14 Feb, 2021The story of our wedding
Like many, the pandemic cost us our venue, but instead of postponing (for the 2nd time), we decided to get married outside, instead of in the event center, on the same grounds as originally planned: Cox Arboretum in Dayton, Ohio. It was 19 degrees at 11am, so absolutely frigid. A total of 34 people chose to come anyway, and were spread out across the park's arbor area.
Our officiant and photographer stuck with us through all the changes that had to take place to pull this off, our bakery and florist both agreed to deliver to our hotel room by 9am on that Sunday morning.
It was absolutely stunning...the snowy paths, the arbor, the ponds at the park with the ice along the waters edge. The park was a fantastic backdrop for saying "I do". Our flowers looked amazing against the snow - white oriental lilies and dark red alstroemeria. It was a winter fairytale.
We didn't have a reception, but we cut our magnificent cake in our hotel room and boxed it in little clamshell containers for our guests to take on the go. Our first dance was witnessed by our 2 youngest daughters and facebook live.

We will be having a big, outdoor BBQ style party 6 months from the wedding date.
