5 Jul, 2019The story of our wedding
Our July 5th wedding can best be described as whimsical, elegant and simple. We planned our micro wedding in just under three months. Knowing that Jason was leaving in the fall to protect and serve our country; we wanted to share this moment in time with our family and friends. Nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina,Black Mountain is 15 miles East of Asheville. With Jason having been raised in Asheville and me living in Black Mountain for a time after graduate school the Monte Vista Boutique Hotel seemed the perfect place. Located on State Street and off of New Bern Street we had no idea the magic that was in store. We currently live in New Bern so that alone began our weekend of wonder and not so coincidental coincidences. Knowing we wanted a small and intimate micro wedding to truly honor our commitment to one another ,this destination seemed perfect. Being as Jason has dedicated his life to serving our country starting back in college as his years as a midshipman at the Naval Academy the fourth of July weekend seemed ideal . Our vendors were all local down to North Carolina Cheer Wine and Poppys Hand-Crafted Popcorn as our favors. Our photographer Amelia Fletcher Photography gave us a one of a kind experience, helping us clarify our vision and pointing us in the right direction from the beginning. Our florist Lindsay from Wild Mountain Blossoms spent tireless hours helping me create the perfect color palate. From there we worked with Gabriel and Courtney from Hey Hey Cupcakes to create the perfect summer cake of lemon cake with blueberry filling with a cheesecake icing, only to be surpassed by the local sourwood honey and lavender cupcakes and cookies and cream cupcakes for those of our guest with more traditional taste buds. Chef Cole at Milton’s located inside the Monte Vista Boutique Hotel knocked it out of the park with southern friend chicken, or mountain trout for our entrees. Following dinner, we joined our guest for celebratory toast and felt the love in the air as paper airplanes glided past us into our new forever as husband and wife. It could not have been more magical and our team of highly talented professionals brought our vision to life. Wishing yall were all there, we hope you can feel our special day through our real wedding experience.
