    Rustic Barn with beautiful gardens

The Webb Barn was the perfect venue for us because we were looking for a place to have the wedding where we could choose our own caterers and bar. Very beautiful and rustic with lovely grounds and gardens. Katie, who is the contact person, was great, and anytime I had a question or concern answered me right away. This was a destination wedding for us as we all live in Florida, so we had actually booked it from the pictures. Katie made an appointment when I was in Connecticut so I could see it about 11 months prior. The bride ad groom did not see it until a few days before but they really loved it. ( I am the mother of the groom and did all of the planning) I can't say enough wonderful things about the place. They will even open the museum that is associated with the Webb Barn for an additional 100.00, which I thought was a nice touch.

    Extremely helpful staff

The Webb Barn is a beautiful venue, but most importantly, they are truly great in working with you to organize everything. Their preferred vendors were all great and Katie was immensely helpful when we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID. She met with us several times and was even texting with me on the day of the wedding to address a last minute issue. Everything was truly perfect!

Perfect Rustic Venue with Historical Twist

We had the best time! If you are bride who wants a blank canvas the barn is perfect and if you are a bride who wants to keep it basic with the beautiful dark wood and pre-strung twinkly lights you can't lose. The setting is beautiful and the people who run the museum are fantastic. Katie was wonderful and very responsive. When I walked into the decorated barn at my wedding my heart lit up. It was such an incredible place to get married

Absolutely loved our wedding at the Webb barn. Katie was great to work with especially when I heard rain was suppose to be in the forecast. She made me feel 10 times better about it after talking to her.

Webb barn is beautiful! The staff are so helpful and Katie the coordinator is so responsive and kind. They let you go to the venue as many times as you want before the big day to check it out. My wedding day was perfect there!

We couldn't have picked a more beautiful venue for our October wedding. The barn's event coordinator Katie was extremely helpful with answering any questions we had leading up to the big day (and I had A LOT of questions) and was extremely patient and professional. The Webb Barn is definitely one of the more affordable rustic venues in the area. Our guests haven't stopped telling us how beautiful our wedding was and we couldn't agree more!

We honestly could not have picked a better venue for our wedding. It was a beautiful day in September, the historical gardens and beautiful colonial architecture ended in the result of our amazing wedding photos that captured our whole day. The staff at the Webb Barn helped with the set up and flow of the whole day and were extremely helpful in the months leading up to the wedding day. I definitely suggest the Webb Barn to anyone in the area looking for a beautiful rustic venue!

The Webb Barn was amazing for our son's wedding this past weekend. Thank you Katie for all of your efforts in making everything absolutely perfect!! The ceremony was beautiful outside in the most magnificent setting, and the reception flowed both inside and outside of the Webb Barn. Our guests had the very best time!! The venue is just so special. Thank you for a truly special day we will always remember. This is a magical place!!!

The Webb-Deane-Stevens Barn and Museum in Wethersfield is a truly wonderful and special place to have your wedding ceremony and reception. Katie Sullivan who manages the barn is terrific---responsive, experienced, reassuring, and wonderful at her job, She gives you a feeling of toal confidence and comfort and invests so much energy in making your day perfect. The barn is a beautiful and warm rustic setting for your wedding with room for 135 inside the beautifully lit barn and has a door that leads to a beautiful slate patio and then a wonderful grassy setting scattered with huge apple trees and picnic tables. It is casual and elegant, rustic and classy. The ceremony which takes place behind a beautiful oak tree where white seats are set up in a semi-circular pattern that creates a wonderful setting and aisle for the wedding part to leisurely walk from the quaint museum to down the aisle . It is so special. The pricing is incredibly reasonable especially compared to many of the barn wedding venues in Connecticut.

I had my September wedding at the Webb Barn and it was magical!!!! The venue is perfect for brides who want to completely customize their wedding and bring their DIY projects and ideas to life! Katie (the coordinator at the barn) was always responsive to my needs, questions and requests, she was nothing but a pleasure to work with throughout the whole process. Jay, the coordinator who assisted us on the day of the wedding was just as responsive and reliable as Katie! I could not recommend this venue more! Just keep in mind, it requires a lot of work from the bride, but in my opinion, it was all totally worth and (and FUN for me!).

This venue is stunning and was exactly what I wanted. It had the historical aspect that I love so much and the gardens are gorgeous. Be prepared that this is truly a do it yourself venue, the barn was a blank slate and I was able to transform it into exactly what I had in mind. It was a lot of work and planning, but 100% worth it. Katie is very nice and answered all of my questions. She was also a huge help on my wedding day, even helping my sister devise a plan to prevent me from getting wet. Yes, it rained briefly on my wedding day and we had to do the ceremony inside, but everything was still absolutely perfect. My guests all raved about how beautiful the venue was and how much fun they had!

Webb Barn was everything we wanted and more. It was perfect for a fall wedding, rustic and an absolutely gorgeous venue. We got married under the big tree in front with the garden and historic buildings in the background and the leaves were so colorful and beautiful. What we really liked was that we got to provide our own catering and bartending services. Both my husband and I are very picky eaters, and I'm a picky vegan making things even more difficult! We were able to bring in Big Green Truck Pizza out of New Haven CT and could really make the wedding very personal and out of the ordinary thanks to the flexibility of Webb Barn. Katie, the event coordinator was very helpful and responsive with all of my questions as well. I would love to have another event here one day!

The Webb Barn was the absolutely perfect place for our wedding. We chose it for it's charm, which meant little need to over-decorate and lots of flexibility. For us it was really important to have our own caterers and this worked out perfectly. It has everything you need to be able to put on a reception for 135 people (we had 130) and everyone absolutely found it to be amazing. If I had one complaint it would be that 4 hours is just not enough. Katie was super responsive and really wonderful on the day of the wedding. If your looking for a place that is not your typical banquet hall you won't be disappointed here and your guests will be enchanted.

We got married at Webb barn on 5/19/18. What can I say about this place except that it is a rustic wedding dream! The barn is gorgeous and the fact that I could pick my own caterer was perfect for me. There are also wonderful gardens and a patio for your cocktail hour. Katie and the rest of the staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful.
    PROS:
    - garden and barn are great rustic setting
    - lots of parking

    - amazing spaces for photos including outside historical homes, the barn and gardens

When I first went to check out the Webb Barn in Old Wethersfield as a potential wedding venue, it was love at first sight! The barn provided the perfect rustic setting for my vintage spring wedding. With full use of the museum grounds, we planned a beautiful outdoor ceremony under a huge locust tree surrounded by historic homes, garden, and barn. The barn itself was gorgeous and spacious enough for our 95 or so guests, though I can see it being pretty tight for a party of over 120. Katie Sullivan, the wedding coordinator was quick to respond to all of my emails and allowed me several visits to the barn to help visualize our reception decor and table arrangements. There was some initial miscommunication regarding insurance requirements (i.e. liquor liability insurance), but that was sorted out with the caterer and with us before the wedding.

If you are looking for a unique down to earth and beautiful place to get married this is a great spot. We got married outside in the afternoon and then had the reception in the barn. Everyone was completely enchanted with the look of the event and it took very little decorating on our part. I only wish we could have stayed longer then 5 hours!

The event coordinator, Katie Sullivan, is terrific. The barn is rustic but has the benefit of a good size catering kitchen and newly installed wall unit air conditioners. Beautiful terrace and adjacent gardens. Much more memorable than a conventional wedding space.

The Barn was the perfect location for our wedding, and we had a blast. Everyone enjoyed the grounds, the gardens, and the unique nature of the wedding. We loved everything about it from the moment we walked inside. While it provided a lot more flexibility than other barns in the area in terms of choosing your own caterer, florist, etc., there are restrictions about timing, and decor, but we felt they were easy to work around. Ultimately, you're getting married in a beautiful and historic place, and with that comes some responsibility, so that it's still there in 200 more years. Katie was easy to work with, however, she doesn't work every day, so I could see where some people might be frustrated by that, but again we didn't see a problem. I would reccomend the Webb Barn again to someone in a heartbeat!

We fell in love with the barn and it's grounds the moment we stepped foot on the property. Situated in quaint old Wethersfield, it was a perfect location for our elegant, rustic wedding. That said, since it is a historic property, some things weren't allowed (candles, nails, balloons, swizzle sticks, timing, etc.), but that was easy to work around. Katie, the barn coordinator was super friendly and very accommodating. She gave us many suggestions for vendors, met with us on several occasions, allowed us ample time to set up, rehearse and decorate to our liking and even sat down with me the night before our big day to go over a last minute seating snafu (because the size of the tables included with the rental are very small). I would recommend re-doing the website and the contract. We had some minor miscommunication regarding what we had paid for and exactly what is included for the venue in the contract, but this was easily resolved. I'd also recommend that the barn buy their own tent and better chairs, etc. than what come with the rental. Katie could easily use this as an "add-on" package because it seems most of the weddings that rent the barn, rent tents, cocktail tables and chairs anyway. Although, I think for the price, these should be included anyway.
Overall, great experience and beautiful setting! Highly recommended.

We had our wedding here in June, and it was beautiful. We were married under the tree beside the barn, and luckily the weather held out. I read the other reviews, and I did not find a problem with mosquitos at all. Also, we had an amazing wedding coordinator who was able to arrange EVERYTHING, so we didn't have any problems there. If you are looking for a venue where you can switch things up, and are not looking for a cookie-cutter wedding hall wedding, this is the place for you...but get ready to use your imagination. The gardens were beautiful and the barn was perfect. Late summer brides, beware though, as it is not air-conditioned. It can get very toasty in there.

We picked the Webb Barn solely for the rustic feel and location. We accepted that by choosing this location, we were going to have to put in a little more time, effort and money than a location where everything is "included." If you're a bride that wants more control over the details and wants a rustic location- this is the beautiful venue for you.

The weather held out and we had a beautiful outdoor ceremony. We had about 85 guests, and every guest raved about the unique flavor and beauty of the venue.

I knew I was rolling the dice when I picked this location- hoping to have an outdoor ceremony and reception in a barn with no air conditioning in August. This is the ideal location for a fall wedding, but since I'm a teacher- it had to be the summer. If our wedding fell in the midst of a heatwave, our guests would have been extremely uncomfortable, or we'd have to spend even more money to rent some sort of air conditioning unit.

Kate responded to emails relatively quickly and occasionally I needed to send another email or call for a response. She was on vacation the day of my wedding, so Howard was there to oversee the table and chair setup and he was great to work with.

Our wedding at the Webb Barn was absolutely beautiful! Although it rained, and was rather cold for May 25th, we made it work! Instead of the outdoor ceremony we planned, we were married under the arch of lights inside the barn... and it looked magical. I could not be happier with how things turned out.

One thing I would recommend to anyone planning to book the Barn, is it gets rather hot with people inside dancing. Even though it was 50 degree outside, we opened the barn doors for the last hour of dancing! If you are considering a July or August wedding, have a heat plan! I am not sure what you could do other than offer paper fans, lots of cool drinks, and turn the ceiling fans on high.

Katie, the event coordinator, was helpful throughout the process. She prefers phone calls over email, so if you contact the Barn, trying giving them a ring first.

Overall the Barn is amazing. I think the site rental fee is a little steep for the location, but people are paying it! I did, at least :) The ability to bring in your own vendors is nice, but I am not sure how long that policy will remain. I highly recommend looking at the Webb Barn. We had 85 people at our wedding, which was perfect! Everyone fit inside with enough room to spare, but it didn't look sparse.

Overall, our day at the barn was absolutely amazing. If you're the type of bride who either has the talent and time to figure out every detail on your own, or if you have the money for a wedding planner, then the barn is perfect for you!

Bringing in all of our own vendors was a little stressful at times, but luckily we chose them wisely and they did an amazing job and worked well with the folks at the barn.

The Webb Barn was beautiful at my recent wedding. The barn is pretty, but the lawn, garden and patio really make the location special. The staff is friendly and helpful though take a day or two to return emails. The barn can get expensive very quickly with extra costs for tent on the lawn/more than 135 guests/moving tables. Also, hiring a caterer separtely from the venue costs more and is stressful to coordinate at times.

Beautiful place, very decent prices. But they are not very involved and they are NOT flexible.

Prior to the day they were very good and flexible. I would recommend a day of coordinator including the receiving of tables and chairs and there for set up as well as events at the wedding and then break down. The barn didn't provide those services in the price or offer as an add on but the venue is awesome!

We attended our second wedding at the barn recently and while I definitely agree the barn is gorgeous and magical... it is A LOT of work. My brother and his wife were married here and for around $4,000 you get nothing but use of the barn... which is surprising to me. My husband and I were married in a big city where even the ritz-iest venues included more than old, ugly chairs in their fee... and allowed guests to stay longer than 4 hours.

Photographs from the wedding come out amazing and it really is a fun time, but the MOSQUITOES! are horrible! You'd think for having a wedding in a garden, outdoors, with lots of trees, that they'd at least place citronella candles or scented oils to repel the mosquitoes. The poor bride was swatting mosquitoes during her vows and all the guests were getting eaten alive. Thankfully one of the guests ran to the store and picked up a bunch of bug spray.

Also, I think the worst part about this place was the coordinator. I actually don't know her name, but I was appalled to hear about her interactions with not only the bride and groom throughout the entire planning process, but the comments she made under her breath to guests! I understand there's a need to stay on schedule, but the last thing a bride needs the night before her wedding is having a complete bit** of a person walking around reminding everyone how much time they have to take all of the decorations down. I was disgusted with this lady.

Really, I am appalled at the coordinator's complete lack of professionalism and total void in compassion for stressed out families who are trying to put together a wedding at the last minute.

I would not ever recommend anyone to get married at this venue unless the wedding coordinator was replaced.

I am not even the bride, I'm just sharing what I not only witnessed myself, but also heard from both couples who were married here. Both couples regret getting married at the Webb Barn, no matter how magical and gorgeous the photos turned out, they wouldn't tell anyone else about their disappointment and regret in choosing Webb Barn... but when I straight out asked them, they said it was a lot of work and the coordinator was very, very difficult to deal with. I guess she has a very snotty attitude, is not flexible, and lacks the professionalism and sense of working WITH a couple, not against.

Lots and lots of work. You need to bring in EVERYTHING. If you want nice things... tables/chairs/linens, lights, all your catering, decorations, heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they had to bring their own toilet paper.

I feel sorry for the couples who regret their decision to get married here. It really is gorgeous.

    Warning!!!

Beautiful grounds and stunning pictures! Katie was friendly and accommodating until my wedding day. She went back on things she had said in front of witnesses, breached our written contract and screamed “this is my ****ing barn” in a manic outburst at my husband and I in front guests, our small nieces and staff. Before booking, I read a disturbing review about treatment of guests. I wish I had trusted my gut and found another venue.

    The big issues were:

    - Appalling treatment. Katie told us (witnessed) that if we paid for an extra hour after the 15-20 minutes before the property cut off time she would “ look the other way.” Fifteen minutes before the contractual end of our reception, Katie told us that we had to “get out” and that “this is my ****ing barn.” When reminded her of her previous words, she verbally accosted family members who tried to calm her. When asked if there was anything more we could do to fix it, she said no. We would have gladly payed more for the 20 minutes, but the only option given was to take an unspecified amount from our security deposit. Given her erratic behavior, this was an uncomfortable prospect.

Chaos ensued. We scrambled to do the bouquet/garter toss, lost the top of our wedding cake and likely gifts. Decorations were packed into cars that went to three states making rental return a nightmare. #honeymoonhighlights…All over 20 minutes that we gladly would have paid for had it been mentioned at any point including our reception. Chiefly, I was shocked at how Katie treated people. It was horrifying and beyond unprofessional.
    - Breaching our verbal agreement and written contract, which stated using flame was prohibited INSIDE the barn. Wedding day: Katie “seized” my outdoor tikki torches ($300) from my coordinator, locked them in a shed and almost prevented decorating of the tree in my ceremony despite previous conversations, nothing in the contract, and hundreds of pictures of others doing so.

I would rate "professionalism" as a negative number if I could.
We booked our wedding here in February. We signed the contract with the director, paid our down-payment, received the bill for the rest in the mail and paid that. Then, about four days before the wedding, I received a third-party email inviting me to tour the gardens at the Webb Barn on June 22nd, 2014, from I think 11 am until 4 pm.
I was set to get married at the garden entrance at 2 pm. According to our signed contract, we had the venue AND the garden until 7 pm.
My (then fiance) husband rescued me from a panic attack by calling the person we signed the contract with immediately. He also called the Executive director, who, we were told, was on vacation and would conveniently not return until after the wedding.
After my husband took a day off from work because he couldn't get a straight answer from Katie, he went to the Webb Barn to meet with her. She assured him that the "best (she) could do" was to effectively "give us" until 2:30 to perform the ceremony and take all of our professional photographs.
I cannot write too much because I am overwhelmed by my stress from this just thinking about it, but, in short, the woman came into the dressing room where I was preparing with my bridesmaids and TOLD me to "hurry" and stormed out, after asserting that I only had half of an hour, EVEN THOUGH WE HAD A CONTRACT AND HAD PAID FOR FIVE HOURS.
She then tried to rush my photographer, the amazing Sara Scranton of Lipgloss Crisis, and even hurried my mother.
In the end, we ended up having to rush my 92-year-old grandmother, who is very ill and can barely walk, in and out of pictures because we didn't have enough time to get pictures in before the garden filled back up with strangers.
If you have already booked this place, call and call again to make sure they don't do the same to you! We have received no apology and a cold shoulder after they screwed us over!
