Tara McCarthy at Winston made the flowers simple and smooth for our wedding. She understood our vision and broke down the specific selections very easily. We could tell this was like clockwork for she and her team. In the few weeks just before our wedding, we changed our vision a bit — they seamlessly adapted without question and exceeded every expectation! -

Wedding planning is a whirlwind. Getting boutonnieres for myself and my groomsmen was back of mind. But I still wanted them to have the right flair. After undertaking little research, I found Winston Flowers and they were just what I needed.
Tara was super responsive and I barely had to do anything to place my order. They offer 3 different types of flower for the boutonniere, and I chose an orchid because it looked great in the brochure photo. Turns out it was even prettier when I picked them up from the Newbury Street shop on the wedding day. And bigger than I expected! They were a great compliment to our suits. Winston does a solid job with the arrangement.
I'm very pleased with their service. Ordering and pickup couldn't have been smoother, and the price was reasonable IMO. Tara's note of congratulations to me was sweet as well. They take their work seriously there. -

The talented team at Winston Flowers did a lovely job for our classic winter wedding at the Omni Parker House! I described our basic goals and vision for the event, but left it up to them to create what they thought would look best in that historic space and they did a fantastic job! A special thanks to Olivia for fielding my general requests and filling in the gaps so beautifully! From the beautiful cascading bouquet of ivory and white roses and greenery, to the stunning ceremony florals and pillars, to the subtle variations in the reception centerpieces, we really adored their choices in the floral arrangements and felt so lucky to be surrounded by that beauty on our milestone day.

Julio and Lydia were an absolute dream team. They listened to my ideas about the look I wanted and produced something better than I could have imagined. From the bouquets, boutonnières, table settings, ceremony flowers, and even ceiling installations - they did an amazing job. I can’t recommend enough! -

Laura Sent on 06/20/2015I dealt with Winston (Kate Cook specifically) and she/they were amazing. I had answers within minutes sometimes of my emails, and everything went smoothly. The flowers were at the venue before I was, and even prettier then I'd imagined. Also, the hotel screwed up my credit card and my payment to Winston was denied. They were never rude about it, were very patience, and gave me the time needed to straighten everything out. With Winston's size and the nature of the business they easily could have billed me, demanded payment, or added fees. They did none of that. Even after the wedding's over I am singing their praises. -

I thought and design and even drawn pictures of them during preparation but when I saw the real thing from Winston Flowers - it blew me away! The stargazers were beyond belief; the perfection layout and freshness and scent were mind blowing. I could have been happier. My entire family thanks you. I will definitely recommend you to anybody in sight! -

The flowers came out beautiful, just the way I wanted them to look! She really took the time to understand what I wanted and was happy to change things when I requested modifications.

Amanda Sent on 06/29/2012Where should I begin? Winston Flowers saved my wedding. After having a nightmare experience with another florist (see my other reviews for details), we were left with no one to do our flowers just three months before our pseudo-destination wedding in Boston (I'm originally from Boston but we live in NY). Winston stepped up, listened to everything I had to say about our previous experience and about my wedding dreams, demonstrated that they cared and understood what we wanted, and ultimately created a magical setting for our wedding. Some of our guests STILL comment to me that when they walked into our reception, they gasped at how incredible everything looked. I simply could not have been happier with our flowers and our team at Winston. They were completely professional, talented and just plain nice throughout the whole process. Highly, highly recommended! -

Gorgeous Flower Arrangements
Winston Flowers did my first wedding bouquet for an intimate ceremony and then did all of my floral arrangements for my larger wedding. Tara at Winston Flowers was super responsive and empathetic. She took the time to understand and work with my budget, color scheme and flower preference. The wedding party bouquets were absolutely gorgeous, the pergola was beautiful and the bud vases were also really pretty. I couldn't have been happier! -

Angela Sent on 10/11/2011Winston flowers was a breeze to work with! Meghan was an extremely professional manager. She responded promptly and professionally to all my emails and phone calls, and was understanding and reassuring during our meeting. I was originally concerned about the cost because I knew from prior experience that they can be pricey, but never fear! She understood my budget and my ideas for the "big picture" of the wedding, and we came up with flower ideas and sizes that fit my requests.
Susan, my floral designer, was great. She perfectly emulated what we talked about during our phone consultation, and personally delivered the flowers to my room the morning of the wedding and went over them with me. My bouquet was exactly as I wanted, and she even included an extra boutonniere in case something happened to one of the men's. The center-pieces, which I had given her flexibility with, were bright and lovely and perfect for the tables.
Our credit card was charged the correct amount in a timely manner after the wedding. I was very confident with Winston and am extremely pleased. -

Gorgeous Flowers
The flower arrangements from Winston Flowers are some of the most gorgeous in Boston. They use the most beautiful blooms and create modern arrangements that look timeless but also edgy which is exactly what I was going for. The wedding will look inevitably gorgeous with Winston Flowers. -

Jessica Sent on 08/18/2009What a let-down. I walk by a Winston storefront everyday on my way home from work and often I just stop in to look at how amazing their floral designs are. Incredible! I set up a meeting with a designer from Winston and was definitely treated like royalty. Come to find out it is all lip service to get you in the door. The designer I spoke with was really kind, motivated, creative, and I clicked with him right off the bat. I gave him the list of things I wanted and pictures of things I liked, and asked "do you really honestly think I can do all this for my budget" -- my budget was pretty low -- and he said absolutely.
I got my quote 2 weeks later for more than double what my budget was. They were nice enough to provide me with a second quote that elminated some arrangements they felt could be optional to keep my costs down, but it only would have saved me a couple hundred and was still way over my budget. At this point, they wouldn't have me speak directly to the designer anymore, I was to speak with a salesperson. A salesperson who only responds after a coulpe days and come prodding. And at that, she only gets the info I need after some more prodding and a week and a half. I kept shrinking down things, eliminating all decorative items. Eventually I decided to go through a grocery store for all of my bouquets, and only use Winston for the cake decor and centerpieces. I went through about 4 or 5 proposals before I could get to a point where I would sign a contract and pay the 50% deposit. Each proposal took at least 2 weeks to receive, and it was only changing quantities of things, not design, so I should have been able to get a quick turn around. Even my other vendors who depended on Winston to answer some questions had a hard time getting a response.
I don't hear from Winston for months after the deposit is made. They only email to tell me the balance is due on the date it is due, and I need to send them the final table count. I send them a detailed list of the tables and sizes. In two days they send an updated proposal for the wrong number of tables. It takes another two days to fix their mistake. They also decide to charge me an extra $25 for the two tables that are slightly larger than the rest, but don't charge less for my sweetheart table.
Come the day of the wedding, the flowers are not the right color, nor do I like the design. They had never sent me a list of flowers they were using, or a mock up. And the two more expensive centerpieces? They are the exact same size as everything else, but cost $25 more.
Total rip-off and they have made the banned vendor list for my husband and I. Horribly let-down and disappointed. I think my guests still liked the flowers and I admit, they were very pretty, but totally not what I asked for and Winston was so hard to deal with.
To compare, I got my bouquets and everything through Stop and Shop in Amesbury (ask for Maria) and not only did I have a quote within my first meeting, I changed things right up until the day before the wedding! Maria even called to let me know that because of the amount of rain we had during the summer, we couldn't get all of the flowers I asked for, but she double checked that her replacement flowers were acceptable. I cried when I walked in and saw the flowers--they were so incredible. She even added vintage looking rhinestone picks which looked amazing! My bouquet is still alive -- two weeks after my wedding. That is how fresh these flowers are! And she took $5 each bouquet because they weren't the flowers I originally asked for. Now THAT is a dream florist. -

When the flowers that were destined for my wedding came down with a mold in the florist's freezer the night before my wedding, instead of substituting another flower in the wedding color and theme, they simply threw in some awful bright chartreuse zinnias that didn't match my purple, magenta and brown theme. Breathtaking. Not in a good way. And as if that weren't bad enough, they managed to send me lavender plants that looked more dead than alive. But the topping on it all was that they forgot to include on my bouquet a set of photographs that I had made into framed silver charms--4 charms, with photos of each of my deceased grandparents. I had Fed Exed the charms to them two weeks ahead of my wedding date, and confirmed their receipt with two different people. Those charms never showed up that day, and it took a lot of strength to hold back the tears when I realized that my grandparents wouldn't be walking down the aisle with me that day. My grandparents were in my heart, of course, but the florist was destined for another place, as far as I was concerned.
The only good thing I have to say is that the florist did their best to make good (a little too late after the fact, however), by sending me a large bouquet of sunflowers the following week, and refunding a few hundred dollars for the sub-par flowers. All in all, I don't recommend them. Not when there are so many other great florists out there who might be able to give better one-on-one attention the day of your event.
