3 Aug, 2018The story of our wedding
Dillon and I were on a roadtrip through some of the national parks. We stopped to have lunch at a picnic area in Yellowstone. The next thing I knew, he was on one knee with the most georgous backdrop of the river, trees and mountains and the rest is history! We are both pretty outdoorsy people, so we knew we wanted our ceremony to be outside, but we still wanted to feel and look elegant for the day. We celebrated our big day on a magnificant stage in the middle of an Oregon forest at Horning's Hideout just outside of Portland. The look and feel of the wedding was shabby-chic/ romantic vintage. The colors we chose were what set the tone for our vision: blush, lavender, eucalyptus and subtle touches of gold. The majority of the decor was diy or found at thrift stores and estate sales. We spent just over a year collecting mix and match china, oil lamps and lace in order to create the look we wanted. It was amazing to see everyting come together! One of my favorite details were the small glass medicine bottles we used for our centerpieces. They helped the vintage look and also saved on flower costs, plus our guests loved them! We rented mix and match wooden chairs, chandeliers and a few other pieces from a vintage furniture vendor, this really helped to pull the entire look together. A few hundred feet of fairy lights helped to bring out the romantic feel and a sparkler send off ended the night with a bang! Family is everything, we would not have pulled it off without the help and support of our family and friends! If I did it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. One of the moments I will cherish the most is when we left dinner a bit early and wandered the grounds of the venue with the photographer and videographer. It was so special to be able to have some alone time and escape from the go, go ,go that is wedding day chaos (we also got some amazing photos from this time alone). It is true what they say, the day will be here before you know it and it will be over in the blink of an eye, so making time to spend just the two of you is so important. Time to reflect on the day so far, the events still to come and realizing that in the end, we married our best friend.
