My beautiful wife proposed in a hot air balloon while we were soaring over the Tuscan countryside in Italy - so it was always going to be hard to top that moment... but our wedding day did a pretty amazing job.
We knew we wanted to get married in the spring, so we could fill a barn with flowers and gorgeous pastel colours - and Old Luxters Barn in Henley-on-Thames (just outside of London) was the perfect venue.
We didn't know what each other were going to wear, but both ended up in stunning lace dresses that complemented the rustic feel of the day perfectly.
Our (shared) bridesmaids wore pastel skirts with lace tops, echoing the pastel colours in our flower arrangements and bouquets.
We held the ceremony inside the barn filled with fairy lights and seated our guests in a horseshoe style to make sure everyone could see every moment of our wonderful ceremony, lead by Lynn Tierney Celebrants.
We then headed to the marquee where drinks were served. We'd filled this with pastel-coloured bunting and honeycomb balls, our beautiful wedding cake made by a family friend, and a tower of donuts!Continue reading »
The venue is also a working vineyard, so while the guests enjoyed champagne and canapes, we went with our photographer, Clare Randell Photography to have a photoshoot amongst the vines - with the dramatic sky giving us some gorgeous shots!
The wedding breakfast was held again in the bard, where the centrepieces were wine bottles filled with fairy lights, and each wine label was the name of the table - named after an important place.
The food was provided by the caterers at the venue and was simply delicious! Welsh Rarebit Tart followed by chicken, followed by the most divine chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream!
We finished by dancing the night away to the DJ who was also provided by the venue - making the planning stages an absolute breeze.
It was the best day of our lives!
