Marshall Yancey was amazing! Great DJ.! Completely professional. Met our budget. He went over our song choices throughly and was super helpful. He introduced people elegantly. And we danced all night! . People came from Florida to California and complemented me on what a great DJ he was. -

The DJ you want at your wedding!
Marshall Yancey is definitely the best in the entertainment business— he is the DJ you want at your wedding! It was an easy Y.E.S. for my husband and me.
Marshall Yancey sat down with us twice to plan out every detail of our reception. He’s also an incredibly nice human being and puts his heart into what he does. Moreover, his pricing is very fair and he was even totally flexible with adding on another hour of DJ services the day of our wedding. Amazing! Our guests LOVED the songs and didn’t want to leave the dance floor! 10/10 for Marshall Yancey. Thanks for everything! -

Kept everyone on the dance floor!
Marshall did a great job. He’s very responsive and attentive to detail to ensure things go just the way you want. I told him I wanted to keep everyone dancing all night and he delivered. Would absolutely recommend him for your weddings or events! -

Great DJ, Great Price
Marshall Yancey did a wonderful job at our wedding. We looked at several different vendors before booking him and we are so glad we went with him. He drove from Louisville to Lexington to meet with us, gave an extensive list of music options and was more affordable than several other options and he did a perfect job! Our wedding was a blast with lots of dancing and he kept the guests moving until the very last second of the night. I would highly recommend his services! -

Marshall Yancey did an amazing job as the DJ for our wedding and was all around a great guy to work with. He had a very in depth consult with us before the wedding and was very thorough. He made sure to make everything we wanted happen, as well as gave us some really great recommendations. We were planning our wedding from out of town, which was difficult, but he was very accommodating and was able to work with us from a distance. He made the atmosphere at our wedding very fun and played great music that kept our guests dancing. We would absolutely recommend Marshall Yancey! -

Very professional and has a ton of experience. He was very easy to work with. He is very knowledgeable and kept the party going. Great value for the cost, he is worth so much more than he charges. I would highly recommend him to anyone getting married in Louisville. -

Yancey was the perfect DJ. We were able to relax knowing that he had everything handled, from set up to the flow of the event. He played awesome music that kept everyone out on the dance floor. We have some amazing pictures of our guests dancing, and I believe that's because we had such a great DJ. Book Yancey, you won't regret it! -

Amazing DJ. he has been doing this for a very long time and it shows. Just pick out specific songs for the father/daughter, mother/son, first dance etc and then let him do the rest, you will not be disappointed!!!! He kept my party going! -

DJ Yancey was professional in every way. He got a feel for our music taste and curated 3 great playlists for the cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. He is also a pleasure to work with. Very friendly and very easy going. His process makes a stressful time in couples' lives as easy as it can be. -

THIS IS THE DJ you want for your wedding!!!!! His quality of service and professionalism is top notch. He is VERY thorough and took great pride in my wants and needs for our special day. He has the perfect DJ voice to please the crowd and reads them very well. I had an afternoon wedding and wasn't expecting much dancing but Yancey got the party going!! Marshall is extremely professional and very accommodating. He listened to our needs and concerns and everything went well on the day. We had to make a last-minute change with the schedule and venue layout and Marshall took care of everything without us even knowing. Our guests danced all night and we are still getting complements on how much fun the reception was. Reserve Marshall for your event DJ and relax knowing everyone will have a blast and everything will be taken care of. -

We were suggested to use Marshall Yancey after a friend of ours used him in their wedding. I have nothing but good things to say about Mr. Yancey!
#1: EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL: My husband's number one priority for a DJ was they needed to be classy, not trashy. We have all been to weddings where the DJ single-handedly kills the vibe. Yancey has been providing Disc Jockey services since 1978, he knows every mistake to avoid!
- Upon consultation, Yancey provides his clients with a very descriptive survey which allowed us to choose his attire (casual, suit and tie, tuxedo, etc.), his personality (quiet (just play music), normal (make necessary announcements), moderate (some audience interaction), outgoing (tastefully involved)), and the overall environment we were going for.
-SIDE NOTE: Due to his professionalism, Yancey refuses to play explicit music that poorly represents his company (he does provided edited options). Kudos to him! This was obviously not a problem for us, but if it is a problem for you, you may want to seek other services.
#2: Options/Packages- Yancey has a variety of options, but everything is adjustable based upon what YOU want. It's YOUR day and he makes sure he is compliant with that. However, he still offers his professional opinion on overall schedule for the day! This is extremely helpful since for most of us, this is our only wedding as bride/groom and he's been doing this for years. These options also included very specific lists of songs TO NEVER PLAY (for example, we DID NOT want the Chicken Dance), songs that were "must play", and songs that we would like to be played if time allows.
#3: Affordability- To be fair, we paid more to Yancey than I originally wanted, but it was important to my husband (and worth every penny). We paid $1,195 for Yancey's services which included the ceremony and reception. Well worth it! Every guest, old and young, enjoyed the music and atmosphere that Marshall Yancey created. -

We knew we wanted Mr. Yancey to DJ at our wedding after seeing the energy he brought to a friend's wedding a year earlier. We were not disappointed. Mr. Yancey helped us with many aspects of the wedding during the month leading up to the big day and on the big day. He made sure all of the events transitioned smoothly from one to another, and he kept our guests up and moving. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and I hope I find myself in need of a DJ for another event soon. -

Marshall Yancey was by far the best DJ I could have hoped for. From the beginning he made the process easy by helping us choose songs when we were stuck and took time to play through multiple options with the upmost patiences. He followed up closer to the event for the final meeting and then executed the event flawlessly. He has the best MC skills I've get seen if you are looking for a classy event that still wants to have fun and his music selection and flow from one point of the evening to the next really is an art. We had endless compliments all night long and in the following week of people saying that our DJ was AMAZING, and they were right.
If you want quality and you don't want to have to worry about the flow of the evening and you want to enjoy the best night of your life to the fullest, hire Marshell Yancey.
I don't write this thriving review lightly, I largely credit him to making our wedding night perfect. -

Marshall Yancey is an EXCELLENT DJ. My guests never left the dance floor. Marshall kept them dancing all night long. You won't be disappointed if you choose Yancey Entertainment for your wedding. Marshall is great to work with and he will help you through the process of choosing your wedding music. Compared to the other DJ companies, Yancey Entertainment was affordable, plus you get a DJ that is well respected and has 38 years in the business!!! -

12 years ago I hired Marshal to do both my daughter and my son's weddings. And I have hired him for three corporate events. (and I own Doo Wop Shop so I could have done all three for free) Total Pro Pro Pro. Smooth voice . Gentleman's Gentleman . Hey ! How many weddings are you going to put on in a lifetime. Go with a pro!!!! -

Marshall Yancey has his job down to a science. He got to know the ins and outs of my (now) husband and I, our families, and our wedding guests to ensure he played the best music to fit our style and keep everyone dancing. Our dance floor was packed all night long and we received so many compliments on how wonderful our DJ was and how smoothly everything flowed. After experiencing Yancey Entertainment at another wedding, my brother used them for his wedding, and after experiencing their services myself, there wasn't a doubt in my mind that I wanted Yancey Entertainment to provide DJ services at my own. He provided music for our cocktail hour and reception, and not once did I have to worry about him pulling it off without a hitch (and I was a very anxious bride). He's not just a DJ, he's an MC and an entertainer, and we would recommend Marshall Yancey to any and everyone for their weddings/events. -

We got married on June 26, 2015 and we were SO pleased with Marshall Yancey as our DJ in the wedding. He is BEST OF THE BEST! He is so easy to work with from Day 1 and he was the last thing for us to worry about in our wedding. I’m not exaggerating; he is so perfect that we did not have to direct him to do anything on the wedding day. He just did it, perfectly!
He kindly met us on site and checked out the location months ahead of time and left us a binder of popular song selections to work with, FOR EVERY PART of the wedding ceremony you can think of (and he helped us to set our wedding timeline!) I requested a special Chinese song to dance with my mom. It’s not even on YouTube and Marshall somehow found it!!! He was the first vendor who contacted us and reminded us of the day, and we had a conference call for 2 hours (on Fathers’ Day weekend!) to finalize the music details!
We planned to have an outdoor ceremony but then it rained and stormed so we had to move everything indoor. Marshall had it set up both ways professionally and directed the whole wedding smoothly. The whole city of Frankfort, KY blacked out for a few minutes RIGHT BEFORE I walked down the aisle and Marshall picked up what we’d left off and recovered everything as soon as the electricity went back on! He played so many great songs during the reception that our guests were amazed by what a fun-filled wedding we had!
Marshall Yancey is a true friend, and the best DJ you can ever ask for on your special days. He offers the DJ service you can rely on; he is experienced, professional, patient, well-equipped, thorough, punctual … Our family and friends can’t thank him enough for being a big part of our wedding day, and he is and will be our only DJ for any of our events to come!

Marshall Yancey is such a professional. He is committed to doing the best job possible and he does not disappoint. He was the first thing booked after our reception site and date were set. The dance floor was never empty at the wedding. Everyone has been telling us how fantastic the music was and what a great time was had. He also had up-lights that really added to the beauty of the room once it was dark outside. We really enjoyed working with him. Please at least consider scheduling a meeting with him to hear was he has to offer. -

Simply the best! Marshall is professional, kind, and takes the time to get to know the couple so he can play music that you love and is appropriate for your audience. Not to mention, his "Morgan Freeman" ish deep voice makes it sound like God is speaking on the speakers - very cool! Would do business again! -

Marshall Yancey met with us prior to signing a contract with him. He took a lot of time to tell us how he could make our day so special -- and he did! He takes a lot of time to get to know his couples and understand what they are looking for, their music preferences, and the type of crowd that will be at the event. Marshall kept our guests dancing all night long. He was able to play the right song at the perfect time, our guests loved him, and he also keeps the talking to a minimum. If given the opportunity we would definitely use him again. -

Marshall Yancey did an excellent job DJing our wedding. He acted as the MC and made sure things went smoothly. Marshall is willing to work with you to make sure he understands exactly how you want it. He also was able to set all the mic equipment up for our pastor and speakers, and interfaced well with the videographer to feed into his equipment. The night was flawless and I couldn't have asked for more. Many of our guests loved him and complemented me on how well he was able to keep the party going. Definitely check him out if you are looking for a DJ. -

Marshall was our wedding DJ and he was excellent. He was very professional and knew how to read the crowd. I will say that if you want him to play your exact playlist this is not the DJ for you, but if you want a professional who knows how to get the party started and keep it started then he is exactly the DJ for you. DJ Marshall Yancey has this uncanny ability to be able to read a crowd and, even with a diverse group, get everyone on the dance floor. This was how it was for our wedding. Additionally Marshall was able to accommodate our needs at the wedding, microphones, hosting, playing songs that we liked etc. He made our wedding preparation easy despite our distance. He's very communicative and assures professional service. We definitely had a great time. Will definitely use Yancey Entertainment Service for future music and partying needs. -

Marshall was wonderful. I have used his DJs before for school functions, and have always had great service, but for our wedding we requested Marshall himself. He sent us a form to fill out with our wedding party names and some of our music likes/dislikes, and we met with him before the wedding to go over everything in person. We created a list of songs we wanted him to play from, and he made some suggestions and edits to it, but we were able to work with him very easily, and I trusted his opinion about what songs were good for our crowd and which weren't. He provided a lavalier microphone for our officiant and speakers for our ceremony (on the roof of Glassworks -- windy!), and did the sound system for the reception, which was inside. He kept our crowd dancing all night long! -

I am typically not a fan of DJs, but my fiance really wanted one. I reluctantly went to meet Marshall, thinking I had already made up my mind about not having a DJ. He was such a gentleman and I knew he would not be obnoxious or overbearing. He has many years of experience, which he will proudly tell you about, and it shows. He was non-obtrusive and only really spoke when necessary. He is friendly and likeable and we got many compliments.
My only complaint was the microphone was not turned on and ready during the ceremony. His assistant had to intervene to get the sound working for the ceremony.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Marshall if you like to keep things classy! He is very flexible and helpful! :) -
