Charles and Rykiel's Wedding in Portland, Maine

The story of our wedding

We both live in NYC and having a very simple, natural wedding was important to us. We had all of our very best friends there and on a beautiful location at Cunningham Farm and Estates. All of our vendors were local to southern Maine and were all totally amazing. Our rehearsal dinner was on the water as well as our farewell brunch, while the wedding itself was in the barn/natural forest of New Gloucester Maine. I partially grew up in the area so it held an extra special meaning to me. It was so much fun overall!

We got engaged on the Brooklyn Bridge, where Charlie surprised me as I was walking down it with a friend. Then we went to dinner since it was actually my birthday at the time, and all my friends were waiting there! They all yelled surprise just thinking it was a surprise birthday party, but then I surprised THEM with the engagement and literally everyone was crying it was insane.

My favorite part of the wedding was by far the last song "country road" where all the vendors had left, the band put on their DJ playlist, and every one of my friends joined arm in arm and rocked in a big circle to the song to close out the night. Then Charlie and I got in the middle at the end and had a final dance, and everyone in the outer circle came running in when the song was over and the whole room was in a massive hug. I still get chills writing about it.
