The first thing our wedding planner asked us when we started the planning process was, "what parts of our wedding are the most important to us and what are the least? Particularly, if we wanted to stay within a particular budget, where would we be willing to compromise?" We both agreed that a great DJ was something that was very important to us--a DJ can make or break a party/wedding (and we've been to enough parties where the DJ completely ruined the mood of the party, with an empty dance floor to prove it).
We found Matt through our planner and were already aware of his reputation since our planner had worked at a few of his weddings and could attest to his superior DJ/emcee skills and ability to read a crowd. From our first phone conversation, we could tell that he was someone who absolutely understood our vibe and what vision we had for our reception--it was almost like talking to a friend after not seeing each other for years. We reminisced about the good ol' days when rap and hip hop was great and he already knew specifically the type of current and throwback music we'd like to hear throughout the night (even by song).
The day of our wedding was just as we had imagined and followed what we had spoken about to a T. He seamlessly incorporated our custom first dance song, emceed professionally even with last minute changes, knew how to keep the night going according to schedule, when to slow it down for our older guests, and picked it up and kept the party going the rest of the night. He even let us know that a family member had requested a song later into the night but wasn't sure if he should play it since it would slow down the mood significantly, and we agreed--nobody wants the dance floor to clear out when you are expecting the night to end with a bang.
Matt was an AMAZING DJ and one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. He really helped turn our wedding into a fantastic, fun, beautiful celebration! Don't hesitate and reach out to Matt for your event--you won't be disappointed. -

Working with Matt was an absolute pleasure. My now husband and I wanted our wedding to feel like a fun party, and working with Matt, we absolutely got our wish. From our very first meeting, Matt was the obvious choice for us. He was calm, knowledgeable, and we especially appreciated his insight on how to keep the flow of the party going: from where to put the horah to how much of a gap in between would kill the dancing. And he wasn't all talk. I mean this, I have never been to a wedding where the dancefloor was so alive the entire night! He was also incredibly collaborative, which was needed - we threw a lot of weird curveballs at him! We had a high-energy father daughter dance, and he knew exactly where to place it (after the mother-son dance, so it could ride into the dance hour); we needed help mixing our first dance song, and Matt stepped in with a seamless edit; finally, when we insisted on the Macarena, Matt knew exactly how to get EVERYONE on the dancefloor. We have had multiple people come up to us after to say that we had the most fun wedding they've ever been to, and we know this is in a large part thanks to Matt. If you're looking for a DJ, Matt's the one! -

Outstanding La Jolla Wedding with Ryan!
We hired Ryan to DJ our wedding in La Jolla, and we couldn’t have made a better choice. From our very first conversation, he was professional, responsive, and genuinely excited to be part of our big day. He took the time to understand our music taste, helped us craft the perfect playlist, and made sure the vibe matched every moment , from our romantic seaside ceremony to the high-energy dance party that followed.
Ryan was flawless with transitions, read the crowd effortlessly, and kept our guests dancing all night without missing a beat. He was also a calming presence during the wedding day chaos.. organized, on time, and completely self-sufficient.

Epic MC for Epic Wedding Surprise w/ Gryffin
WHAT. A. NIGHT!! 3 more words: JUST HIRE MATT!! Our wedding was a dream come true, and Matt played an unforgettable role in making it one of the most epic surprises of the century. Our favorite music artist Gryffin decided to crash our wedding and surprise us, and Matt was instrumental in pulling it all off seamlessly: He hopped on a call immediately with Gryffin’s team and our wedding planner to plan out the surprise, from the entire setup to the timing of Gryffin’s appearance, hilariously MCing his arrival and faking us all out. Matt helped keep it ALL under wraps…the entire crowd was shocked and speechless! Epic surprise aside, Matt’s DJing of our entire day went perfectly: from the smooth transitions during our ceremony, the great cocktail and golden hour moments from the playlist, MCing our reception, to some awesome final moments of our epic wedding. Do yourself a favor and book Matt right away! I cannot recommend him enough! He just did my wedding at a private home in Malibu which ended up being very large and a long day, but Matt came with all the right energy and performed at the highest level. We're Persian and wanted someone who could do about 20% Persian music, but the rest was a mix of Pop, Latin, Hip Hop, and House. We threw a long list of "must play" songs at him, but he magically got through them all and was able to mix things in perfectly. He was so easy to work with, helpful, and made it all seamless, beginning to end. We also used his services for a silent disco towards the end of the night, so if you're looking to add that on for your event, he can help with that as well. I can't wait to work with him again in the future! -

Best DJ in LA for Multi-Cultural Weddings!
A DJ can make or break your reception, and we are SO HAPPY we found Matt! We have been recommending Matt since the day after our wedding! We had searched through almost every single DJ option in the Greater Los Angeles area for three months and could not find someone that we felt we could connect with. The moment we found and spoke to Matt, we knew we wouldn’t have to worry about being able to get everyone on the dance floor, figuring out our outdoor AV setup needs, and satisfying the mix of cultures we had (New Orleans x Israeli wedding can be a tough one when it comes to music). Matt did an incredible job understanding our backgrounds and expectations of our celebration. Our mix of Israeli, Southern, and more modern music was incorporated organically throughout the day, and the transitions between each song and moment of the day were seamless. Matt was able to get everyone on the dance floor (of all ages) and did just enough MCing to make sure the night went smoothly. He was so easy and fun to work with. He also helped us bring the venue space to life by bringing floor lighting (which completely transformed the space). We will be calling Matt for any event we ever host in the future. Look no further if you want a great DJ experience for any occasion! -

Matt as our DJ was the best decision I made. He was the first vendor I looked for after booking my venue and I knew I wanted a DJ who could control the ceremony, cocktail and reception seamlessly and without awkward down time moments, and boy did Matt deliver. He was the best DJ I had ever worked with (I've been in 17 weddings and planned 14 of them, so DJs are an important part of the day). Matt had our day packed from 2 hours before the wedding, until the night ended. Our guests loved his music, the flow of it, and how much personality he had. We had many compliments on how wonderful he was. But outside of the wedding day, the process leading up to it with Matt was wonderful. He was personable, kind, and really wanted to get to know us, our style and our vision. His website to pick out music and the timeline of songs for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. It was super detail which was much appreciated because it left no room for error.

My husband and I had Matt as our Wedding DJ and he truly delivered the best service! Matt was so professional, knowledgeable, personable during the entire wedding planning process. The music, flow, and timeline of our wedding reception wouldn’t have been the same without some of his crucial input.
We had our April 2023 wedding at The Ebell of Los Angeles and Matt was one of The Ebell of LA’s two preferred vendors. We went with Matt due to his responsiveness, love of music, and his attention to us and our story. He is extremely organized and professional and showed a lot of patience when my husband and I missed our first meeting with him. We immediately had a good impression and knew Matt was the DJ for us. He understood the variety in our music choices, knew the vision we were going for, and displayed so much passion for DJ-ing and music. I trusted Matt and his judgement throughout the entire process and honestly it made my life a lot easier to not worry about the music.
Matt was excellent at checking in and following up for my playlists and showed a lot of patience, considering I had many last minute changes. We appreciated his flexibility when we had to add two performances during dinner and I really enjoyed all of the timeline suggestions for dinner based on the music. He was also flexible when we made a switch to add a band during ceremony and cocktail hour. Our check-in meetings were always so productive and Matt always asked the right questions to keep us on track.
Matt has a lot of experience and delivers quality work and service. We are so happy with how our reception turned out and our guests always say that they loved the music and danced all night. More importantly, I danced all night! The blending and flow of the music was excellent and I couldn’t have imagined a better mix. Not to mention he worked so well alongside my vendor team.
Music is such an important part of your wedding day (or event) and it really makes the experience a memorable one - you will not regret having Matt as your DJ and we highly recommend him for any event! -

Matt just got us. During our initial chat we bonded over our love of music. Matt isn’t just a DJ - he KNOWS music. He got to know us by asking about artists we loved, songs we hated, and our favorite concerts. For us, it was a done deal when Matt knew exactly who Kaytranada was. But Matt's true magic is that he understands the nuances of weddings, especially when it comes to music. It’s tricky! You have to please the older crowd, but at the same time make it an epic dance party for the rest of the guests. He curated sounds for our entire wedding day, from ceremony to our after party. Matt asked us for a list of “Must Play” songs, and if I’m honest, I have no idea how he pulled it off so seamlessly. On that playlist was Bee Gees, electronic music, early 2000s bangers, electro pop AND deep house. Every transition was *chef’s kiss* — If you’re trying to throw the most EPIC dance party, get Matt on your side. -

We have been so lucky to have had Matt Gudis and Who's That DJ provide music and hosting services for our recent wedding. Over many months in planning from L.A. to Australia where we were living, Matt had worked to ensure we had a day that was catered personally to us. He helped us in planning the music we would choose, provided material we could choose from, an easy way to organize, and explained to us how to craft music choices to align with the energy on the day and in the important moments we had, something we extremely appreciated because it helped set the tone and flow of our event. Matt was an amazing MC and built up energy for our wedding and made sure to provide info and cues to the guests to help the event milestones and timings. Matt also provided light design services to give our wedding venue a more cool and intimate factor, and we were very pleased with how everything turned out! He also had extensive experience with the venue and helped us to choose layout schemes like that of our photo booth and dessert table because keeping the guests near the heart of the wedding reception, the dance floor, was the best advice to keep the night fun and fresh. Best dj ever
Matt is INCREDIBLE! My husband and I wanted a full dance floor and for the fun to keep going all night. We requested all different types of music from new to old, some bay area, some Spanish songs, and Matt put them together seamlessly. All of our guests are still talking about how FUN the night was and that they have never danced that much at a wedding before! It was seriously the best night ever for not only us but our guests. The whole process of working with Matt was great and thorough. He is very knowledgeable and had great suggestions. We felt confident he would make the night as fun as we hoped. Save yourself some time and research, and just hire Who's That DJ. If you're looking for a DJ who really brings your wedding day to life, Matt is your guy! I've been to a lot of weddings with some very tacky DJs which is what my husband and I did NOT want - Matt just has this 'cool' factor and I instantly knew we had found the one. His style really elevated our big day. Matt took the time to get to know us, the vibe of our wedding day, and music style from the very beginning. He was incredibly easy to work with. Even when we had to postpone our 2020 wedding due to COVID, he made it a seamless process. We talked again just before our big day to finalize details and we just knew we were in good hands. He did such an amazing job MCing the whole day, and he really knows how to read a room on the dancefloor - he brought the party! So many of our guests commented on how fantastic he was and how great of a time they had on the dancefloor. Makes me want to have other big events just so I can hire him again! THANK YOU! -

Matt is truly, the best ever! We knew we were in good hands having attended two weddings in the last year where he, and his associate Dominic, were the DJs but had no idea how instrumental Matt would be in planning and having a wedding during a global pandemic. Matt and Dom are great. They are super responsive to every call and email. From start to finish they were great. Dom was our DJ on the night of and he is so amazing. He kept the party going until after 2am. He didn’t miss a beat. I would definitely hire them again for any event we need a DJ. Their pricing is super reasonable and worth every penny and more. Matt is absolutely the best and we couldn't have been luckier to have him DJ and MC our wedding!
Before the wedding, Matt was available at any time to speak with us, and during our conversations, he gave very helpful guidance on how to prepare, suggesting types of music for each of our events , keep us organized, discuss with us how he'll run certain events during the reception, and so on such that were had no worries before the wedding. Matt was also very helpful in editing songs for my dad and I to practice our father/daughter dance.
During and after the wedding, SO MANY of our guests said they absolutely loved the music and the way Matt MC'd. Matt was very classy, but also funny at the same time. He kept the wedding upbeat and on schedule, and was also able to keep the guests singing and dancing throughout the night. He was also very patient and accommodating with me when I switched up the order of events last minute during the wedding reception.
We highly recommend Matt for any event - he is absolutely amazing! -

My wife and I had made our rounds on trying to identify a DJ for our wedding. Living in Los Angeles, one could throw a coin and it would probably hit an actor/model followed by a DJ. Nothing wrong with that, it just goes to show that there is a lot of amazing talent out there and making the right choice isn't as easy as it might seem. Matt, from Who's That DJ, was extremely professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. When you're getting married, it seems as if you're getting bombarded with new item after new item. It's hard to remember to breathe at times. That's why Matt and his team became our go-to-choice. The multiple rounds of conversations made us feel as if they weren't trying to sell us. They listened and offered more guidance than expected. As a customer, you quickly learn that you can be as hands-on or as hands-off as you want to be. I can't say enough about our experience. Music was the most important thing for me and my now husband at our reception so I searched everywhere. Matt Gudis is the man to hire if you want the dance floor pumping all night. His transitions are amazing and his website makes it so easy to build a playlist of your favorite songs. He's also incredibly nice and very attentive to detail. We also asked him to do uplighting for our reception and I actually had a moment where I was dancing and realized how amazing the uplighting was (that's how good it was), the lights can change color and sync to the music, it felt like a club in the best way possible. -

People may not remember the color of your napkins or the design of their escort card, but one thing they will undoubtedly remember is how good the DJ was. Well, Matt and his team at Who’s That DJ have really earned their company name!
Matt was the hit of our wedding day and made the entire ceremony and reception flawless. He knew just how to get both our older and younger guests on the dance floor, playing a perfect mix of oldies and current tracks that everyone could dance to, without making us do something like the YMCA or electric slide.
He was very accommodating from the very beginning, hopping on the phone to talk about our preferences, the tracks he must play and the ones we want to avoid. They have a very handy client portal where we can fill what we want played at different points throughout the big day.
We still have friends asking us if he has a playlist he could share because they loved every single song.
Book them and book them fast. -

Our reception was half indoors and half outdoors, and this presented a challenge in having music heard in both areas. Ryan worked with our venue and coordinator to make sure that everything was set properly to accommodate the entire space. The setup worked perfectly and he was able to control the crowd no matter where the party moved to. And the sound quality was excellent! The best part was we felt comfortable having Ryan because we trusted he would make the right decisions in the moment, and he did. We would recommend him to anyone looking for high quality entertainment and professionalism.

Richard Sent on 07/01/2018Do yourself a favor and book Who's That DJ! Our guests were on the dance floor nonstop with a little bit of everything for our mixed crowd. They facilitate a website were you can add songs to your 'must play' and 'don't play' lists. Dom from Who's That DJ met with us to go over every detail. We were not only on the same page but we vibed excellently on music choices (we essentially bonded over Tuxedo & 80s classics). He was on point on his cues for introductions, grand entrance, first dance, spontaneous requests, and everything else. We had a Soul Train and 80's sections to which he MC'd to the tea.
Since getting engaged and throughout the wedding preparations, Ricky and I wanted to ensure our vendors were LGBT-friendly. We are proud to say Who's That DJ are professionals and allies.
