this was just areminder to myself that he may not be physically with us but would be looking down onus all day long.
