I had the special privilege of fulfilling a lifelong dream to be married in the same dress as my Mom (& Dad) in 1987 and paternal Grandmother (& Grandfather) in 1951. My mom changed the neckline, I lowered the back & added buttons, but otherwise it’s the same beautiful dress first worn 67 years ago. When we originally opened the box we weren’t sure if we could get it back to an ivory color, so I went and found my separate dream/reception dress. Thanks to some miracle workers it was all made possible with a few outfit swaps on the day of! You'll see a picture of my dad's cufflinks, they were made to include pieces of fabric from the dress.
We had our wedding bands engraved, but we kept the saying a secret from one another. Neither of us had any idea what the other had engraved on our ring, until after the ceremony. “I just love you” was engraved on both rings. We made sure that our family and personal touches were everywhere-- the friend who introduced us officiated, our sweet friends that are musicians played our first song, and we had pictures of our parents and grandparents on display at the reception. ⠀
