21 Jul, 2019The story of our wedding
I met Brian over Snapchat. I was with my friend and she was sending photos to him, so we took a picture together and he replied "Who dat?". From there, we began messaging each other, and decided to meet in person. I had just moved to the area, and was staying in a tiny studio apartment with my best friend. We invited Brian and his friend Colton (best man) over for some food, drinks, and games. We stayed up all night having fun, talking, and getting to know each other. The night started late, so the boys ended up staying the night. I expected them to leave the next morning, but Brian just hung around. I did what I thought was the best way to make a guy leave-- take off my makeup from the night before. I was wrong. Brian pulled me into his arms and said, 'You are just as beautiful". After that, we were inseparable. Brian asked me to be his girlfriend two weeks later on July 15th, 2014. I was unsure if I wanted to date seriously because I was just starting nursing school and I didn't know if I would have the time to commit to a new relationship. I decided that I didn't want to lose this one, and that I was ready to be with him. He must have known that I was going to say yes because when he asked me officially, he gifted me a framed blue morpho butterfly and said "I thought this was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, but then I met you".
Continue reading »On our four year anniversary, Brian and I went on his company trip which was a cruise to Ensenada. We had the time of our lives. We drank, we ate, and we gambled in the casino on the ship. We had bought the horseback riding experience and it was absolutely amazing. At this point, it was the night before our anniversary. We got back to the ship after our excursion, and we showered and took a nap. We took our time getting ready for dinner, and even saw a rock show after we ate. It was a pretty normal night. It was 1130 pm, and Brian had said he needed to go to the room and that we would meet up with our friends at midnight. He expected me to stay in the casino, but I apparently ruined his plan and went with him back to the room. Brian had locked himself in the bathroom for 20 minutes claiming he had sea sickness. I was waiting for him on the bed, starting to get tired and questioning if I would go back out. Finally at 1155, Brian exited the bathroom stating that we are leaving to go hangout with friends. With 2 minutes of disagreement, Brian finally convinced me to go with him. We head out to the casino, and I noticed that Brian had took us the wrong way. We exited the elevator and I look up at the signs to try and find our way to the casino. Brian grabs my hand and starts walking me to the main staircase of the ship. I saw rose petals on the ground. 'Perfect' from Ed Sheeran began to play. Photos of us were plastered all over the columns of the staircase. Brian led me to the top of the staircase, and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The ugly cry was real. I said yes to the man of my dreams on July 15, 2018.
Brian and I wanted to get married close to our dating anniversary. We chose July 21st, 2019 at a beautiful venue in Aliso Viejo, CA. Aliso Viejo Wedgewood looked over the golf course. There were huge, green rolling hills with views of Saddleback mountain. Our color scheme was white, silver, and hints of royal blue. The royal blue was symbolic of the blue morpho butterfly he gave me when he asked me to be his girlfriend. I even wore a blue morpho butterfly in my hair for the wedding.
We shared our first dance to 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran sang by Uncle Don. We wanted to incorporate special moments that we shared in our lives into our wedding. I felt that it was very personalized and unique. We said 'I do' in front of our friend and family on the most perfect day in July. My favorite part of the wedding, besides my husbands vows to me, was the dance party after. It was my goal to get everyone on the dance floor. However, there was no persuasion needed. All of Brian's friends were dancing, his dad, my 3 year old nephew, and even my grandma was busting a move. The whole day was really a dream come true. I just wish I could relive that day over and over.
