Great experience!
My husband and I were nervous when looking for a photographer - and when we saw Andrea’s work, we were excited to reach out! Neither of us had ever gotten professional photos taken, so we didn’t know what to expect. Before we even booked her, Andrea put us at ease, wanting to get to know us and what we were looking for without pressure to make a firm decision in the moment. She asked great questions and was very open to doing what we wanted, while helping guide us if we weren’t sure. She was super flexible and adapted to the extremes of weather conditions, giving great direction for poses and making us feel comfortable. She did a fantastic job capturing candidates during the ceremony and reception - we have so many favorites! Booking with her was one of the best decisions we made! -

We got married in the spring of 2025. Finding the right wedding photographer for our multi-day wedding was very important to us from the beginning. We spoke with several photographers, but what drew us to Andrea (in addition to her amazing portfolio) was really our first conversation with her. Her engagement and genuine interest in getting to know us and our story made her our clear choice. We could tell she understood our needs, goals, and wedding vision. We got to know her a bit better during our engagement photo shoot, and her humor and excitement for our experience really helped us relax and enjoy the process even more - we were not posing for her, we were living. She captured our personalities beautifully.
Andrea was very thorough in helping us plan an itinerary and list all of our key moments that we wished to be documented during our wedding weekend. She had a lot of excellent ideas and was able to help us create a timetable for all family and wedding party photos. It was reassuring to us that Andrea knew where to be and how to help guide the photo ops naturally. She was great at capturing both candid and planned moments. Andrea was very good at giving directions and helped people feel natural even when being photographed. She was always polite with us and our guests.
As a solo photographer she did an amazing job splitting time with us as we got ready in the bridal suite and groom’s areas of our venue. She made both of us and our parties feel celebrated and she did this in a very effortless way. During the reception, Andrea somehow was able to be everywhere at once collecting outstanding photos.
Andrea captured every moment we wished for (and more!). When we first saw our photos we were delighted! We remain so, and look back at our photos regularly. The wedding weekend was so much fun, and Andrea’s photos allow us to revisit the events whenever we want.
Andrea was the best photographer for us. We would highly recommend her for any event like a wedding or private photo shoot. She is fun to work with and it was so nice getting to know her through the process. For any future events in our lives, we would absolutely plan to work with Andrea for photos!

Before we even got engaged, I had already started to look for wedding vendors as we would be planning our Wisconsin wedding from out of state. With so many photographers in the wedding game, it was hard to figure out exactly what we wanted until I came across Andrea and her Whimsical Roots page. I was immediately hooked and wanted to book her as soon as possible. It was clear from her style that she cared about her clients, and I wanted a wedding album that reflected that warmth and authenticity. From our first phone call, we adored Andrea. She was so easy to talk to and was eagerly waiting for the news when we officially got engaged. Throughout our engagement, Andrea kept up with us, making sure things were going well in the planning process and even sent us a New Years greeting card – truly above and beyond! When it came to wedding day, Andrea was an absolute angel. I did not think about how many quiet, raw moments I would be alone with just a photographer and videographer on wedding day: reading a letter from my soon-to-be-husband, taking bridal shots on a back porch, and waiting in a back room before finding my dad for our grand entrance. It was such a comfort to have Andrea be the person who was with me in those tender moments. Her presence was a gift for which I will forever be grateful. Once the main events started, Andrea was a rockstar as she navigated a semi-public space, a boat ride that was pretty bumpy, and an entire event outside with the sunlight fading too quickly. She made everything look easy and kept such a positive, energetic attitude the entire day. We still talk about how much we laughed while taking photos because she made it so fun! The turn around time for our final photos was quicker than we expected, and we are so blessed to have such beautiful, timeless works of art to remember our special day. -

Andrea is the most amazing photographer! Having engagement and wedding photos done by her and they captured EVERYTHING I was hoping for. Just in the moment and not stiff and uncomfortable looking, and the color is just stunning. She made both of those days the best days ever and I now have amazing photos to look back on those memories. I can’t wait for my 1 yr anniversary photo shoot!!!! -

Where do I even start…Andrea and I have known each other for over 20 years starting in 4th grade. While in school we were never considered close friends, but we never had an issue speaking to each other. After we graduated, we would see each other around our hometown, and every time we did, we would catch up, have a few laughs, and go about our separate ways. There were always the occasional “likes” on Facebook but yet we could always reach out to each other and keep in touch.
Fast forward a few years…my fiancé at the time asked me “do you know any photographers who can do our wedding?” It didn’t take me long to think of Andrea and I immediately looked up her business (Whimsical Roots Photography) and sent her a message asking if she could photograph our wedding. As excited as I was when my now husband asked me to marry him, I was just excited when Andrea said “YES!”.
From start to finish, Andrea was nothing but kind, professional, and willing to listen to all of the questions that we had and patient enough to answer them all, and because of our history, it was great to catch up on our personal lives as well.
The day of our wedding, even though I was freezing my butt off outside, Andrea kept my laughing the entire time and even let me borrow her hand warmers to keep me from turning purple. Once we moved inside, she did exactly like we discussed…fly on the wall photography, which was shown in the photos after and made us feel that we were there all over again.
What our biggest takeaway from this experience was, not only how Andrea treated my husband and I, but the number of comments that we received from our guests PRAISING the amazing job that Andrea did. She never pressured them into taking a picture, always had a smile on, and made our guests laugh the night away. Every picture of our family and/or friends, you can see how much FUN they had, and it was very evident by what they said about her and what we saw through the photos.
Words can never describe how thankful we are that Andrea was able to be there on our special day. I am beyond blessed that she has been in my life for as long as she has and that she could be a part of this day, one of the biggest days of my/our life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there and for taking such good care not only of us, but most importantly, of our family and friends.

Amazing!
When I posted on my Facebook that I needed a wedding photographer Andrea came HIGHLY recommended from many friends. We booked Andrea for our Engagement Pictures, Wedding Pictures and our One Year Anniversary Pictures. We chose Andrea because she is a fantastic photographer, professional and an amazing person. We were looking for someone who would capture all the special moments of our big day so we could look back at them forever. Andrea exceeded our expectations. She captured every special moment of our day and we couldn’t have asked for more. I was concerned about the amount of time that we would have to take pictures after the ceremony. Andrea helped me to make a list of all the pictures we wanted and really nail down an exact timeline to make sure we could get everything we wanted. The day of she did a fantastic job of getting our family and bridal party where they were supposed to be in order to get these pictures done. Working with Andrea from start to finish was incredible. She goes above and beyond. Before we had our engagement pictures done she took the time to get to know Chris & I. She learned about our relationship, our hobbies and our lives. Which really made both of us feel comfortable with her. She is also organized and timely with her work. Something that sticks out in my mind when working with Andrea is her spunky personality. She made every session so much fun. I just simply love her! She’s such an amazing human and photographer. Our finished photos are beautiful. She captured everything we wanted and more. My favorite photos are the candid ones where you can just see how much fun everyone was having! Booking your next session with Andrea is the best decision you will make! -

Best photographer for a bright, bold, unique wedding
Pretty much from my first visit to Andrea’s website I could tell she had a good vibe and I’m so glad I chose her as our wedding photographer. Throughout the whole process leading up to our wedding she put true effort into getting to know us, our story, and our style. We wanted our wedding to be a bright vibrant day that was really unique to who we are and Andrea capture the essence of that beautifully. Her photos captured so much genuine emotion and her editing perfectly enhanced the bright colors we had. She is such a bright friendly person that made us all feel comfortable getting photographed and kept the laughs rolling. We have since moved out of state but would absolutely travel back to Wisco to use Andrea as a photographer again, that’s how much we love her and her work. You should definitely book her too. -

We found Whimsical Roots via Google and we sent an inquiry right away to book Andrea for our engagement and wedding sessions. We loved the bright colors in her photos and that they didn’t look heavily edited. We wanted photos that were natural looking and Andrea did just that. Interacting with Andrea was a dream and it felt like we clicked not just as photographer and client, but also as friends! She is so personable and kind. She helped us get comfortable and laughing in front of the camera, which resulted in hundreds of amazing photos. We got our engagement photos back within a few weeks, and our wedding photos back in about 2 months. We couldn’t believe just how many quality photos she had gotten of our special day. Andrea was super responsive and timely with getting back to us, and it was so easy for us to put our trust in her. We love Andrea and we recommend Whimsical Roots for any and all photography events! -

andrea is such an amazing and creative photographer! although our wedding day was hectic with a lot of people and interruptions she still made the time needed to execute every image we wanted for our wedding photos! i am beyond thankful and happy about our wedding photos after the finishing touches she made to each one carefully! Whenever I think of photography, I think of Andrea. I have known her for years and have watched her business grow from just her and her camera- to now having it ALL! She exudes high energy, laughter, fun, and love and captures your precious memories in the moment. I have used her for children sessions, mommy & me and most recently our engagement pictures! Simply the best

Perfect and Flexible Wedding Fit
Andrea does amazing work, you can see it in her portfolio but her professionalism and personality set her apart. We had a smaller unconventional wedding and Andrea made sure her services fit us and not the other way around. I really appreciated her constant understanding and listening to what we wanted vs. making what she wanted and it is hard to come by. Her fees were reasonable and her work was breathtaking to receive. She laughingly called herself a ninja and would move swiftly to capture so many special and candid moments. She has a knack for capturing the emotional sweet moments that I felt but until I received her pictures, I didn't see. She felt like a friend you have known for years and are comfortable with. I cannot recommend her enough and hope others are as fortunate to have her photograph their amazing moments. -

Friendly, professional - would recommend!
Even though Andrea is a good friend, she still treated the shoot as professionally as she would any other shoot. The pictures turned out beautiful! She captured everything on our list, and even suggested an alternate place to take our bridal party photos because she thought it would fit our style better than the place we'd selected just because it was closer to the venue. She even made sure to get pictures of each table decoration since every one was different, as well as the room setup with the uplighting. I didn't really get to enjoy it the day of, so it was very nice to see so many pictures of the setup. I would recommend her to anyone! -

Classic and on par
Andrea is wonderful, personable, and someone you definitely want to have "in your face" with the camera on your wedding day. When choosing a photographer you really want someone that you would feel comfortable with all day and that knows how to photograph a wedding. Andrea doesn't bark orders, she isn't all posed photos, and she gives room for flexibility. Your mind will always change or timelines are always goofed, so flexibility is great as well.
She was prompt, the images were just beautiful and having that extra smiling face was just that much more meaningful.

The Photographer You NEED
In 2016 I found myself searching high and low for a wedding photographer in the Milwaukee area. I had one huge hurdle: I was planning my Milwaukee wedding from Hawaii where my fiancé was stationed at. After researching and reaching out to many people I found Andrea. She had amazing reviews, I liked her portfolio, and she was EXTREMELY easy to work with. I was able to work with her with ease despite a 5 hour time difference-I can’t even imagine the level of service people receive from her if they are planning their wedding in the area! When we finally got to Wisconsin we met with Andrea where we were able to tell her more about ourselves and how we envisioned our photos turning out. The day of the wedding was awesome! Andrea was a lot of fun to work with. I’m not a huge fan of getting my picture taken and think I’m a bit awkward with posing-she definitely helped loosen us up. Our photos turned out amazing and two years later I still get complimented on them. My husband and I are returning to Wisconsin this summer and hope to have her take family photos for us! -

I came across a Facebook post about winning a free engagement shoot. Who wouldn’t want that’s right? So I entered. A day or so later Andrea emails me to introduce herself and ask about our engagement story. Thinking this was already going so well with her first email that I would respond. Maybe a few days later she emails me again saying that I had won second place in her contest, I had won a 1/2 price engagement shoot! Sooooo excited...we set up a time to talk on the phone and start talking about what I wanted. She was the first photographer I had talked to so when on the phone I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted. I’ll admit I was a little nervous too. Andrea was super nice and told me to fill out a questionnaire and start planning our outfits. I had sent in the questionnaire and we set up a date for the shoot...a Tuesday which I took off work to do. I didn’t hear ANYTHING from Andrea until Monday the day before! She asked me if I was still set on the locations I had put on the questionnaire. The weather wasn’t supposed to be good so I asked if she knew of an indoor location that we could also take the dog to. That was the morning of the day before. Andrea doesn’t respond until 7-8 am THE MORNING OF to say no she didn’t know of any places and asked if I wanted to reschedule. Umm what??? Reschedule what? There was never anything set up! I sent her an upset email telling her that I didn’t want to reschedule with her. Andrea responds...same day (what a surprise)...that she couldn’t control the weather and how she would prefer to shoot in natural light anyway. I’m sorry Andrea but it’s not what you want is it? She told me you had to be flexible in photography. Are you serious? What if I had wanted to set up and hair and makeup appt? I really want to know what her plan was. Was she just going to email me in the middle of the day asking when I wanted to meet up and where? I never responded to her. Fast forward a month and I was talking to my hair stylist about how this went, I tried to find my emails to show her. I was blocked! I was going to be the bigger person and not leave a bad review because I technically was never a customer. Now! Knowing that she blocked me! Everyone should know how unprofessional Andrea is.
In summary, don’t do it.
