James Holmes and Lauren Holmes's Wedding in Monett, Missouri
Rustic Fall Burgundy
J&L
13 Oct, 2019The story of our wedding
Our wedding took place on my (now husband’s) family farm in a small town called Wheaton, Missouri . Seven generations of Holmes have taken care of the farm and we decided there was no better place to have a wedding. Our wedding was very small and intimate and it was important for us to keep the cost low but not sacrifice the small details that made our big day so different and special. A lot of the decorations and even some accessories were made by myself (the bride) or my family. Lots of our family came together to really bring it together. My uncle played his cello while we walked down the aisle and my brother was the dj! My mother in law worked with a local flower shop to do the flower arrangements. My parents took care of our catering from a local barbecue joint and a family friend from our church did our cake. Even our officiant was a family friend my husband knew his whole life! We were really blessed with the amount of help we had! Our wedding consisted of the colors navy, burgundy (or to wedding shops “wine), white, and gold. Our theme had notes from the Disney/Pixar movie “Up!” You can see those details in the cake, the song that was played while we walked down the aisle, and the gazillion balloons we intended to use as a balloon launch instead of a rice toss. Unfortunately we had some issues with the helium so all the balloons were deflated before we could do the balloon launch. But hey if that’s the worst thing to happen at the wedding we did alright. All credit for our photos come from our amazing photographer/friend from Springfield, Missouri Mason Siedel who went above and beyond! And some photos from our other guests who also captured our big day.
