Wonderful venue
The Wisconsin Historical Society was the perfect venue for our wonderful day. Craig and his team took all of the stress out of the planning and execution of our wedding and reception. Dreamy October Wedding at WHS
Many people do not know that you can rent out Wisconsin Historical Society’s terrace, marble clad lobby, or grandiose library for weddings or other events, much less that they have an event program. I was lucky to have stumbled upon some Madison wedding Reddit threads that mentioned this was an option and we decided to check it out. From our initial visit a year in advance through our actual wedding day, we were absolutely blown away by the staff we worked with and the historical beauty of the venue. Craig, the event program manager, was just amazing to work with, all over the details, helped us work through many logistical questions over the months and days leading up, and came in clutch on the days before and on the day of our wedding. He also has a wonderful sense of humor, which you sometimes need when planning a wedding! 😆 We had a somewhat complicated and non-traditional catering setup and he and his staff made it all work. WHS is NOT a traditional full-service wedding venue with catering, bartender, DJ, etc., but that is one of the things we liked about it. It gave us autonomy to choose vendors we really wanted for our day. We will forever be remembering our wedding day with starry eyes and a lot of love in our hearts. Many people do not know that you can rent out Wisconsin Historical Society’s terrace, marble clad lobby, or grandiose library for weddings or other events, much less that they have an event program. Beautiful and Exceptionally well run Venue!
We LOVED our experience at the Wisconsin Historical Society! We had to re-plan our wedding because of COVID and were so thankful that we landed on the WHS. Craig was incredible to work with. I had a million questions - he was kind, patient, and helped us focus on the most important elements of the wedding during planning. He touched base with our other vendors before hand to walk through details and logistics so the day would run smoothly. On the day of, Craig and his staff expertly orchestrated the day from start to finish, helped our guests feel welcome, and took care of little details that made the day so special. The Venue itself is gorgeous and timeless with the marble and the columns, its also so close to the union and the iconic state street pictures spaces. My pictures and video are so beautiful. Micro - wedding at WHS
We had the most wonderful experience with this venue for our micro wedding. Craig, the site coordinator for events, went above and beyond at every step of the process and made everything run smoothly and seamlessly, even for a complicated multi-cultural ceremony. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, both indoors and out - there are countless places for great photos and Craig has a good eye for this as well. I couldn’t recommend this venue any more strongly. Thanks so much to everyone involved who helped us make our day so special! We had the most wonderful experience with this venue for our micro wedding. Beautiful venue in downtown Madison!
The Wisconsin Historical Society was an absolutely wonderful place to have our wedding! The event manager, Craig Jacobsen, was relentlessly positive, helpful, and flexible as we planned, and re-planned, and re-re-planned our wedding in 2020. We ended up having a much smaller gathering than we originally anticipated, but it worked perfectly with space that we used at the venue. We had our ceremony and reception on the terrace facing Library Mall - it was a perfect day in early fall and we were glad to be outdoors. The building looks incredible in all of the photos and videos. The venue itself is a short walk / drive from any of the hotels downtown, making it very convenient for our family members that were still able to attend. If you are looking for a venue that really shows off some of the best parts of downtown Madison, look no further than the Historical Society! The Wisconsin Historical Society was an absolutely wonderful place to have our wedding! Lovely ceremony at the WI Historical Society
We highly recommend the Wisconsin Historical Society as a venue for your wedding. We got married in the reading room and everyone who attended were stunned by the beauty of the architecture. It is truly a unique site to hold a ceremony. Also Craig and his staff were a pleasure to work with and helped the day run smoothly. They were easy to communicate with, fielded all of our questions and were personally involved in handling many of the details of the day. We will never for the day, thanks largely to the place and the people involved. We highly recommend the Wisconsin Historical Society as a venue for your wedding.
