The story of our wedding
Simply put: It was love at first swipe ;)
Taylor and Kyle "matched" on an online dating app three years ago. Romantic, right?
On their first date Kyle took Taylor to Naked Fish, a sushi joint in Salt Lake City, one cold November evening. Taylor was intrigued as she approached Kyle waiting outside the restaurant, standing in his puffer coat, sporting a long beard (her favorite) and a flat brim hat.
That night they immediately bonded over their love for good sushi, appreciation for the mountains/snowboarding, and deep curiosity in the metaphysical. Kyle was smitten to say the least, although playing it cool, he waited a couple weeks before asking Taylor out again. When he did, it was to watch a UFC fight with his friends, and intimidated, Taylor politely declined. Determined to hang out again, Kyle followed up a week later. This time Taylor suggested they go see a movie about backcountry skiing. It was a hit ;).
One month later Kyle asked Taylor to be his girlfriend, four months later they moved in together, and six months after that they got couple tattoos. Taylor and Kyle are totally and utterly obsessed with each other. They have enjoyed the last three years together living in an old bungalow near downtown Salt Lake, with six sassy chickens, and one plump bulldog (Dozer!). They have not only traveled to local spots like Little Cottonwood Canyon and enjoyed the world's best snowboarding, visited Southern Utah for off-roading and camping adventures, but Kyle and Taylor have traveled all over together. They have vacationed in Vancouver, Jamaica, California (hello, Coachella! Disneyland!), Colorado, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Florida, and cruised the Bahamas together. Not to mention last summer they lived in Atlanta for four months. They crave new adventures and enjoy experiencing everything life has to offer together. But let's be honest. Their day-to-day consists of walking Dodi down Loveland Ave, ordering copious amounts of takeout, listening to good music, snowboarding in the winter, and lounging on their patio during summer.
The night Kyle proposed to Taylor, she couldn't stop laughing. Taylor was absolutely elated. Kyle surprised her by asking her hand in marriage right after they landed in NYC on their way to visit Taylor's family for Christmas. After a little coaxing, Taylor fell asleep during the ride to Connecticut from the airport. Kyle was 100% relying on her typical sleepy nature to trick her as they drove deeper into the city. Taylor woke up after hearing their driver ask them to look at the Christmas lights. Not knowing what was going on, Taylor started to panic and asked Kyle why the driver took them to Rockefeller Center instead of towards Connecticut! With a big smile on his face, Kyle convinced Taylor to hop out of the car and go look at the Christmas tree. After a short walk, Kyle pulled Taylor close, whispered words of his love, and got down on one knee. Late night Christmas shoppers and tourists cheered and applauded as Taylor couldn't stop giggling while she told him, "YES!"
The two love birds tied the knot on June 1, 2019 in the Catskills surrounded by their closest family, friends and fireflies at an ethereal setting at Handsome Hollow. It was a very intimate outdoor wedding ceremony with only 53 guests, where the two recited their own vows in the woods among the ferns and trees. They later partied the night away in the large barn, taking breaks to share the Shot Ski (a nod to Utah) with guests, take tons of photos in the VW PhotoBus, and roast s'mores around the firepit. Their favorite moments were when Taylor's father saw her in her dress for the first time, when Taylor and Kyle recieted their vows to each other, and when the two were able to see their parents dancing hand-in-hand on the dance floor. It was a magical evening filled with laughter, love and sore feet. They will remeber it for a lifetime <3.
