Amazing hair styling, and lots of wedding options!
As a wedding planner and hair styling customer, I cannot say enough amazing things about Wave Lengths Salon & Spa! They offer some very unique options for bridal clientele such as a free room where the bridal party can get ready in, adding on drinks and a charcuterie board, a selfie station with light ring, and so much more. Comes in handy for the wedding party in which some members wish to do their own hair + makeup, this way they can still feel included in the day's events. They even offer an option to rent out the entire salon! And for the bride who prefers on-site hair + makeup....they have a team specialized for that as well from venues to hotels and Airbnbs.
I had the pleasure of getting a hair wash and blowout, and absolutely LOVE how light my hair feels and how and how stylish my hair looks 😊
You'll be in great hands with Wave Lengths Salon + Spa, whether you're there for regular appointments or for special occasions! They're kind, caring, experienced, and professional! -

This salon is amazing - everyone here is so professional and will do whatever it takes to make you look great. I had my bridal party in here and everyone's hair and makeup came out better than the photos we brought in! Highly recommend this salon! -

Absolutely loved the work that was done for my wedding day, everyone was happy with how they looked. All of the hairstylists and makeup artists were nice and very helpful. There was a great mood and feel in the salon that helped keep everyone relaxed! -

Went in for a trial updo a few months before the wedding and Dee was so helpful helping me figure out the hairstyle I wanted. It was quite intricate but she was able to replicate it on the day of the wedding. The updo lasted all day and night. The price for me plus 5 other wash & style for bridesmaids was very reasonable. -

Wavelengths Salon is a beautiful salon in Newport, RI. They provided great quality hair and makeup service for myself and bridesmaids. I scheduled appointments for six of my bridal party and each one loved their hair and makeup. They even provided coffee cake, mimosas, and drinks for us. Thank you for a great start to my wedding day! -

Wavelengths is the best salon in Newport. I travel from Boston to Newport to get a haircut because they do such a phenomenal job!
When I was planning my wedding, it was no question that I would go with Wavelengths. They are talented, reasonably priced and very flexible. All of my bridesmaids selected a different updo and each were very happy with the final result. Wavelengths can really do anything-- I could not recommend them more! -

The makeup line didn't feel like a mask and the artist was so pleasant and made me, my bridesmaids, and my mother look fantastic! The hairstylists were great and I couldn't have asked for anything more. -

I hosted the start of my sisters surprise 30th birthday party with Wavelengths and mani/pedi's. They were able to accommodate my group, provide reasonable rates and great service. The nail technicians were great - friendly and comfortable. My mother who has NEVER gotten a manicure said she even enjoyed it! They were incredibly kind and thoughtful. They provided a bottle of champagne and once we were finished with that they are conveniently located next to a liquor store. I've had another experience with them in the past for a bachelorette party over 4 years ago and their service remains consistently great. Thank you -

The Wavelengths team started my day on the perfect note. Even though it was an early morning (6 AM!) the staff came in early and provided us with breakfast and Mimosas. My hair and makeup came out gorgeous, as did that of my wedding party. My experience was perfect and I would recommend them to any Newport, RI bride! -

Wave Lengths salon was exceptional! The staff was friendly and beyond professional. I loved how my hair and makeup turned out for my wedding day, and so did my two bridesmaids! I loved my experience with using Wave Lengths for my bridal party. We did hair, makeup, and eyelashes in the salon. They were very organized and timely in returning emails. All of the girls were finished on time (7 BM, 2 mothers, 1 bride). They showed my MOH how to put in and take out the veil. I had my hair all up and never had to worry about pieces coming loose, at 2am my hair and makeup was still going strong.
Prior to the wedding, I went in for a hair and makeup trial. It was a great way to find the look I wanted and try out the veil and hair piece. Then I went in for highlights 2 weeks before the wedding. They were perfect and natural looking! They added the right dimension to my hair which made my bridal up-do pop! -

My bridesmaids and I could have been in magazines on my wedding day. We each had pictures of the updo we wanted, and they were executed flawlessly by their stylists. I have been going there for years for my usual highlights, but they exceeded my expectations for my wedding. I got my makeup done as well, and it stayed perfect throughout the entire night. I am so happy with how everything turned out. Everyone there is so friendly and consistently makes sure that you are getting what you want and are happy with the final product. I recommend this salon not just for formal events but for normal hair needs, also :) -

My family and I loved getting our hair done at Wavelengths for my wedding. Dee, the owner, does the bride's hair. I went for two trials because after the first trial, I was unsure if that was what I really wanted. At the second trial, Dee definitely captured what I was looking for, a braided updo down to a side bun. We both loved how the actual hair turned out on the day of my wedding, even better than the second trial! They offer bagels and mimosas for the bridal party. One of my sisters absolutely loved how her hairstylist replicated a picture of how she wanted her hair. Highly recommend them! -

I had my hair and make-up done at Wavelengths and they were just wonderful. Rachel really made my hair look stunning! Corey was able to do my make-up just how I had it in my trial and she wasn't even there that day! They both did a fabulous job (just ask my husband). During the trial, if I had any changes I wanted they were very open and easy about it. This was exactly the same on the day of the wedding. I felt like a beautiful bride leaving the salon! -

All the girls, my mother, mother-in-law and I felt pampered and enjoyed the experience at the salon. It was a wonderful way to start the morning with everyone so happy with their hair and makeup. Our styling and updos were all different and so beautiful. We were in and out of the salon by the time promised helping us to stay relaxed and be ready for the day. Laurie did my hair for both my rehearsal dinner and my wedding and she was great! My curls stayed in better than they ever have for the rehearsal and my up do was really unique and beautiful. My entire bridal party including my mom & aunt had their hair done at Wavelengths and it was a great experience. It did take a bit longer than originally anticipated so make sure to build in some extra time if you have a large group (we had done this so it wasn't a big deal at all). -

I can't say enough great things about this salon! Myself, my bridesmaids, grandmothers, and mothers all got our hair done before my wedding on August 8th. When we arrived in the morning they had complimentary bagels, fruit, and mimosas waiting for us! They had one stylist per a girl, which made the whole process go by very quickly - I think all 10 of us were done within 1.5-2 hours. This was extremely helpful because it allowed us to have additional time for getting ready and pictures in the morning. Each stylist recreated exactly what my girls were looking for and my hair was exactly what I wanted for and lasted the whole night! (14+ hours) I would highly recommend using them if you are having a wedding in the Newport, RI area. -

Dee the owner is gem, the salon is beautiful and conveniently located to downtown Newport. I was here with 6 bridesmaids and two mothers for hair and makeup, they stayed on time having the girls rotating around and with all their stylists it was easy. The morning of your wedding can be stressful but the staff at Wavelengths provided champagne and some upbeat music and made the morning a fun event. I went in for a trial and ended up changing my mind, Dee did not skip a beat she looked at the photos and changed the style without a second thought. I am so thrilled we chose Wavelengths. -

For my wedding, we booked for bridal hair/makeup, as well as for >13 girls of my wedding party. We were so excited that they could take us all in at the same time. They do an excellent job setting up the space, with champagne, cheese, fruit, and champagne glasses. They let us play our own music, and really enjoy the space and the special time together. My bridal hair came out stunning, and was one of the most intricate, well done up-do's I have seen. Dee spent a lot of time helping me decide how to wear it, and I truly appreciate her hard work and talent. It was AMAZING! The makeup also came out amazing, and I wish it could look like that every day. Overall, it was a great experience, and I am so glad I chose them for my wedding, and everyone looked gorgeous!
The only difficulty is with payment, as they require us to pay in 2 installments, with 50% down for booking. While I don't mind paying a deposit, it ended up being extremely confusing, as prices changed, and required much coordination for payment and left me paying for much more than I expected. I wish there was an easier way for payment, as this was an added stress to both the bride and the wedding party. However, overall, the services were perfect and we loved having them do our hair! -

when I booked this salon for my wedding day i was a little nervous since i live in new york and had only been to them once for my trial. Well, the day of turned out amazing and perfect! MY makeup was outstanding done by stacey and my hair was perfect and exactly what i was looking for done by D'Ann. Even my bridal party and mother and mother in law got their hair done at this salon and all looked gorgeous and loved all the girls they worked with. Since i was a destination wedding and on a sunday they opened the salon for me and was able to accommodate some of my wedding guests with no problem or extra charge. D'Ann also provided us with champagne and bagels that morning which was so kind of her! All the girls made my special day run nice and smooth and had me out of there exactly at the time i needed! i highly recommend them being part of anyones wedding day! -

I had my hair and makeup done at Wavelengths. When my hair is straight and sleek, that is a special occasion so that is what I had done! My stylist was absolutely adorable and did a wonderful job. For my make-up I requested an "Adele" style of make-up with cat eyes. I felt so beautiful ;-) The makeup they use photographs wonderfully and lasted throughout the evening! My husband was speechless when he saw me ;-) -

Everyone in my bridal party was super happy with their hair and makeup from wavelengths. Overall they were very responsive in the process leading up to the wedding and worked with me on my timeframe. On the day of, we were a little rushed at the end, which was stressful and maybe makes this review a bit different than it might have been. In addition, they are very expensive but that comes with the territory in Newport! -

The only way I remember the morning of our wedding now is chaos. We were told many times over that time would not be an issue and when booking my 9 bridesmaids, mother, and me, we were even told that we would get started early enough to ensure promptness for a 1:30 end time. I should have known when I called the week of and found out our appointment actually started at 11 (I thought it was at 9) that something was not right.
We walked in that morning to find an extremely busy salon with 2 other bridal parties, regular costumers, and 1 bridal trial. I listened to the bridal trial plan her own wedding in the chair next to me while my hair seemed to not come together like the picture and my trial. I expressed that I felt my hair had too much height but she told me that it would come down during the day - it never did. During my makeup, I was then pushed to the side for this other bride so that they could use the airbrush machine on her. My bridesmaids sat on the floor for an hour waiting for appointments. We all felt in the way. I felt like an inconvenience. The food there was just strawberries and cheese. I was told there would be plenty of food. We were all starved. When my mom was trying to point out what she thought was wrong with my hair and the time, the owner snapped at her. We rushed out and had to leave a car behind as we were running late for pictures and 2 bridesmaids were just getting started at 1:30. Later, the owner turned nasty when we voiced our concerns on the phone. I would not recommend this to anyone. Instead of being a special time, it felt crazy and that we were a burden. -

The saddest part of my wedding was my hair and the entire hair experience. This is the only thing I would change at my wedding day. I should have known because booking the day was a challenge in itself. I think this actually may have been the source of all our problems as we were not allotted the appropriate time. We arrived early and all of the staff arrived very late. I brought a picture of how the bridesmaid's hair was to be done. They came out NOTHING like the photo. One was so bad that when I was asked if I liked it, I said it looked nothing like the photo. The woman got very defensive, said that she already had another client waiting, and why didn't I tell her sooner. I didn't realize midway that it would look the way it did when it was completed and that's what I told her. She actually even MADE ME CRY on my wedding day. Very sad. No apology, nothing. I asked if she could just leave my bridesmaid's hair down she said no it was too dirty. Who says that.....tact much? Prior to even starting the whole hair process, we asked if she could wash her hair and she said no, she didn't have time. My hair...At my trial I spent 2 hours in the chair, wedding day at most 45 minutes. At the trial I spent at least 20 minutes allowing my curls to set, wedding day at most 5 minutes. When I walked out of the salon my hair didn't look exactly like my trial, but it was looking good. I could have said something if I wanted it different and fuller like the trial, but I honestly at that point was holding back tears and just wanted to get out of there. The woman doing my hair did try to calm me down and mediate the situation between and the other woman. Anyways, my hair completely fell out by the time I got the reception. I got to my wedding reception and when I looked in the mirror and it looked like I forgot to brush my hair. The curls had completely fallen out and it just looked ucky. I was horrified and embarrassed when I saw the photos from the day.Wave Lengths Salon & Spa's reply:

I was very surprised when I read this review. The start time of 10:45 which was confirmed with you on July 7 by email, there was no mention at that time of any concerns for a 9:00 a.m. start.
You asked to be done by 1:30 as stated on the contract. The last 2 attendants left the salon by 1:40.We were asked to add ON services. Which was full makeup for MOG, 2 attendants were scheduled for eye makeup only and requested full makeup, also 2 bridesmaids requested a full up/do as opposed to wash and blow drys. We not only accommodated but had them leaving the salon by 1:40.
I was quiet shocked when your mom in the last 15 minutes before leaving, took me aside and expressed she was not happy. I had complimented you and the bridal party several times how awesome your bridal party was to work with. Everyone seemed happy with their hair and makeup, as well as yourself. Your mom did seem very nervous throughout the morning. She seemed overwhelmed that the salon was busy, but this is a typical summer Saturday. We had 8 stylists plus 3 makeup artist's working on your bridal party, not one person was late taking the bridal party for their services.
For refreshments we offer cheese and crackers, a full coffee and beverage bar including champagne and orange juice. As far as your mom with your hair, it was at the end when I attached the veil and she wanted it in a different spot. I was concerned, when she was going to take it out after I put it in.
Regarding the seating, we asked the girls who were sitting on the floor looking through the photo albums of hair styles, if they wanted us to bring over a bench they said they were fine and they were taken for their appointments as scheduled.
I did speak with your mom about her concerns after the wedding. I honestly feel that the salon and spa staff accommodated yourself and your bridal party in a professional and timely manner according to the contract received and email conversation.
