Beautiful Venue and Amazing Team
We held our wedding, rehearsal dinner and welcome party all on-site at Wild Dunes. It was the most magical weekend and our guests loved that everything was within walking distance and easily accessible. We cannot recommend working with their team, especially Bailey, who made our wedding feel stress and hassle-free. She was extremely responsive and flexible! We also had a lot of out-of-town guests who flew in, and the location was close enough to get to that we didn't have to furnish transportation from the airport. We originally booked the North Croquet Lawn for our ceremony and reception, but ended up making a last minute call morning of move it to the Indigo rooftop since the forecast was looking iffy on rain (and it ended up thunder storming that evening!) This wasn't an issue at all, and by the way it all turned out, you would have thought we planned to have it there the whole time. It was absolutely beautiful and their staff was extremely helpful and proficient. They made sure we got hors d'oeuvres, cake and drinks throughout the night while we were busy mingling. If you're looking for a full wedding weekend on the beach vibe, this is THE place to be. -

Perfect Venue for Perfect Couples
We recently had our destination wedding at Wild Dunes Resort, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect.
Bailey, the Resort Event Planning Manager, was our main point of contact and answered all of our questions with patience and professionalism. She went above and beyond to ensure that everything was taken care of and that our special day went smoothly. Corina also helped us with the initial booking process, and she was incredibly responsive and answered all of our questions in a timely manner.
We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, and our experience there was also fantastic. Carol at the front desk was incredibly personable and caring. She went out of her way to help us with anything we needed and truly made us feel at home. The valet guys at The Boardwalk Inn, Richard and Robbie, were also great. They were always prompt, helpful, and extremely fun.
The wedding itself was held on the resort's beautiful North Croquet Lawn, and it was simply stunning. The staff at Wild Dunes Resort worked seamlessly with our wedding coordinator to ensure that everything was just as we had imagined it. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and all of our guests had a wonderful time.
Overall, we would highly recommend Wild Dunes Resort to anyone looking for a beautiful and stress-free wedding experience. From the helpful staff to the beautiful location, everything was top-notch. We are so grateful to Bailey, Corina, Carol, Richard, Robbie, and the entire staff for making our wedding day absolutely perfect. Thank you! -

Unforgettable Destination Wedding
Charleston has been our annual family getaway from Upstate New York for the last 15 years. We almost never skipped a year to see this beautiful city. After looking at several Charleston/Folly Beach/West Ashley venues, our decision landed on Wild Dunes. The practicality, amenities, and location were perfect for what we envisioned our guests to enjoy. Being about 30 min from the airport was perfect. Guests will pass by the city on the way to the resort and could take an Uber to stop and explore. Once they were at Wild Dunes, they had no intentions of leaving. The guests were thrilled to have restaurants, cafes, the spa, the pool and the beach at their fingertips. This was a vacation for them after all and I wanted them to feel that way. After our wedding, I was relieved to know that my guests just had to walk up to their rooms for the night. My family and I could not thank Samantha enough for our amazing wedding experience. She was a professional event manager/coordinator through and through. She has a bubbly personality that puts everyone at ease. Samantha went above and beyond to make every little detail and small hiccup seamless with the weekend. From our tasting early on in the process, to our farewell from the resort, she left us so thankful to have our investment in her hands. We cannot wait to visit for our anniversary and watch all future weddings come to life at Wild Dunes! -

All around incredible venue
We went under contract with Wild Dunes for the Sweetgrass Inn Indigo Room & Rooftop before the venue was even built. The venue turned out beautifully (both ballroom and terrace), and looked just like the mock up photos. Unfortunately after some trial and error, Wild Dunes realized the capacity of the ballroom was a bit less than advertised. Wild Dunes, and specifically Samantha Ellyn (who was not working at Wild Dunes when we initially went under contract), went above and beyond to come up with options and solutions. Samantha is extremely detailed and organized and helped us every step of the way, including on the wedding day. She made she we were happy with every little detail, from linen colors to food to table placement. She also stepped up significantly on the wedding day when our wedding planner dropped the ball. Wild Dunes and Samantha have our highest recommendation. The food was excellent, the service was top notch, and the venue is spectacular (especially the views)! -

Absolutely Perfect!
We had our ceremony and reception on the rooftop of the Sweetgrass in at Wild Dunes and it was absolutely perfect. The venue is breathtaking with panoramic ocean views. You have access to both the terrace area as well as the ballroom. We did a morning ceremony with brunch following. The food was fantastic and our friends and family are still taking about the chicken and sweet potato hash.
The best part was working with Samantha Ellyn as our catering coordinator. She thought of every detail and executed perfectly. We had horrible weather the morning of our wedding and she made every effort to make sure we could have the ceremony outside under the covered pergola. I believe she even put in a good word with Mother Nature to make the sun come out 15 minutes before I walked down the aisle.
I can't say enough wonderful things about this location or Samantha. They made our wedding day magical and perfect in every way. -

Incredible experience and beautiful venue!
We got married at the Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes- it's truly the perfect space for everything from ceremony to reception. The view was incredible, and it's so beautiful you can get away with minimal decor. Samantha was incredible to work with through planning our wedding and welcome party. The weekend of, she went out of her way to check in on everything in person and make herself available for anything we needed. Both events were so well coordinated thanks to Samantha and our planner- they were such a great team and communicated with each other so I got to be stress-free the weekend of the wedding. Samantha is such a sweetheart, and the little personal touches really made us feel at home at Wild Dunes. She left sweet notes and gifts for our parents for us when we arrived. Everyone of our friends and family wants to come back here as soon as possible! -

From the mom of the bride
Our daughter always wanted a beach wedding, and we could not have picked a better location. Wild Dunes Resort exceeded every expectation we had. The beach front wedding and North lawn reception was just spectacular. The pre-approved vendor list made selecting contracted services (DJ, wedding cake, decor, photo/video) very easy, and we were surprised all but one vendor we had already wanted to work with was on the list. The one vendor that was not on the list was easily accepted (string duo). Mother Nature truly came through for a November wedding and allowed us to keep everything outdoors, but I have no doubt the back-up location would have been beautiful, as well. Samantha Ivain was remarkable. She met every challenge we put before her (with a smile), and truly went above and beyond to make sure our daughter's wedding was beautiful, fun, full of delicious food, and allowed my husband and I to just show up and enjoy the moment. We loved everything and had the best weekend. -

An Incredible Wedding at Wild Dunes Resort
WOW! Having our wedding at Wild Dunes Resort was the best decision ever! It was truly a wonderful experience working with Samantha and the Wild Dunes Resort team. They have great packages for every type of wedding and make wedding planning as easy as possible. Samantha was responsive and made sure everything that we wanted was executed seamlessly. Our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful every element of our wedding (views, table decor, flowers). I couldn't have asked for a better day and wedding! -

Wedding Venue-Amazing Space and Staff
Samantha and Corina were fabulous to work with! Our Costa Rica wedding was cancelled due to COVID and when it came time to select another wedding venue, we thank our lucky stars we found Wild Dunes Resort. They're planning, preparation, and attention to detail made our special day picture-perfect. The North Lawn is a stunning space overlooking the beach and lined with gorgeous palms and oak trees. The staff did an outstanding job from start to finish on our wedding day. I cannot possibly contain enough words to completely express our appreciation for a perfect wedding day! -

You get what you pay for!
Wild dunes resort delivered on every aspect 100%. Planning a destination wedding, our nuptials turned into a weekend event. Gather of family from Haiti to Canada to New York to Florida, NC & SC, it was truly a magical weekend. Wild dunes catered to every whim. The food and drinks from cocktail hour to reception dinner were an absolute hit. My father in law is still asking about the green beer. The personnel even noticed that my uncle was utilizing crutches for an injury and ran the shuttle all night for our wedding guests. Great attention! Thank you -

Intimate Wedding Perfection
Wild Dunes Resort and Samantha Martin were beyond expectations! I am so happy that I chose to have my wedding there as it was the best decision I made. From the beginning, Samantha was able to answer all of my questions and really made me feel like she wanted to help.
I went through multiple locations in different states and spoke with various individuals but through the moment Samantha and I got in contact I just felt a genuine want to help people find their wedding location.
The wedding was perfect, the beach was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. Samantha was there on my wedding day to ensure everything went smoothly and Nico was equally as wonderful on the wedding day assisting with making sure everyone was happy at the reception.
I can not thank Wild Dunes Resort enough for making my intimate wedding a dream come true. -

Honestly can’t say enough great things about this wedding venue. From the hospitality to the wedding ceremony site and reception. The rentals we had for our bachelor and bridal parties were amazing and slept us all well and comfortable. To the managers and catering team making sure my fiancé and I had the best wedding possible. They are totally awesome and worth the money!!! -

Incredible in every way!
If only there were words for this amazing team and venue! Let me just say, if you choose to get married here know you will be in THE BEST hands!
From the get go, Amber and Samantha were PHENOMENAL to work with, and were extremely responsive to emails and were so so helpful and patient with answering our many questions! And let me just say that we certainly had some hurdles they helped us over! My husband was VERY particular on certain details, and our wedding was also postponed due to Hurricane Florence. Amber bent over backwards to make our new date work for us, and accommodate last minute special needs. We truly made a friend in Amber, and we don't know how we would have gotten through the stress of the hurricane reschedule with out her!
We were also planning from out of town, and the WD team made things so easy! It was wonderful not to have to figure out external catering and bar - and we had great options from their menus to choose from! Our guests RAVED about the food, saying they had never had such great fish, barbecue and shrimp boil! I HIGHLY recommend the grouper serving station! Our guests were so impressed!
Our welcome party was on the beach, ceremony on the north lawn, and reception at Grand Pavilion poolside north. Our friends and family continue to tell us how beautiful the whole property was, and how they loved the scenery! It was also so nice that they could relax and have a bit of a vacation while joining us for our celebration!
The day of staff was phenomenal too! The bartender took special care of my husband and I, and the service for both our wedding party on the beach and dinner reception was phenomenal!
We were also engaged while staying at Wild Dunes, and Amber was so kind and sent some special treats to our room to celebrate! We always knew we wanted to have the ceremony and reception on the property and definitely made the right choice! -

Just go ahead and book your wedding here now. Everything about getting married at Wild Dunes was perfect. From Samantha's willingness to go above and beyond to showcase the property to us remotely, to Amber's meticulous and thoughtful event execution, catering management and amazing personality, and every single member of the staff at Wild Dunes, I could not have asked for a better venue. As an event planner, I had very high expectations for my venue and caterer, and Wild Dunes exceeded my them in every single way: the food was delicious, the timeline and logistics management was perfect, the team is unparalleled. Amber and team went above and beyond to build our event with every custom request we had while also respecting our budget. They did not just treat us like the most important people at the resort, but they also treated every single one of our guests as royalty. It made me so happy to have guests come to me and tell me how wonderful their experience was at WD (that says something!) They've developed deep relationships with many of the local vendors, so I never had to worry about a seamless transition - it was all taken care of. I've never worked with a vendor -- professionally or personally -- that was more amazing than the WD team. Book your wedding here, and you'll agree that it will be the best choice you could possibly make. -

Amber and Samantha at Wild Dunes were AMAZING. They were so responsive and helpful and truly made sure that our reception in Sweetgrass Pavilion was perfect, even though rain ran us inside. Getting married at Wild Dunes Resort and booking this spectacular venue was one of best decisions we made throughout our planning process. We were married under the gazebo at The Grand Pavilion with the ocean as backdrop - need I say more? Our reception was indoors at the Tides Ballroom just across the street from our ceremony location. Our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful the scenery was and they themselves enjoyed some R&R with their families on the beach and pool during our wedding week.
From the very beginning, Sam and Amber were such a pleasure to work with and helped to ensure that our "BIG DAY," was just as we had envisioned. Both Sam and Amber are extremely responsive to emails and were fabulous with answering any questions I had along the way (which were A LOT!) :)
During our actual reception, the staff at WD were simply amazing. I can't tell you how many times, my husband and I were approached by varying staff members to make sure we had everything we needed. They were always willing to get us a drink and even made our plate up for us at the start of dinner to make sure we were able to eat and not have to wait in the buffet line. Also to be noted, WD catered our reception and guests couldn't stop talking about how good the food was - especially the bacon and cheddar corn muffins!! YUM!
If you're interested in getting married in the Charleston area and are looking for a fun, family friendly island getaway, make sure you add Wild Dunes to your list!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Samantha and Amber. They were absolutely amazing to work with and answered all of my questions quickly and professionally. They never skipped a beat and always knew what was going on. They do a TON of weddings there but always made me feel like I was the only one they were worried about...I don't know how they do it! We had my daughter's wedding at Wild Dunes Resort and it was an amazing experience in every respect. Samantha Martin, Wedding Event Coordinator, was truly a 'gem' - she was our very own wedding coordinator on site ay Wild Dunes both ahead and during the wedding - she was there for the ceremony & reception. I ran business meetings for many years working with numerous locations and she was, by far, the best I've ever worked with, exceeding all of my expectations. No detail was too small for her immediate reaction to ensure a successful outcome. It's a time when you want the very best for your daughter and following the details is everything for a truly enjoyable day, which all guests had. Food, beverage & hors-de-voirs all outstanding and service excellent.
Also, the entire staff went 'above and beyond' expectations, Richard & Jason at the Boardwalk Inn assisting us in and out and the fellow in charge of set up at the Seagrass Pavillion and Seaside Point was truly professional & amazing. Can't say enough - Wild Dunes is a clear choice for a wedding!! -

Wild dunes was the perfect location for our wedding. We had our ceremony Seaside Point, which was beyond beautiful! We had our reception in the Palmetto Hall, everything was set up perfect and it was amazing. Food was awesome, staff was friendly and professional, everything was more than we could have asked for. Now, Samantha Martin, was on another level of perfection. I don't know how we would have done it without her. She was reasonable, timely and accommodating with every need. She made sure all of our concerns and needs were met. The day of, she was on top of everything, I don't know how she did it. She had our ceremony mixing sands ready, which I still don't know how/when she got-I totally forgot about it the day of in my preparation. She had everything set and ready to go, she was prepared for anything and kept everything low stress. We loved her decisiveness and it helped more than she can know. We can't thank her enough and appreciate all of her hard work. She really did help in every aspect of our wedding. -

Wild dunes was the perfect place to have our rehearsal dinner and wedding. Everything both inside, outside, pavilion beach, pools is beautiful here. It is a little pricey to have your wedding here but everything is great great quality. I can't express enough how good the food and drink was as well as the attentiveness and friendliness of all the staff. The weather caused us to have a few last minute changes and the staff was so good at making this run smoothly and look great so I didn't have to worry about it at all. Samantha is also wonderful to work with. She is so fun and really great at making the day yours and helping you achieve everything you want on your day! The houses and condos are also really nice if you have a lot of people needing a place to stay they will all be in the same spot. The only negative we found with this was it seemed a little difficult booking rooms as a group at times, but in the end it all worked out. -

Great location, beautiful landscapes for our ocean/beach side wedding. We had our reception in the palmetto room, which was done up quite elegantly. Samantha was amazing and super helpful. The food catered was good quality, but more home cooking style the crafty/ artistic catered food or appetizers. We planned all our wedding from overseas and never saw or tasted the food prior to the wedding. But everyone enjoyed the meal and adored the location. Thank you wild dunes for helping make our day quite lovely! -

We had our honeymoon at Wild Dunes Resort and it was FANTASTIC! It was every bit the honeymoon we wanted after the stress of planning and pulling off our wedding on Folly Beach. We stayed in a one-bedroom villa with an ocean view, a fully stocked kitchen and a HUGE bathroom--it was perfect. The beach and weather were amazing; the service, friendliness, and professionalism of the staff was impressive. We can't wait to go back again! -

The best, most magical, memorable, amazing wedding we could have ever dreamed of! We started working with Samantha Martin in September of 2013 and just had our wedding last Friday. Every single dream and vision we had for our wedding came true. Our rehearsal dinner on the croquet lawn was absolutely perfect. We had a low country boil and the food was spectacular. Then our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all at the Grand Pavilion. The food was absolutely delicious. The setting was so intimate and romantic. I strongly recommend this venue. We can't even believe it turned out as perfect as it was!!!! Thank you Samantha and your incredible staff for making our dreams come true! If you're thinking about getting married here, DO IT!!!!!!!! -

We had our wedding at the Grand Pavilion and the reception around the pool. Samantha Martin, the wedding coordinator, was fantastic! She was extremely responsive and accommodating. There was absolutely nothing she could not do! She made the planning a breeze, which was so great considering that I was planning the wedding from North Carolina. The venue was absolutely gorgeous and all our guests had an amazing time. The food was delicious and everyone bent over backwards to make our day perfect. I can't say enough about the people at Wild Dunes, everyone we worked with was amazing. It was the perfect location for a destination wedding! I would not have changed a thing! -

Wedding was awesome! Wild Dunes took care of everything. Family was all from out of town so they rented houses right on the grand pavilion where the ceremony and reception took place. We loved how close everything was and how convenient Wild Dunes made everything. Family definitely wants to come back to vacation there. -

I don't think I can adequately put into words just how appreciative we are to Samantha Martin, the wedding coordinator at the Wild Dunes Resort. She is an absolute pleasure to work with. She is incredibly organized, efficient, sweet and friendly. When we were looking at possible venues in the Charleston area, we found a few that we really liked. To us, what set Wild Dunes apart from the others was Samantha. It felt like I was planning our wedding with a close friend - we knew that our wedding was in excellent hands. We had originally planned for an outside ceremony, cocktail hour and reception on the resort. When it started to rain on our wedding day, she provided a plan b, c and d! Talk about customer service!! The entire Wild Dunes staff treated us and our guests with a level of customer service that we have never experienced before....and I work with a lot of hotels in my day job. While it didn't go as planned, our wedding day was absolutely perfect and I have Samantha and the Wild Dunes' staff to thank. -

We had a very small wedding with just immediate family so we opted to have the ceremony in a house which worked out perfectly for us. Each bedroom had a bathroom and that was great for getting ready. We had our reception in the Club Room right in the hotel and it was an ideal space for our small group. Samantha was amazing at helping us plan our reception. Wild Dunes gave us an amazing full tasting even though we only had 20 people at our reception. They also worked with us to help us reach the catering minimum. Our only complaint with the food was that it was really slow coming out of the kitchen. My husband and myself had already finished our meal before our last guests were even served. If we were a large group I could understand this, but with our small reception I thought the timing could have been better. The Boardwalk was an ideal location for photos and I will never forget when we walked out and heard someone announce over the microphone "You sure are dressed up for Karaoke". The ride from the house to the reception on the golf cart was so much fun and we appreciated having it sent over early so we could decorate it. -

Everyone says your wedding day should be the best day ever and ours was just that! Thanks to Wild Dunes Resort and their extraordinary staff, especially our onsite wedding coordinator, Samantha Martin, there is not one thing we would have changed about our big day. When searching for our venue we were looking for the full package. Wild Dunes exceeds the full package! Our guests were able to stay onsite which is something that was important to us. The accommodations are clean and comfortable and our guests were blown away by the quality customer service they received from check in to check out. Wild Dunes makes the entire wedding planning process enjoyable rather than stressful. The picturesque ocean views, delicious food, and well organized staff made our wedding day the perfect day! The best part was, as the bride, I was able to sit back, relax and simply enjoy! I highly, highly recommend Wild Dunes Resort if you are in search for the ultimate wedding venue in SC! -

We were planning our weddding from out if town and Sammantha was always quick to reply to emails and truly made the planning process fun and easy! The food was delicious, and the catering staff were incredibly helpful. The salon on site was wonderful also, they truly pampered me and my bridal party and everyone looked beautiful! I cannot say enough about Wild Dunes! We absolutely LOVED our wedding weekend! As the bride I felt so special throughout the whole experience. We began planning in January with Melissa Moxely who made everything possible. Melissa took another position, which left me worried about who we would be paired up with - Reilly Mariotti turned out to be our person! She did not disappoint us at all! We are so happy we chose Wild Dunes.
Onto the specs - we loved that our families were able to stay in beachfront homes - The one my family got was perfect with a 12 person dining table for both sides of the family to join together and eat dinner. This is one of the main reasons we chose Wild Dunes - for the amazing accommodations. There are so many different options available. We know that we will be able to go back year after year...by ourselves, with the kids, or even with the entire family. It offers so much. It was also perfect for our guests who were able to stay for several days in regular hotel rooms...or like some stay rent a condo and enjoy the beach.
The croquet lawn offered a beautiful wedding ceremony - again Reilly managed it all and was superb! We had our reception at the Boardwalk Inn Poolside which was perfect for our small gathering. The food that Wild Dunes catered was outstanding! We had a smores bar too! We opted for the chicken, potatoes, and vegetables and it was the best we had ever had!
We also had our rehearsal dinner at the village amphitheater - this was a perfect spot for a small gathering of our family and friends. We were fortunate enough to invite everyone to the wedding and the rehearsal dinner - Reilly managed all of this too - wonderful! We had the Beach BBQ. YUM!
We also enjoyed coming to the village store to get breakfast in the mornings. They had fresh breakfast for $6 and it was really good. Bacon, eggs, grits, or hashbrowns, biscuit. What every bride needs before the big day!
I highly recommend Wild Dunes! -

One word- Incredible! Samantha Martin and staff are the most efficent, professional and friendly group imaginable. Samantha was two steps ahead of us and our concerns at all times. I could not script a better environment in which to get married. The entire resort treated us like we were the only residents there! The food was literally perfect and our guests were amamzed that so much detail could come from a large resort. The Wild Dunes resort will be on our very short list of yearly visits for a long time simply because of how special Smanatha and the team made us and our guests feel! -

I chose the Wild Dunes Resort for the venue for my reception because it is an absolutely charming, seaside resort that was the perfect destination for my guests. Samantha Hazard, the catering sales manager, is more a wedding planner. She pointed me in the direction of vendors who would fit with our vision for our wedding, and she catered to all my reception and guest needs. The Wild Dunes Resort was even the venue for our rehearsal dinner. While I did get married in downtown Charleston, every other event occurred at the resort and was fabulous. I had my hair, nails and makeup done there as did my mother, mother-in-law and some of my bridesmaids. The staff was friendly, helpful and exceedingly courteous to us all. And I must mention the food: It is fabulous! Their chefs make 5-star meals. My parents and my husband's family liked it so much they are planning future trips there. For an in-this-country destination wedding it is perfect! -

Wild Dunes was a great place for a wedding! Our day was absolutely beautiful! Everything went smoothly and the food was awesome! We were able to stay at a house right on the boardwalk and Samantha made sure there was food waiting for us when we got back to our room after our wedding!
The only thing we had a problem with was booking and reservations, which doesn't have anything to do with the wedding itself, but if you have guests coming in from out of town and need to stay on the resort or are doing a destination wedding like we did. But everyone in our party had some kind of issue with their reservation.
Other than that it's a gorgeous place for a wedding and our pictures turned out beautifully! -

Samantha was absolutely amazing to work with for our Wild Dunes wedding. Once the actual wedding started we were blown away by how attentive the staff was. My only complaint is we had our reception on the South Croquet Lawn and there were a million mosquitos which was not fun for me or our guests. Our day was still perfect depite the tiny uninvited guests. -

We had a destination wedding at the Wild Dunes, using the Grand Pavillion for the ceremony and Palmetto Hall for our reception. We had a small wedding that the Wild Dunes helped make feel intimate and wonderful. They were very accommodating to us, our families and our wedding planner to make the weekend special and beautiful.
You do need to stay on top of the accommodations team as many of our rooms were changed from what we were told.
Our only issue was some customized food we requested was not prepared as asked. The worked hard during the night to help solve the problem the best they could though. -

Samantha is very fast to respond and work d with me throughout the entire process. I had a lot of questions and emails sent her way and she never hesitated to help me and answer my questions. We hosted our wedding reception at Wild Dunes Resort and received so many compliments from our guests. All of our guests also stayed at the resort and absolutely loved all that Wild Dunes had to offer. I would 100% recommend having a wedding off season at Wild Dunes - the weather was still absolutely beautiful, and they were able to provide fantastic value and flexibility so that we could really personalize our experience. We were able to host the rehearsal dinner there as well and I can't say enough about how phenomenal the chefs are! The food was some of the best I've had at a wedding. While every wedding has a few hiccups along the way, Samantha Martin was there to address all of our concerns. She was fantastic to work with, especially because I was an out-of-town bride for about 1/2 of the planning process. -

We were so pleased with our wedding at Wild Dunes. While we had some ups and downs in the planning process and felt that our particular ceremony spot was not quite as advertised in the informational pamphlet we received from them, we did feel that our day turned out beautiful and it was so much fun! We would highly recommend working with the staff at Wild Dunes. They were so attentive to our needs and helped our big day come off without a hitch!! -

Beautiful location! They will charge you for EVERYTHING possible so beware! They also add 33.5% tax and gratuity on top of everything, so calculate that into your budget! Our "wedding representative" from wild dunes was always quick to respond via email, however when it came time to put together all details for wedding, she messed everything up! I had to redo everything. Be sure to read carefully before you sign!! Get a wedding planner to help if you can, because you'll need one at this location! -

Beautiful venue, difficult people to work with and a little impersonal.
Wild Dunes was overall a beautiful place to have our reception, which was on the north croquet lawn, direct access to the beach and a very nice lay-out to have a bar, cake set-up and other festivities included in the same area. The experience however as a whole working with Wild Dunes was interesting as their services are more of a corporate approach where all our other wedding vendors were more of an personal individual nature. A general contract, divided into various sections as accommodations, facilities and catering and dealt with by various employees did make it at times impersonal and caused a lack of transparency and intense to work with. This all didnt take away anything from the beauty of the venue and the professional services and the experience on the day of to us and our guests. The fact that the venue host more than one wedding reception at the same time can be disturbing and take away some - even though they are not all on the same lawn - as wedding festivities are organised very close to each other and therefore privacy is not guaranteed during a family event.Wild Dunes Resort's reply:
Hi Louise! Samantha here and I am so sorry to hear this! With our team of two, Amber and I are the only ones you would have worked with so I apologize we did not meet your expectations of a more personalized planning experience! While our legal team does draft all our contracts, we are happy to walk through the specifics of each clause and try to be absolutely as transparent and up front about the terms and how the resort works in general. It sounds like you enjoyed your wedding weekend despite these bumps and for that I am so grateful! We will absolutely take your words to heart and continue to try to grow and learn from each individual's experience! Thank you for reviewing us! -

Wedding Crashers, Third String Service and the Crazy Karen of Guest from the 4th Floor
Dear Future Wild Dunes Resort Bride or Groom,
I have been undecided on to leave this review or not since our wedding on 4/23/2022 at the Sweetgrass Inn but have thought it in everyone’s best interest to share our story.
We booked this venue sight-unseen/pre-covid in their construction phase January 2020. We had met with Corina who was fantastic in the pouring rain and booked it! We truly believed in the Wild Dunes product and the renderings they had shown us.
Fast forward to 2022 (after being passed to several event coordinators) Samantha Ellyn became our direct contact. Her communication was impressive and all my questions were answered immediately. Samantha and I worked well together and we finalized everything in the E.O (Event Order) to the very last detail down to the flow of our guests upon arrival or so I thought. As long as she was in control, we had no issues…Until the day of.
Execution and Safety is where our Wedding Day fell extremely short.
First and the least important of all of our Day-of problems (you’ll see) was the start of the ceremony. We intentionally had our guests arrive through the rooftop bar (which was closed for regular guests) and flow through the terrace to the ceremony space. When I arrived to line up for ceremony, people were being directed through the reception space (missing the passed champagne, memorial table, guest book and card box) and ultimately seeing me prior to walking down the aisle. They had locked the doors to the Nest with chain locks and until I got there and made a mention then they had to find someone to unlock them which took forever and ultimately everyone saw me prior to. For the rest of the night, I had to let people know where the card box and guest book was.
During this time, they had maintenance fiddling with the AC system as it was SUPER HOT. Why at 5:15 PM was this just being addressed? As you can imagine, our wedding reception was HOT. The groom was sweating and leaving the doors open to allow for a cross breeze was promptly negated because they said the sound was too loud (the noise ordinance does not take effect until 11pm.)
Next up was service. Cocktail hour- FOOD was fantastic. We will always give credit where credit is due. Our guests LOVED it and the view was to die for. We had arranged for a bourbon bar set up with smoked drinks. We should have known something was up when the bartender said that was going to be a first. This was the grooms non-negotiable for booking the venue. Now a bartender who can’t smoke a cocktail when this was emphasized since the contract was ratified.
We are introduced and finally sit down for dinner. Again, food was delicious. Our Event Order specifically stated that our cocktail hour items would be at our sweetheart table since we did not have a chance to eat. They were not, I had to tell my wedding planner to find someone to get them. In the midst of dinner service, my husband and I noticed a lack of professionalism and attire of the waitstaff. They were mis-matched, untucked and looked out of sorts. We only found out Monday morning after we met with the Events Director, Jeffrey Payne that we got the relief team or what I call the third string who clearly had no idea what to do. They had 7 people call out and had to call in some staffing company relief. The dinner went off fine thereafter or from what I could tell. I noticed the inside bar did not have the upgraded Wine selection we had paid for (Super Premium brands) and the night kept on. Next up, Cake. We tasted and selected the Cookie Dough flavor with edible cookie dough pieces. I raved about it to my guests. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE GOT. We got vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. The EO (Event Order) specifically stated “with edible pieces,” Jeffrey Payne claims the baker said it was only cookie dough flavored but Samantha confirmed I was correct. Reason being, we were sent home with our top anniversary tier but IT WASN’T OURS. We got another couple’s cake. Pictures to prove. The tasting even had edible pieces and was delicious hence our selection. The cake was cut and was to accompany coffee and tea service. What more could go wrong with coffee and cake? Well, the third string service decided to cut the cake and leave it for my guests to go pick up from a serving tray next to the dance floor instead of passing it out. I did not know coffee and tea was not being offered until my father brought it to my attention. At this point, not a waiter in sight. Apparently, they were all in the kitchen but I know most had been relieved to go help the larger wedding downstairs. Again, I had to get my wedding planner to solve that problem.
Our final food item was the late-night bites. They were to be served but instead they were left on a table with to-go containers for guests to take. We did not receive all the items we contracted either. Not a single server offered me one and I did not get to try them either as they were cold sitting on the table. I was so focused on what was not being done and going wrong to enjoy my night.
Now for the grand finale.
Wedding Crashers and the Crazy Lady from the 4th Floor.
We had two wedding crashers, two females. They entered the room and immediate stood out. My bridal party had to escort them out as they had come up to me multiple times and tried to take photos and even stepped on my dress, drank our alcohol and food. Annoying is an understatement. One of my guests saw them checking out the next morning and bragging that they had crashed all the weddings at Wild Dunes that weekend.
There were several noise complaints that evening (why we were aware of this at all, I have no idea). The 6th floor venue is not well sound proofed so any music can be heard throughout the hotel. We heard it all weekend but understood it was a celebration and we gave previous weddings the same respect we would have liked. Ultimately, this was not our problem as we obliged by noise ordinance regulations and the rules set forth by the resort for sound. Throughout the course of the night, I went to use the restroom and saw an armed police officer outside the reception room. I asked if everything was alright and she responded that she was just patrolling. Great! Came back out and she was still standing there. I proceeded to dance until I saw 4 fully uniformed and armed police officers standing inside our wedding reception attracting everyone’s attention and my DJ’s. RUINING OUR NIGHT. Apparently, this woman called the police since the Resort had not resolved her issue and proceeded to take matters into her own hands. She found herself entitled to come upstairs in her bathrobe and unplug the DJ equipment and yell at my Husband and Wedding Planner. Only after she left the scene, did they go down to her room and escort her from the premises.
I had to beg the police to take the matter outside as they said they had seen nothing wrong with our celebration at all. Understandably, they had to report to a call. This woman ruined our event. Thereafter, instead of celebrating more and saying goodbye to our guests, I had to speak with the manager on duty and 4 fully uniformed police officers (who stayed silent aside from notating that they did not do a disciple reading) because they failed to protect us from hotel guests. They describe the woman as having had a psychotic break, now imagine had she been armed with a weapon or worse? The hotel did nothing to protect outsiders from our event or mediate the situation and allowed police to enter and ruin our event. This was a private event and any access to it should have been limited with security or an elevator bell man or key code for wedding guests. The manager on duty was terrible and his attitude to what had just occurred was disrespectful. Trying to make us feel bad for what he had been through with noise complaints and guests all night. We paid for an event and service and got nothing we were promised.
So now in addition to terrible service and wedding crashers, I have police crashing my wedding like it was a college frat party. I was assured Wild Dunes did not attract this type of customer but clearly, they were wrong. It was all everyone could talk about the rest of the weekend. Now a month post-wedding and the day we waited and planned 2 years for is still ruined in my memories. This will be how our wedding is remembered for life and will be relived at every holiday dinner and event.
We met with director of events, Jeffery Payne, Monday morning (when we should have been in marital bliss enjoying the amenities) and had a subpar resolution by 4pm that evening. He said he did everything in his power to make it better as he came back with a best and final financial solution. This was clearly a breach of contract in every way but the memories from that night, myself and my guests will carry on with us for forever. Ask me if this was the best day of my life and I will tell you, No.
NOTE- We had our rehearsal dinner at Coastal Provisions and Mandie and staff were fantastic. They were punctual, service was outstanding and every food item was delicious. NOT A SINGLE ISSUE! Normally, they don’t do large dinners but they knocked this one out of the park. We also did a Sunday Brunch which had the same subpar service we received at the wedding. Our guests had to walk through a dark room to the Fazio Porch. It started 30 minutes late and they kept running out of items and some that were listed were not even provided. Someone asked for ketchup and it took 20 minutes for a server to find a bottle. At this point, we were numb to the terrible service and waste of money that we just kept on keeping on and got through the rest of the weekend.
Hotel Accommodations:
All of our guests liked the accommodations aside from those that rented condos through the resort. They were told they would be close and within walking distance but were placed miles away. They were guaranteed the resort shuttle and most of them were stood up several times when they called for shuttle service. Causing many guests to arrive late to the wedding. I even had groomsmen walking to the Sweetgrass Inn from Lagoon Villas, carrying their suits because the shuttle never showed. The kicker, I now checked my credit card to find I was duplicate charged for our hotel room. It was refunded but what if others are not so keen to their CC charges?
Forewarned is forearmed and we thought it best to share our story with potential brides and grooms.
Thank you!

Samantha is horrible to work with. Be prepared to deal with an arrogant woman and spend alot of money. $2 per gift bag to hand out to guests if they check in at boardwalk inn, seriously. Venue is awesome but they will nickel and dime you to death. -

I am here at Wild Dunes as I write this. This has been one of the worst vacation experiences I've ever had. First of all, although they could not help the power outage due to bad weather, there should be a back up plan such as generators in place especially for a facility that state that they are 4 stars. I beg to differ completely. We sat and waited all of this out for 4 hours way after check in and was never offered a discount, complimentary meal or anything. The room we were assigned to had soured carpet and we had to be moved. The spa is very over priced and the services are far from being of the 4 star quality. I honestly do not mean to be negative at all however of you want to have a relaxing stay for the price you pay, do not come here. I am very saddened that we have waited for months for our vacay to only have it ruined. -
