Amazing Wedding

All we wanted was a simple and intimate wedding. Johnny was attentive, responsive, and answered all questions we had. He used his experience to come up with an amazing and simple ceremony just the way we wanted it. My wedding was a success and I highly recommended.

Excellent Officiant

Johnny was great to work with! We met with him in person once to get to know each other and from there all other communication was done via email. Any time we had a question he was quick to respond. We wanted a basic, no-frills ceremony and that’s exactly what Johnny delivered. We were able to incorporate our own, personal vows which made the ceremony that much more special. We would recommend Johnny to anyone needing an officiant for their ceremony.

Really a Special Day!

Johnny was so sweet and encouraging. He worked hard to accommodate and blend our Jewish and Mexican Catholic traditions into one beautiful ceremony. He took the time to get to know us, reassure us, and truly make sure that our ceremony was of our own design. Our guests won't stop raving about how insightful his explanations of each unique aspect of our traditions were and how wonderful the ceremony was overall. We cannot imagine a better experience!

Johnny is just one of the nicest people we’ve ever met. We found him through the Knot and set up a meeting to see if he was the officiant that we were looking for. He was so kind and we were sold right away. The vows that he uses are beautiful and he kept communication open from the first meeting through our wedding day. He was at the venue early and made the ceremony personal to us even though we just chose his standard non-religious ceremony. We couldn’t be happier! Thank you Johnny!

Mr. Peden was extremely accommodating. I wrote our entire ceremony and he performed it exactly the way my husband and I wanted. He was on time for our wedding and the price of his service was reasonable compared to most other officiants I had researched. Overall, I highly recommend.

Johnny was prompt to return my call and easy to work with in the time leading up to the ceremony. I sent him a draft script and he followed it closely. Our ceremony flowed well, Johnny's voice carried to the back row at our outdoor ceremony & we were able to sign our license with ease. Highly recommend Johnny!

Johnny is the officiant for my wedding this past Saturday and he did a great job! My ceremony is non religious so he was able to keep the wedding ceremony short and sweet. He tailored his speech for the wedding considering that I have guests coming from all over the place.

Also he did a good job pronouncing my name since my name is in Chinese and most people tend to mispronounce. He confirmed with me multiple times making sure that my name is correctly pronounced.

I also found it very easy to communicate with Johnny. he is very responsive in answering both phone calls and emails, and very patient in explaining the ceremony process and tailor to any special request. Also he actively reached out to me right before the wedding to make sure all the questions are answered and all the details are finalized.

He also has a very reasonable charge compared to many other officiants that I got quotes from.

Overall I am very happy with my wedding ceremony!

Could not have picked anyone better than Johhny to officiate our wedding ceremony. I was so worried we wouldnt find anyone who was truly genuine and who my husband and I both loved..but all that changed when we first met with Johnny. He was always so polite, courteous and helpful...not to mention never seemed bothered with my many emails!! We were more than pleased with the ceremony and he is just a great man to work with and his sincerity truly shows...highly recommend.

Johnny was the best! My wife and I reached out to - and met with - a handful of other officiants before finding Johnny. After each conversation and in-person meeting, we knew there was just something in our gut that was preventing us from choosing each one. After the first five seconds on the phone with Johnny, we knew we had our match.

His vibe was perfect. Just a fun, likeable guy with an inviting southern accent.

We also liked that he had a shell of a ceremony ready to go if we needed it, but encouraged us to tell him exactly what we wanted. Some of the others we talked to weren't as comfortable with this.

Along those same lines, my wife and I were looking for a non-denominational ceremony. We're spiritual in our own way, just not super religious. (between our four parents, we have four different religions covered). Unlike some of the others we talked to before Johnny, he was perfectly comfortable with "whatever kind of ceremony we wanted."

We ended up writing out the short ceremony word for word. And while Johnny did a great job of following our plan, my only regret was not giving him more leeway. I say that because he's so charismatic when he improvises and we had him doing a lot of reading instead.

All in all - a great experience with Johnny and we would highly recommend him.

Incorrect Name During Ceremony

Johnny was always very sweet, transparent and professional during my interactions with him prior to the ceremony. I was ultimately disappointed in his performance during the actual ceremony on my wedding day. Johnny kept saying “Cody” instead of my husbands name “Cory” despite our efforts to attempt to correct him during the ceremony. He also rushed the announcement of the newlyweds and no one heard it as they were still clapping from our first kiss as husband and wife, leading for a mildly awkward exit when the clapping stopped.... Considering the amount we paid Johnny I honestly expected him to at least get our names correct or stick around for an apology for his mess up but he left quickly after the ceremony and I was not even able to get a professional photo taken with him. I still married the love of my life and had a wonderful night, but I would have preferred our ceremony to not have felt so rushed and for the names to have been correct.

We met with our officiant once and gave him a summary of what we expected in our ceremony. We also communicated with him in several occasions via email and phone to make sure we were on the same page.
We requested a small but meaningful ceremony, not too long (20 to 30 min), enough to cover a nice message for the guests, and for us to say our personal vows.
We provided him with a marriage reading we wanted to incorporate, and we gave him a personalized exchange of rings along with the vows we wanted to recite. We met half hour before the ceremony and told him that we both were going to recite the same vows I emailed him a few days earlier. So he took the print of the email and we went over the vows that we both were going to recite and wrote on the paper to make them simple for both to repeat.
Did not go as planned. He skipped the reading all together, instead went on to say how he had met us a few weeks early, and told them where we were from (our friends and family already knew that, thanks). After that, he asked me to recite our personal vows, then he skipped my husband's personal vows, and went straight to the standard legal vows, and for the exchange of rings he used his standard script, but not the one we wrote (which he had a copy of). And that was it. Some of our relatives were a bit puzzled with all the rush and the fact that only one of us gave all these personal promises to the other, but not the other way around... We were prepared for a half an hour ceremony, instead we got at the most 5 to 7 minutes of municipal court type of ceremony. It is a good thing that cocktails and appetizers followed right after so noone had chance to talk about it.

He was not the perfect fit for us. I communicated exactly my special needs, I had a complicated situation but they're was a solution and he did not follow through as discussed. Either he forgot or just didn't want to. We were behind on schedule and from my friends and family he made it clear he was not sympathetic or patient. My ceremony was not how I wanted it. Im not badgering the Rev. I'm simply giving my honest review. My advice is, find an officiant that will show you on paper the exact words that will be used. The verse he recited was short and far from beautiful. Look around, talk to 10 officiants. I wish I would have.

Very disappointed

Johnny Peden was hired to be the officiant of my son’s wedding which took place yesterday (02/04/2023). From the time Mr. Peden arrived at the wedding venue’s chapel, he gave an impression of arrogance and “I don’t care” attitude. The first thing he asked the wedding coordinator was “Where is my payment?” He then refused the coordinator’s request to wear a wireless microphone so he would be more audible during the video recording. He claimed that his voice is loud enough. The coordinator ended up calling the bride to persuade Mr. Peden to comply with the request; he refused.

The worst part is the wedding ceremony. Everyone was shocked that the ceremony lasted for only about 15 minutes. Mr. Peden failed all of us (the bride and groom, their respective parents, and families who traveled from other states and countries, and the guests). He literally didn’t do anything. He also forgot to let the couple light the unity candle. He didn’t say any prayers, didn’t give an inspirational message or even bless the couple. He immediately asked for the rings. The best man who had the rings was even stunned as everyone just got seated. After the ring exchange, Mr. Peden pronounced the couple as married, then that was it. The ceremony was over! He also didn’t let the couple sign the marriage license. He just handed the document to the coordinator and left without saying goodbye to the couple.

My son and his bride were sad and disappointed that the ceremony turned out to be nothing to remember. We share the couple's sentiments. The ceremony was an embarrassment. All the guests (more than 150) commented that it was the shortest wedding they had attended. I agree!

Mr. Peden was paid $250 in cash (the only payment method he would accept) for a service that’s not worth the price. Any person could have done what he did (give instruction to exchange rings, and pronounce the couple as husband and wife). Overall, if you want a beautiful and meaningful wedding ceremony, don’t hire Johnny Peden to be your officiant. You would be better off hiring a friend or relative who can do a much better job as your officiant.

The worst officiant ever!

BEWARE! The worst officiant ever ruined my ceremony and made me cry after. Johnny Peden forgot every single detail that was discussed with him. He forgot that we wrote our vows, and skipped that whole part. I had to tap him and bring him back to order. He forgot that he was supposed to prepare a wedding message, he had nothing to say. He talked about his Broken foot and tripping over a cat on stage. He called our wedding guests “you people” Very disrespectful! All he wanted to know was who had his money. If he wasn’t paid it cash, we would have found a way to cancel his check because he did a terrible job. Too bad he already too his cash and ran. Johnny Peden does not deserve to be on this platform. I don’t want to sound like an ageist but he is an older gentle and it seems his memory is failing him. He should just stop officiating and not destroy peoples sacred moments. The Worst! DO NOT BOOK!

This man came to my only daughter’s wedding on the beach, demanded money up front, then walked off the beach after going here and there to make himself in the photos. I’m a novice photographer and wanted to photograph my only child’s wedding. I was running all around trying to get pics, and he was leading them away from me! Before I could get everyone together, he was leaving! Literally, I looked up and he was leaving the beach!! I paid this man, yet her never asked me if I needed anything! Do not waste your time and money with this man. He couldn’t care less!
