8 Nov, 2018The story of our wedding
My spouse and I met in grade school. He is three years older than me, but we grew up with the same families and were always at the same places. We officially 'connected' and talked in 2010. We chatted not-too-seriously for about six months. He went back to college as I was starting — he was in a different state and I stayed in my hometown. We dated other people, but when we reconnected back in 2015, there were no questions that we were getting married.
My friends had organized a girl's day vineyard trip on a Sunday. It’s hard to get a group of people together to drive out from the city into wine country, so of course I was in! I knew we would take pictures because the vineyard is gorgeous, so we all dressed up. Not only had my friends been part of the plan all along, but my family, Dan's family, the rest of our friends, and the entire staff at the winery were in on the plan as well. My sister and friends were hiding in the winery's bridal suite, and the staff were on walkie talkies announcing my arrival.

A few more steps and I saw a path of rose petals leading to a circle of rose petals where my fiancé-to-be was standing with a rose in his hands waiting for me. After the proposal, everyone came out of the bushes, including my friend photographer who had captured everything. We had our first dance as an engaged couple in front of everyone at the winery. He had been planning this for months, and it could not have been more amazing. To top off a perfect day, he even rented a party bus to and from the winery for us and all our friends! Best. Day. Ever.
My gown was not only the most beautiful dress I've ever worn, but it was surprisingly the most comfortable. I wanted it to be classy but also timeless, and I think Vera Wang does an amazing job with all of her dresses capturing that. You never want to look back and be like "What was I thinking?". I've always loved the idea of a lavish style wedding but secretly wanted a boho outdoor wedding. I think I did a great job capturing both of these. We got married at one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world, and our reception was at the magnificent Union Station Grand Hall Ballroom in St. Louis. I incorporated my love of boho-outdoors with all of the eucalyptus and greenery I added to my wedding. I just think it's beautiful. We had the most amazing light show before we entered our reception. I'll never forget the look on Dan's face when he saw me come down the aisle.
