There aren't enough wonderful things to say about our experience with Whitewood Photography! Sarah was attentive from the moment we began communicating and gave us confidence that our wedding would be beautifully documented. She is incredibly pleasant to work with, and several family members and friends mentioned to us after the wedding how sweet they thought our photographer was. We recently received our photos (ahead of schedule!) and they perfectly captured the spirit of the day. Would work with her again in a heartbeat. -

My wife and I were happily married two weeks ago and could not be more pleased with Whitewood Photography. Sarah was absolutely professional from beginning to end; providing us all the needed information of the packages she offered, taking our beautiful engagement photos, keeping an open communication before our big day to make sure we were all on the same page. Having never been in front of the camera before, and not knowing what to expect, Sarah was able to make us feel really relaxed on the day of our wedding and was able to capture amazing pictures of the fun and natural feel of the party. Sarah absolutely captured the moments that will make memories of our big day! All of our guests have commented on how friendly she was and have all been very impressed with her photographs. We 100% without a doubt in our mind would recommend Whitewood Photography for any photographic needs, and will definitely be coming back for more. We couldn't have wished any more from Sarah! Sarah, of Whitewood Photography did a phenomenal job capturing our special day. From day one of working with Sarah, she set out to make our experience as personalized and stress-free as possible. We wished to skew our pictures towards candids over posed formals, which Sarah was able to easily accommodate, bringing in a trusted second photographer for better coverage of our wedding and reception. Both photographs did an excellent job.
Our Hill Country wedding was not without its hitches. We put an order in for blue skies at sunset, but received grey clouds and drizzle instead. Fortunately, our amazing photographer was not only able to capture wonderful shots in the afternoon overcast, but also made precision use of the 20 minutes of actual sunlight that broke through the clouds after our ceremony.
As the evening progressed and our guests dispersed between the indoor dance floor and outdoor back porch and fire pit, Sarah and her partner unobtrusively captured so many great candid shots of the festivities.
Our guests loved the photobooth that Sarah was able to arrange for us; although it was from a separate business, everything went through Sarah without us having to hassle with vetting yet another vendor.
After our big day, all prints were delivered to us promptly, in high quality, on charming wooden USB sticks. The photo album that Sarah put together for us was exquisitely professional, immaculately curated with minimal input from us (by our request), and most importantly, captured the heart and soul of our special evening. -

Sarah was so helpful and amazing during the months leading up to our wedding! I can't say enough how great she is. She always answered my questions and concerns regarding the fine details and made sure that I was informed about everything that would happen the day of. She did a fantastic job with our wedding photos as well as my bridals. I highly recommend Whitewood photography! Sarah is incredibly talented and it shows through her work. -

Sarah did a fabulous job at our wedding! When we initially met her, she was so kind and helpful. She worked with us to make sure we got a second shooter and that it fit within our budget. Throughout the planning process she was very helpful with helping us figure out our timeline and giving us ideas for creative exits. Sarah was quick to respond to her emails and was always very friendly.
On the day of the wedding, Sarah made the process smooth and effortless. I always feel awkward taking photos but with Sarah I was completely comfortable and when needed she did provide direction to make the photo perfect. Sarah captured a lot of candid moments (which is what we wanted) and all of our photos turned out beautiful!
I could not have been happier with Sarah and how well the photos turned out.
Sarah went above and beyond and I would hire her again for other photo sessions. -

Being a same-sex couple in search of an engagement/wedding photographer has been a challenge and in some instances, discouraging. That is why; we were extremely excited to get in touch with Sarah and knew from our first phone conversation, she would be the right fit for us. She showed genuine excitement and support for our special occasion and was prepared to offer her services. After discussing package options, we agreed to have her do both our engagement pictures AND our wedding. I’ll tell you what, after seeing our engagement pictures; we are even more excited for our wedding pictures! We definitely had ideas in our head of what we wanted but Sarah really brought it all together. She took the time to scout some of the locations we selected to make sure the lighting was right, timing between locations and spots for pictures. This definitely made us feel valued as a client and affirmed our decision to choose Sarah as our photographer. We have shown our family and friends our pictures and nothing but ooo’s and aahh’s along with… “Who was your photographer?” So, for those of you looking for a photographer for your special day or occasion, look no further and call Sarah! Whitewood is the best. Sarah and company were amazingly fantastic. There were two photographers (Sarah and a guy who did still shots - I can't recall his name) and both were really cool and easy to be around. The photographs were ready and back to us by the time we got home from our honeymoon... Wow. Some really beautiful stuff. We also had a lot of fun, which makes the whole experience a lot easier and natural. I would highly recommend Sarah and Whitewood Photography if you want some stunning pictures to remember your occasion.
PRO TIP FROM THE GROOM: Inquire about a boudoir shoot for the bride. It's worth it. Trust me ;) -

Sarah was one of the very first people we booked after my husband and I got engaged. Photography was at the top of our list when it came to choosing vendors for our wedding day. We went out on our "search" and were aiming to find someone who would capture us as we are AND someone that we would be happy to share a memory with - as they would be there for some very personal moments, like putting on the dress or a first look. We absolutely found that with Sarah. First, she did a beautiful job with our engagement photos and an even more beautiful job with our wedding. Her expertise when it comes to capturing every moment is obviously conveyed in our gorgeous photos - but the funniest part is that when the wedding wrapped up, I looked at my husband and said "I wonder if there are even that many photos from today. I barely saw Sarah during the ceremony or at the reception." Well, there were tons of photos. That's because she's THAT GOOD. She was busy doing her job while our day unfolded - and she was mostly unnoticed. I don't know about you, but that meant a lot to me and is exactly what I hoped for during our wedding. I can't wait to display her gorgeous work in our home! -

Sarah is amazing! I can't say enough positive things about her! I've personally referred her to all the brides-to-be I know. She does the style that we were looking for, which is beautiful photojournalism while being knowledgeable about portraiture- you have to get the formal family shots while still getting the candid crying shots! She was on time all the time, worked with us on a timeline for the day-of (which was great because we didn't have a coordinator, and it was wonderful to have one less thing to research and worry about), very friendly while very professional, and delivered excellent work! When we received our photos, I was over the moon! She captured those moments I didn't know happened and made everyone look superb. She truly has a talent for photography. -

Sarah and her husband John did a wonderful job capturing the important moments without being intrusive. I never once noticed either of them during the ceremony. Sarah was the photographer for my daughter's wedding, and we couldn't have been more pleased! The wedding was in Comfort, and she was there all day. We paid for an additional photographer with Classis which was helpful, as he was able to spend time with the groom, allowing Sarah to concentrate on the bride. Sarah is amazing !! She took all the pictures I specifically asked for and they all looked SO BEAUTIFUL ! Sarah's photography style was exactly what I was looking for. No posed or "forced" pictures. I had no idea where to start for photography but after seeing Sarah's reviews and photos online and prayed she was available for our wedding. From Day 1, she was very accommodating and responsive. We're a pretty shy couple but our engagements and wedding photos will tell you otherwise. They came out incredible and Sarah captured everything I didn't know I wanted. My husband and I were married in San Antonio in March 2017. I am so glad we found Sarah to photograph our wedding! First, and foremost, the photographs turned out beautiful. She captured so many special moments throughout the day of friends and family that we will treasure forever. Sarah was absolutely wonderful! She not only did our wedding, but our engagements as well. During our engagement she was able to capture the most amazing pictures- even with my maltipoo running around like crazy!
During the wedding my guests truly thought she had a twin because she was able to capture EVERY special moment. Every time I turned around she was there. She was with us from start to finish. The final results were out of this world GREAT!!! There were moments that I wasn't even aware she was there- that I am beyond thankful she was able to get.
I highly recommend Sarah for engagements and ABSOLUTELY for WEDDINGS!!! She is one of a kind and I also have to add extremely genuine and honest person/vendor to work with. -

Sarah Owens with Classic Developments was recommended by a friend. We had a different photographer lined up but due to circumstances, ended up having to find someone else. Sarah was absolutely wonderful. She was very professional, reassured me on numerous occasions, and really understood my vision for the wedding. I haven't seen photos yet (aside from the one sneak), but I have a feeling there will be plenty from which to choose. Her husband was her 2nd photographer, which made the whole thing that much more special. My hubby loved working with them, as well. -

My sister-in-law was married in Boerne, TX this past Valentine's Day, and Sarah was wonderful. There was a lot going on, but she was very attentive and detailed. She made the experience of family pictures a breeze, and was very patient with my baby. She was able to accommodate us at a venue outside of town on a holiday weekend. The end results were phenomenal and she edited and returned the photos quickly. It's a day that will be remembered to be sure - and Sarah was a huge part of that. -

Wow, Sarah was such an amazing photographer for my wife and I save the dates as well as our wedding day. She worked so much with us to make sure everything was perfect. Sarah was able to photograph getting ready, pre-ceremony, ceremony, post-ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, first dance, toasts, and cake-cutting photos. All of the photos she took came out gorgeous. She was attentive and captured all the group photos we for sure wanted, and throughout the night she was moving around capturing picture-perfect shots. We had a situation where we lost our original photographer and needed someone else to come in semi-last minute. Enter Classic Developments Photography. A friend of my wife had recommended Sarah as she knew her personally. We liked the work she posted on her website & Facebook pages and emailed her for a quote. My wife and mother-in-law met with her and hired her that day. She and her husband, who was her back-up photographer, came out to our venue in Comfort and took turns photographing each of the wedding parties as we got ready. Her approach was photojournalistic, which we really liked - she captured the essence of the whole day as opposed to nothing but a bunch of posed pictures. At the same time, because it was our wedding, she honored requests if we wanted photos with certain people. After the wedding, Sarah invited my wife, mother-in-law, and me over to see the finished photos while sipping VERY good champagne. They even had really tasty treats. We will most likely use Classic Developments for future photography needs. Not only were our photos wonderful quality, but Sarah and her husband were both kind, professional, and timely. Highly recommend! -

Sarah is one amazing photographer. She did a fantastic work on our engagement photos and wedding back on september. I also love her photojournalist style. She captures the emotions as it happens. Her pictures are so naturally beautiful. I personally dont like posing in front of the camera but she has a calm demeanor that makes you feel at ease with her. -

The groom has a very large family--parents, 7 siblings and a brother-in-law, just on his side alone--which makes it very challenging for a photographer. We're very happy with the photography for the wedding and highly recommend Sarah Owens. -

Sarah was great to work with! She was always professional, flexible and kind. We were nervous about having our pictures taken, and a little worried about seeming awkward, but Sarah helped to put us at ease and we look great in all of our photos! We had her take our engagement photos, bridal portraits and wedding photos and we are happy with all of them! I like her style of photography--nothing looks too posed or unnatural. She was also very responsive to our questions and needs via email, text or phone. On the wedding day, she was organized and calm and worked well with our families. The second shooter we hired through Sarah was equally professional and great to work with. Overall, I would say that she is a talented photographer and business woman. I am very glad we chose her! -

Our son was married last month at a beautiful Mission Church in San Antonio and the photograpy was amazing! The interior of the church was captured with all its intricacies and magic. The photos of our son and his beautiful bride were captured beautifully from the church, and reception. I would definitely recommend Whitewood.. -

When we came across Sarah's profile on wedding wire. We were so attracted with her creativity from the start. We noticed that she has a great eye for capturing photos. On top of being very professional, she was also very friendly. - When we where able to view our pictures for the first time. We were stunned by how manny priceless moments that she captured with us interacting with our family and friends. It was such a pleasure working with Sarah. Sarah is very professsional. Always responded when my husband and I had questions. There wasn't ever a delay. Always responded to text, email, and phone calls. She doesnt do any type of poses related to pinterest, even the simplest ones. Other than that she was great taking request of photos on the day of, if you can remember what poses you wanted that is. Overall she produced the photos in a USB within 3 1/2 weeks of the wedding date. Very beautiful photos!! we received about 250 photos with web uploads and print quality. Overall we are satisified with our choice with sarah. As a professional, communication, and photos received in a timely manner. Brides when it comes to wedding vendors make sure you explain every detail and have it in writing/emails to avoid confusion with your vision and their own vision. (not in relation to sarah/cdp) -

When I sat down with my husband to make our list of must-haves v. nice-to-have in our wedding, we knew that working with the right photographer was top priority to us. We wanted our pictures to tell a story and capture each moment perfectly, especially because my in-laws would not be able to join us to celebrate our wedding. Our pictures would be the only way for them to experience this day.
After researching many options we always came back to Sarah: there was something so serene and deliberately spontaneous about her pictures, and it was exactly how we wanted to remember our wedding. We're so glad to have worked with Sarah: she captured every detail in our ceremony and reception that we worked on for months to make sure it was gorgeous, but most importantly - how delighted and happy our guests were to be with us! Some of her shots had me thinking "how did she get that?!" because I never felt her hovering over us or even sensed that she was nearby.
Sarah was probably the easiest to work with of my wedding vendors. Her experience shows: Sarah provided a detailed timeline of pre and post ceremony photos (with our input) that I was able to plug-in directly to my day-of run-of-show, she maximized our time for each session, took on the director role to help us find the right angles for posed photos, was incredibly agile with a large group of people and on all fronts very professional in the way she treated us. I appreciate that she was honest and worked within our budget. We were contemplating a second shooter for the ceremony which would have been an additional cost, and Sarah reassured us she could handle both our guests and us to get those real/candid shots of us all in the moment. And she did!
We can't wait to work with Sarah again. I'm already thinking of anniversary photos...family pictures...everything special that we want to capture about our life. -

The bridal pictures were gorgeous! Sarah really captured the bride's personality, style and beauty. She also got the bridal pictures to us super quick, since they were taken the week of the wedding. On the wedding day, Sarah was flexible and receptive to the bride/wedding party's requests. All in all, great job! -

We chose Whitewood because we fell in love with the bright colors in Sarah's photographs, but it's actually that same feature that came back to bite us in the end.
We chose our venue because of the hilly, green picture-perfect scenery it had to offer. And we got really lucky because we had the best weather anyone planning an outdoor ceremony could hope for -- sunny, cool with just a couple of small clouds to adorn the bright blue sky. Unfortunately, you can't make out any of that in most photos. As my husband jokes, our ceremony pictures make it look like we got married in a white abyss. There's no sky, no hills, no buildings.
The outdoor group photos were overexposed, making the bright red and orange buildings behind us look more like an etch. In a few pictures, you can't even make out my husband's entire face, and in others, you can't see the detail of my dress.
We asked Sarah why the photos were over-the-top bright, and she said the position of the sun made it difficult to capture everything from a distance so she had to focus either on her subjects or the background. We could understand that, but for the group photos, she had the opportunity to position us in her favor yet never made the suggestion. We told Sarah how we felt about the photos, and she offered to re-edit them.
She sent the photos, but only fixed a few. We asked if she could redo the rest but she refused; she said doing so would not reflect her artistic style.The real punch in the gut came whenever our friends sent us their photos of our ceremony, and they managed to capture the background and us without having to make a compromise.
Writing this review isn't easy because we like Sarah as a person. She's really nice and prompt. Her indoor photographs were good, some really great. But overall, we were disappointed with how she captured the most important moments of our wedding, our venue's beauty and later, her decision to prioritize her stylistic preferences above our satisfaction. -
