Our organiser, Leighenne Rivero from Whirlwind was very professional throughout the process of planning and making our day a very special one for Nick and I. Everything was pre arranged with the officiant and local authorities and we had nothing to have to worry about besides arriving on the day.

The wedding was beautiful, sited at a secluded beach with catering and professional photography. This service is highly reccommended for any of you who needs a complete and bespoke service for thier big day. You will not have any regrets, you are guaranteed value for your money. :D

Our amazing wedding in Barbados

We dreamed of a beach wedding in Barbados. Despite all the obstacles that got in our way, Leigh suceeded in organizing a great wedding with such a beautiful decor that got our "WOW!"and was greatly appreciated by our guests. Without Leigh, we wouldn't have had the wonderful wedding that we got. Thanks to Whirlwind events once again!

If you are looking for an AWESOME decorator, wedding planner and/or day-of coordinator, I fully recommend choosing Leigh. She is definitely very professional and helpful and will make your vision come to reality. When I first contacted her, I wasn't exactly sure about everything I wanted, but Leigh never made it seem like I was annoying her or wasting her time. In fact, she made it easier by sending ideas. After the first meeting with Leigh, my husband and I decided that we needed to have her for our day-of coordination as well. She was extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a perfect day. If anything major went wrong on our day, we definitely don't know because everything was so perfectly handled by Leigh and her team. Overall, our wedding was nothing short of amazing and seeing the decor all set up was beyond what we both imagined.

Amazing Service!

From our first video chat I knew Leigh was the right person for the job. I was planning my wedding a in Barbados with 100 guest from USA. She made the planning process easy for me. She was professional, punctual, talented and stern when it came too keeping me on budget. My wedding was absolutely wonderful and she was the glue that kept everything together. If on the fence about hiring her. I suggest you just stop thinking about it and just do it!

Amazing Beach Wedding from UK

Thank you so much Leigh, our wedding was just perfect. From picking us up from the cruise ship to taking us to a beautiful beach for the wedding, and all this was done within 2 weeks by e-mail from the UK. Amazing. Leigh was so accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable! She made the process of a small elopement ceremony completely stress free, was receptive to our vision for the day and went out of her way to make it a special day. We can not say enough good things about her and recommend her to anyone on the island looking for an eleopment or wedding planner. The elopement package we put together including flowers and legal fees was very affordable and the flowers were beautiful! Leigh knows a ton of great locations and will make sure your special day goes flawlessly!

My husband and I had the best wedding day ever. Leigh ensured that everything went according to plan and our decor was the bomb.com.

I would recommend Whirlwind Events to all couples getting married because planning weddings can be a hassle but having Leigh took the stress away and we had incredible wedding.

Leigh organized our elopement at a beautiful location in barbados. She picked us up and carried us to the government office where she waited with us to get the actual marriage documents, even though it took her off schedule (thank you!!). My fiancé was missing a few documents but she ensured that we got what was needed for our nuptials. She followed my vision and exceeded our expectations with the "ethereal, romantic" look we were going for for the ceremony. She was extremely helpful, personable and very organized up until the last minute. I ended up arriving to the location a whole 2 hours late but she was patient and flexible and still arranged a beautiful ceremony. Every detail was perfect and unique. If I had a vow renewal or full fledged wedding or even a wedding party, I would book her without hesitating! Andddd my bouquet!! I am not a flower person but she made the PERFECT bouquet for me. My husband and I have no regrets at all! Thank you so much Leigh for everything!

Warning - do not use events by leigh

We had to give 5 stars for this review to be at the top otherwise it gets buried in 2018 with her other bad reviews. All her "great" reviews are clearly fake or from friends and all in 2020 so nothing until 2024 when we had the misfortune of choosing this appalling "service".

We deeply regret choosing Leigh of *Events by Leigh* as our wedding planner. This was by far the most unprofessional, unreliable, and dishonest experience we have ever encountered. I am genuinely surprised that this individual operates as a "wedding planner."

**Key points (if you don’t want to read further): **

- Leigh failed to attend a scheduled appointment to take us to obtain our marriage license, a service we had already paid for.

- The day before our wedding, she informed us she would not be attending and left us to handle (order) the flowers, table, and chairs ourselves.

We booked Leigh based on her "elopement package" as we were having a small wedding and needed assistance with local procedures, particularly in obtaining the marriage license and securing a minister. My partner initially spoke with Leigh as I couldn’t be present, but fortunately, we had already arranged the venue, leaving mostly floral and logistical details to discuss with her. Our main concern was ensuring the paperwork, license, and minister were properly arranged. Thankfully, we had a simple approach, as relying on Leigh for a larger event would have been disastrous.

After we had booked and paid for her services, communication with Leigh became a serious issue. My emails regarding flower arrangements were met with delayed responses, and when she did reply, her tone was cold and unhelpful. Despite sending her reference images and requesting guidance on alternatives, her replies were both dismissive and slow—often taking over a week. With less than two weeks to go before the wedding, I received no further responses from her. Emails were bouncing back, and we were left thinking it had been a scam.

When we finally managed to reach her through another email address, she blamed her assistant's absence for the lack of communication—an excuse that became a recurring theme. It was always someone else’s fault. Leigh even divulged personal details about her assistant’s situation, which was both unnecessary and unprofessional.

One of the most critical failures was when Leigh failed to show up for our scheduled appointment to obtain our marriage license. We had arranged and paid for her to pick us up at 10:20 a.m. (the appointment was at 11) but by 10:27, there was no sign of her. When we called, she casually responded as if unaware of the appointment, then claimed she was at another engagement. She hung up and didn’t call us back with the address or any reassurance about us now being late for an important appointment. We were therefore left to arrange our own transport to Bridgetown, all while she held the necessary paperwork. When we did call her back Leigh remained unapologetic and dismissive, even suggesting we should have driven ourselves. Later, she blamed her extended appointment for her absence, but we were never offered any genuine explanation or apology for her negligence. She refused to reimburse the cost of the taxi saying it was our decision to take one.

That evening we sent a polite email requesting a call to go over logistics, as we were understandably concerned. Leigh's response came late Sunday night, where she informed us she now wouldn’t be attending the wedding, citing that we were having a "no frills" event and implying her presence wasn’t necessary. This was completely false, as we had never communicated any such thing. Moreover, she mentioned multiple excuses, including diary issues and miscommunication with her assistant—none of which aligned with the facts of our previous conversations. She also said the apt for obtaining the licence was a mere business transaction and she didn’t know why we were so frantic. Plus, she could not be held responsible for other people’s emotional responses.

Adding to the above it transpired that Leigh had not arranged the flowers or the necessary tables and chairs, leaving us to try and find replacements with less than 24 hours until the wedding. Despite her claim that she had ordered the flowers, we discovered from the florist that no such order had been placed. In fact, her failure to pick us up for the license appointment seemed to serve as a catalyst for her later cancellation, raising serious doubts about her credibility.

To make matters worse, we received a call from the minister a week later, requesting payment—a service we had already paid Leigh for. Additionally, she had said she would charge us $150 for delivering the marriage certificates, a service the minister confirmed was included in his cost and was only an extra $20.

Overall, our experience with Events by Leigh was appalling. Leigh demonstrated a serious lack of professionalism, responsibility, and respect for her clients. Planning a wedding can be a stressful time, and hiring a planner should help alleviate that stress, not add to it. Leigh’s actions had the opposite effect.

We cannot recommend Events by Leigh to anyone seeking a reliable, trustworthy wedding planner. If you're planning an event, I strongly urge you to seek a professional who values clear communication, accountability, and commitment to their clients.

Whirlwind events will leave you speechless on your day and that tells you how Leigh left me on my day . Even before the wedding she was very reliable, dedicated, professional, and ALWAYS available to the point I would tell her she is similar to Jesus??. She made sure she captured our dreams thus making our day so heart felt even by the guests. I would definitely recommend her services to the whole wide world.. May God continue to bless you whirlwind events and Leigh....thank you a million times for your unforunforgettable service ??

I'm from the UK and recently got married in Barbados with the help of Leigh at Whirlwind Events. She made the whole process so much easier, even picking us up to take us to get the marriage licence. She also had great contacts with vendors - we have had so many people say how good the cake was!

Leigh was the answer to our wedding planning prayers! We had a little bit of pre planning emailing before we arrived in Barbados, and she had everything and everybody booked and ready to go on our magical day. I told her I wanted a church wedding, and she reserved the most quaint and perfect little church there was. Leigh transported us back and forth for us to fill out our paperwork, and to the church when it was time. She is pleasant, professional and very organized. Her entire "team" (glam team, photographer, minister) were very professional as well. Outside of getting our paperwork to her, we didnt have to do anything! Thank you Leigh! Because of you, our wedding day was fabulous! We highly recommend this vendor!

Leigh went above and beyond to help us make our dream come true.
She helped us from beginning to end, stayed with us, was flexible and made sure we had the wedding we wanted...barefoot in the sand on the beach.

Leigh is absolutely amazing! We had a last minute small ceremony and she made everything perfect and treated it like it was a big event. She went out of her way to help us with things that had nothing to do with the wedding. The process was so easy and she handled everything .. we just showed up! :) We had an amazing wedding and gained a friend.
