22 Nov, 2020The story of our wedding
We got married surrounded a small group of those dearest to us, with details that made the day feel both comfortable and meaningful to us and our guests. My family and I stayed the night at the bed and breakfast venue, The Rooms Up There, and had breakfast at local Marshall shops. To get ready for the day, dear friends did my hair and makeup, and Sweet Root Village designed an incredible floral mantel for dinner and a magical dessert display around bundt cakes from Red Truck Bakery and cream puffs from Buttercream Bakeshop DC. Abby Grace Photography captured all of the details, and was there not just as our photographer but also our advocate, helping us to relax, connect, and enjoy quiet moments together. Our outdoor ceremony included music by friends, handwritten and traditional vows, and a time of prayer and singing. Although it wasn't planned, church bells from down the street started ringing at the end! After the ceremony, there was a brief reception of "Cake and Kombucha," then we walked down main street to Field and Main for an delicious, intimate dinner. We enjoyed the slow pace and meaningful connections that resulted from having an intimate wedding, and are grateful for all of the love and talent that was poured in to our special day.
