13 Oct, 2019The story of our wedding
We held our wedding at The Nonantum Resort, the spot where we first met working 9 years ago. We had an amazing tent on the back lawn beneath the full moon with 170 of our very favorite people. The staff at The Nonantum is like family to us, and every person there went the extra mile to make our wedding perfect.
The ceremony was held in a church and was officiated by one of our closest friends. After the ceremony Andrew surprised me with a 1950 pickup truck, which he drove us through town in over to the beach for some photos. He had even met up with the owner of the truck the week before the wedding to practice driving it! Everyone waved and said congratulations as we drove by, and we felt like royalty.
We then arrived at The Nonantum for cocktail hour, featuring endless raw oysters, mini beef wellingtons, and many other delicious bites. There was an old-fashioned VW bus-turned-photo booth there with a marquee reading "Just Married" that the guests had a blast taking funny photos in. The evening was starting to cool off, so we provided pashminas in various colors for our guests, which were a huge hit. The cocktail hour was a great time for us to catch up with our friends and family and soak in the moment.

The speeches by our Maid of Honor and Best Man were funny and emotional, dinner was to die for, and the dance floor was packed all night! We loved stopping to talk with every guest; everyone made us feel truly loved, and we both commented to each other later that the night made us realize just how much our friends and family care about us.
Andrew and I are both huge bookworms, so we used books as our wedding favors. We wrapped them in brown kraft paper and wrote only the genre and year of publication on the front so guests could choose something they thought they might like but still be surprised. We continue to get compliments about how thoughtful and unique our favors were, and I am so glad we went through the effort of gathering all the books. Andrew and I also chose to give each other a book as a wedding gift, and we were pleasantly surprised to find we had chosen the same book for each other. It was a sweet reminder of how similar we are and how well we know each other.
There isn't a thing I would change about our wedding. It was elegant and fun, and every detail was in place. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to celebrate with the people we love most, and we continue to look back at our photos in utter awe.
