23 Jun, 2023The story of our wedding
Our wedding was located at a local winery/vineyard. We were married on our 9 year anniversary. As a DIY bride, most of the decorations were done by myself and family and friends willing to lend me a hand. Our moderately sized wedding hosted roughly 100 guests, and it was a dream from start to finish.
Our ceremony was in the homestead room of The Sycamore at Mallow Run, located on the right side of the building. We had a window wall as our backdrop that overlooked the scenic outdoors. The center of the building, the gallery, hosted the cocktail hour for our guests, with a piano playing in the corner. As entertainment for our guests, while we were taking photos, we had an array of activities and displays they could enjoy with their drinks and appetizers. Some including: activities boxes and coloring books for the kids, slideshow including photos of our family and friends throughout our lives, wall of photos from our engagement shoot, a sip and solve crossword puzzle by the bar, our guest book-clock to sign, and a display from our parents wedding days. We had both our mothers wedding dresses on display by the piano with photos from their wedding day, along with a special note from us to our parents.

After cocktail hour concluded, everyone moved to the Estate Room on the left hand side of the building for the reception. Hosting speeches, dances, dinner, and lots of partying. At each placement, every guest received our "Newlywed Post" and a personalized pen. The newsletter included a thank you note from us, fun facts about the wedding party, guest awards (longest married, furthest traveled, youngest guest, last married, next married, etc.), vendor shout outs, and on the back some entertainment while waiting for dinner: a comic section, wedding joke section, sudoku and crossword puzzles, as well as other fun information. In addition, to make our guests evening more enjoyable, bathroom baskets were put together for both the men's and women's including anything they could need throughout the night: hair spray, make up touch ups, tissues, ibuprofen, spray deodorant, bobby pins, single use toothbrush, floss, make up wipes mini nail kit, first aid kit, and more.
At the end of the evening, as a late night snack for the way home, everyone was able to take home individual bags of popcorn (flavor option: butter, cheese, and caramel.) We not only wanted to enjoy our day, but we wanted to create a stress free enjoyable evening for our guests. All around it was a magical day. We had a wonderful time, and from all accounts from our guests, they did too.
