We are so grateful to have had Zak capture our wedding day! From start to finish, he was professional, creative, and an absolute joy to work with. He gave clear direction to make sure our photos were beautifully composed and expertly corralled our families when needed, which is no small task!
He made incredible use of the forest backdrop at Tall Timber Barn and had no shortage of creative ideas, while also being completely open to our suggestions. His calm and steady presence throughout the day was something we truly appreciated.
Most importantly, he captured every detail and all of the moments that made our day special. Looking back at the photos brings us right back to the joy of that day, and we couldn’t be more thankful. We will treasure these images forever! -

Zak was the ultimate professional and our wedding photographs came out better than I ever could have hoped. The wedding was outside and it was a bit cold but he captured everything so beautifully! I hired Zak based on the referral of a friend and would highly recommend him to anyone getting married in the Scranton area. -

Amazing to work with! Zak was our first vendor chosen for our wedding, and we could not have been happier with this decision. He was responsive, clearly communicative, set expectations early, and helped to guide us as we tried to figure out what exactly we needed, making us feel very comfortable. On top of that, and very very importantly, the photos taken were absolutely stunning and beautiful!! We loved Zak's natural style & he managed to capture amazing photography not just of key wedding moments, but also beautiful candids and unexpected moments throughout the night. Zak went above and beyond to make sure he could support us and to find beautiful photo opportunities we hadn't even thought of. In addition, he was such a pleasure to work with and everyone involved enjoyed working with him as well: incredibly friendly, accommodating, and thoughtful in every piece of the process. We hope to work with Zak & his team again when we have the chance and we love the memories he captured!! -

I can’t say enough good things about Alex and Zak! Our wedding had to be postponed a year due to Corona virus and Zak was so easy and flexible to work with!
Alex was our photographer the day of our wedding. He was absolutely amazing! I was so nervous the morning of the wedding. Alex completely put my mind at ease. He even went and got my uncle who is disabled and extra mask when his didn’t fit! Then helped him down the rocky staircase. He was so personable and all my guests made comments on how much they loved him!
I was even more nervous during the ceremony and after I forgot to take a bunch of group photos. Some how Alex got everyone! I really didn’t want super posed pictures and Alex did just that. You can literally see all the love in the room through the pictures! Love Alex and Zak literally looking for an excuse to hire them again! Best money I spent on that day. I love that I can relive it through these pictures. -

Amazing Photography
Zak was amazing! So happy we choose him as our photographer. He not only took beautiful photos but helped ensure everything was running smoothly. Most importantly he helped me stay calm/sane, while my family pulled me is 8 million directions and had some of the best advice throughout the evening. He truly captured the authenticity of our celebration, getting all the shots of our fun silly moments we want to remember forever. Zak was very prompted getting the photos back to us and providing a shareable view for our family. I highly recommend him! -

What a great team!
I booked Alex for our wedding, and I cannot speak more highly of his service and expertise. We were set to get married in May of 2021, but our venue fell through after we had booked Alex with Zak Zavada Photography and made a down payment. We decided to push our wedding to Thanksgiving, and do a small, intimate ceremony. We explained to Alex that if we were to lose our down payment due to this change, we understood. Instead of doing that, Alex went above and beyond to make our wedding day amazing. He traveled to our venue and was a complete professional all the way through. When faced with the difficulty of the pandemic, he rose to the challenge.
Additionally, as a person, he is incredible. He was patient and allowed several little ones to follow him around as he photographed our wedding, while capturing some great candids along the way! I cannot say enough great things about Alex. If you get the opportunity to book Alex or the Zak Zavada team, do it. You will love your photos and the experience. -

There really isn’t an intense enough word to describe Zak and the service he provides. Zak is incredible!!!! We had a very simple, private, play by ear wedding 9/28/2019...and he was so easy going, professional, helpful, and changed to accommodate us and our special day. He was incredible at paying attention to detail to make sure we looked our best. Gave great directions, very patient, and worked hand and hand with my husband and I to give us everything we wanted and then some. At the last minute we changed our mind and needed him to stay a little after agreed upon and he was extremely accommodating and sweet. My very small wedding felt larger then life thanks to Zak. Everyone, literally EVERYONE raved about him. We found Zak on Wedding Wire because we live in GA and were going to PA to get married and knew no one. He was great about communicating with us from the first e-mail requesting information to the very minute he said thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your day and left. In fact my husband who never does reviews....INSISTED on us writing Zak a review and has been over my shoulder the entire time. Wanting to make it absolutely clear that if you want an OUT OF THIS WORLD, more then you could imagine experience with your wedding photographer HIRE ZAK! If he’s not available and you have wiggle room on your date change it to accommodate him, you won’t be disappointed! -

Zak and Kristen do amazing work! They went above and beyond to provide us with beautiful wedding and engagement photos as well as extraordinary photobooks! Zak is kind, a pleasure to work with and always made us feel comfortable. He is truly a professional and has a knack for creating images that will take your breath away. Zak has an eye for natural beauty and captures those candid moments that cannot be reproduced. My husband and I worked with Alex Dubois of Zak Zavada Photography. We could not have been more pleased. He was professional, patient and totally worked with our vision for the day. As this was a 30th Anniversary Vow Renewal(a wedding in every way but name) our ideas for the pictures were a little different. We wanted some of the posed pictures but also wanted so many of the candid moments, we wouldn't get to observe. We walked from the hotel to the venue and he was right there asking questions about us while photographing at the same time. Our guests loved him! He was there and not there at the same time in the best possible way. I have attended weddings where the photographer would almost seem in the way. This was not a problem for us. Because he was so kind and personable, we relaxed and I believe got some totally made of awesome pics. To be totally fair and honest, we have not seen any yet(just happened 3 days ago) but I had to review our amazing experience. Definitely check out their website. -

I don’t even know where to start! Zak is not your average wedding photographer, he’s truly an artist. He sees the beauty beyond the obvious. He did our engagement as well as our wedding photos and I couldn’t be happier with them. He made sure we got all of the wedding party and family shots done quickly so we could get to partying! He also waited until the light was just perfect to take me, my new husband and our 7 week old baby out to the gardens of our venue. Zak is an absolute joy to work with personally and professionally. I wish we could get married all over again just to hang out with him:) I really cannot say enough to describe how much I love his photos and I feel so blessed that he was there to capture our special day. -

Beautiful photography
Our wedding was on June 22nd. We just received our photos. Let’s just say every single photo was amazing. Zak was so professional and down to earth. He captured not only the best parts of our wedding but memories we will get to see for the rest of our lives. Hands down the best photographer! Highly recommend his work. -

Our photos are stunning, we received digital copies in less than two weeks. He seriously made us look like models! His personality made us completely at ease on one of the most nerve-racking days of our life.

John Sent on 08/26/2018Zak is such a special talent whom we were blessed with capturing our August wedding. He belongs in a tier of his own for the lengths he went to ensure every aspect of our engagement, wedding planning, and wedding went flawlessly. When picking a wedding photographer, you obviously are looking for someone that is talented-- but also someone that is a guest at your wedding surrounded by close family and friends. Zak had me sold the first time we met with him when he glowed talking about how he fell for his long time girlfriend (now wife!) and how of all the work he could highlight-- he went with candid photos of his mother. I thought anyone that felt this way about the love of his life and family-- would be able to capture those same emotions during our wedding when it mattered. This was on display when he trekked down to Dilworth Park in Philadelphia to revisit the scene where I proposed for our engagement shoot and later for our wedding shots in Pittston/Tunkhannock/Dallas, PA. He got all of our photos back to us in remarkably under two weeks and each one is more beautiful than the last. They are timeless and each one feels like he paused time to freeze moments that we'll never forget. To echo other reviews, he invested himself in us for our special day with minimal equipment, became a part of my family, and left guests raving about the remarkable job he did long after everything settled. I highly recommend Zak to all couples looking for a wedding photographer and can't wait to put together an album of all of our captured moments.

Fiona Sent on 08/12/2018We cannot say enough great things about Zak! Not only is he an amazingly lovely person, but he is outstanding at what he does. He is professional, creative and totally immerses himself in the moment. We were originally planning to get married in PA and from the moment we started searching we knew we wanted Zak to photograph our wedding! Even when we moved the wedding to CT, there was no way we were searching for someone else; it had to be him!
We had such a fun engagement shoot with Zak and the pictures were so beautiful! He made us feel so relaxed and it really helped to get to know each other before the big day. We have a gorgeous book with the engagement pictures and we will cherish it forever :)
Zak is different from other photographers as he is able to capture beautiful candid moments. Anyone can take a camera and pose a picture, but Zak can see moments as they are happening and this is the stuff that makes beautiful , raw and emotional pictures. On the wedding day, Zak worked incredibly hard. He is calming, reassuring and maintains his focus on the couple 100%. He is the kind of guy that makes you feel like you are the only people in the room. This is a special and rare quality to find :) The guests at our wedding were commenting on how wonderful he was and everybody was honestly so impressed.
When we got our wedding pictures back, we were so unbelievably happy with all of them. They were every bit as amazing as we knew they would be. Zak captured amazing one off moments in time and this is down to his creative eye and genuine interest in what he is photographing. We had such a hard time choosing pictues for our book as they were all so amazing. Yet another wonderful thing about Zak though, is that he allows you to keep all of your wedding pictures so you can love them all forever!
We honestly couldn't have wished for someone more amazing and talented to trust with photographing our wedding day. Thank you Zak Zavada, you legend! -

Katie Sent on 07/28/2018Zak was amazing, literally from the minute he walked through the door and took a candid shot of me. He was so friendly and calm but directed the perfect shots. Zak made sure to get all group shots that we wanted and got so many more. The pictures came out absolutely beautiful and even the pictures that he "staged" came out so natural looking. I absolutely love the work he did.

He completely accompanied my wishes. He made us feel so comfortable. We had a great time and our pictures are amazing so far! I can’t wait to see what our wedding pics will look like!!!!!! -

Heather Sent on 12/07/2017Zak was absolutely amazing for our wedding! He not only photographed the standard family pictures but captured moments we will cherish forever! We had a destination wedding and my best friend surprised me. He was able to get the entire interaction from my initial face reaction (which was hysterical) to our hugging fest. He had the patience of a saint as our families were leaning over his shoulder and chiming in with their options on what picture to take next. He had wonderful ideas as to where to take our pictures -- they came out absolutely beautiful .. something out of a movie ( we had a winter wedding with snow) ! We seriously could not have asked for better photographs, it was everything we wanted and more! His artistic eye is something that you just do not get anymore, we will continue to use him time and time again!! If we could give him 10 stars we would. Flexible, Fun, Creative, Professional, Easy Going, Personable and Funny would all be things we used to describe our experiences with Zak.
