Christopher and Claudia's Wedding in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
Romantic Winter White
C&C
29 Dec, 2023The story of our wedding
Chris and I met at a Halloween party in 2020. Since that day, we have become inseparable. In fact, we got engaged one year later, on the anniversary of our first meeting! He proposed to me in front of our family and friends in Epcot in Orlando, Florida (Disney Park we absolutely love and visit yearly!) Since getting engaged in 2021, Chris and I have dreamed of finally celebrating our love with our closest friends and family. Due to my being a full-time law student at the time, we had to postpone the wedding bells until after my graduation and bar passage in September of 2022.
Immediately thereafter, we began our planning process by selecting our gorgeous venue in Granada, Spain. The reason for choosing this location was because my closest family, including my 96-year-old grandmother, resides in Spain and unfortunately could not travel to the U.S. Because I lost my father to cancer in 2015, Chris was unable to meet him, and he obviously could not walk me down the aisle. Hence, it was crucial that my Spain family be present to celebrate the most important day of our lives with us.

I instantly fell in love with the vineyard, from its incredible location wedged amid the Granada mountains to its delicious and fresh wine curated onsite. Thus, the decision was an easy one that was ultimately confirmed when Chris and I traveled to Spain, and he likewise fell in love with the venue.
Of course, planning and executing a wedding in a different continent is not without difficulties. However, we made it happen. Through countless Zoom meetings, international phone calls, and endless conversations with numerous vendors, we formed lifelong friendships with the people who prioritized our vision and helped make our dreams come true. I had a set vision for our winter wedding: lots of baby breath and roses with greenery peeking through. We selected a combination of roses, including Modern and English roses from the ceremony to the reception hall. It was also important to incorporate black and gold accents.
That vision came to life beautifully thanks to our incredible florist, who listened and more than exceeded our expectations! She went above and beyond for us, even creating TWO bouquets for me to choose from! I ultimately decided on an English Rose bouquet that was just perfect. We had the absolute best time and are eternally grateful for all they did.
My wedding planner made sure each detail was in place, and our vendors even outsourced some of the items I just NEEDED to have. Our wedding was at a vineyard; hence, we incorporated wine all throughout: “find your bottle” seating chart with wine labels for each table, custom cork table sign holders, custom mini wine bottles as favors for guests, wine stations all throughout, and our rehearsal cocktail was held in a beautiful wine cellar. It was also important to incorporate my father’s presence throughout the wedding, which was beautifully done by having his charm and photo wrapped around my bouquet, his picture with us at the reception, and a special seat with signage reserved for him at the ceremony.
In sum, it was an incredible day filled with love, laughter, and an ocean of happy tears. We wish only that we could relive this day again!
