She is very good at talking to you about what your preference of style might be -- and making suggestions of dresses that are most suitable for you. I knew I found my dress as soon as I tried it on. -
User2675539 Sent on 07/06/2016I was so happy I was recommended to check out Vows for my wedding dress. Vicki was wonderfully and has a really good eye for what styles look good on your body. She's straight forward which was really helpful for me and found me the most beautiful dress that fit in my budget. She is also very considerate of your budget and won't let you try on anything above unless you say so. She's very honest and professional and highly recommend making an appointment at Vows. I also liked the quick lesson in how to put in and walk in my dress because I had no idea! My dress came out perfectly!! -

User921421 Sent on 09/04/2012I seriously hope all Hawaii brides visit this store. If you love "Say Yes to the Dress" you're going to love this store! I knew while looking for THE dress, I wanted to have that "Kleinfeld" experience where the consultants know, based on your body type and frame, what dress would look gorgeous on you.
Vows is a very unassuming store. It doesn't have the glitz or glamour of Kleinfeld's or even Casablanca but it's clean, organized and, most importantly, Vicki and Dera are there!
Vicki and Dera are the heart and soul of this store. They ask you a few questions; wedding locations, day or night wedding, price point and what styles you had in mind, and based on this, they pull 4-6 dresses that they think would be most flattering to your figure and budget. I must have gone in 6 times and each time they pulled a new set of dresses along with the one I originally fell in love with so that I could compare and feel confident with the decision I was about to make. They have an amazing memory and remembered what I originally asked for, the dresses I tried on and what I liked and didn't like.
My wedding dress was perfect and Vicki picked it out for me. It was gorgeous and form flattering, light weight and cool. It was just the perfect dress for my wedding day.
There's no appointment necessary and, even when they're busy, can usually assist you within 15 minutes of your arrival. The store is located on Beretania Street with ample street parking and a free parking lot in the back. Vicki is a little hard to understand but pay close attention because this woman knows what she's talking about! -

Kryssie Sent on 08/10/2015I was referred to from one of my family members since they got their dress from there so I figure check this place out. When I first walked in I was greeted and had to fill out a form with all my information. Ladies make sure you know your budget and style. The owner Vicki was helpful ,but I had a really hard time understanding her. From previous reviews I've read online they say she had cancer in the mouth so most of the time I just pretended I knew what she was talking about. Other than that they have a beautiful collection of dresses ,but unfortunately I didn't find my dress here. -

As soon as I walked into their store I described my dream wedding dress and within minutes they brought out three dresses that I feel in love with! So Vicky brought out a dress that combined all three dresses. It was so easy and so fun to work with Vicky because she knows exactly what she is doing. They even taught me how to walk in my dress and I was fitted perfectly! They don't always answer their phones during business hours or get back to you as soon as you'd like them to but, they are probably just really busy. They had 16 other brides to assist that got married on the same date. -

Let me first start by saying that I got my dress here. And I loved my dress. And I didn't find anything else like it anywhere. And if I could give 5 stars for the dress itself, I would. So there's that. And in the beginning, the experience was great, but as the big day got closer, working with Vows became my biggest point of stress in the whole wedding process.
I checked out Vows after work one day and was pleasantly pleased by the selection. Vicky, the owner, took the time to ask me a number of questions about budget, style, and venue. She is very blunt - which I appreciated, but I could see how that may not sit as well with others - and she said basically these things:
- She will respect my budget. There are beautiful dresses for less and for more, but she will never pull a dress beyond my budget for fear that I will fall in love and splurge when I shouldn't.
- She will respect my taste and show me dresses based on what I've described, BUT she will also select dresses that she knows will look best on my body. 20+ years of being in the industry has taught her what looks best. And when she pulled dresses, I could tell she was right.
- She has never, ever had a dress arrive late. So no worries.
Well, I found a dress in my budget that made me look fantastic. Brought in my family to get their final stamp of approval (I made them choose between "the one" and another option from a different shop). I put in the order in September. I was told that the dress would arrive in early February with enough time do fittings and alterations with no rushing for my mid-April wedding.
February came and went. I heard nothing from Vows. Finally, on March 13, 1 month shy of my wedding and now 1 month late from the original timeline, I gave them a call. They told me to come in that Friday (in 2 days) for the fitting. I felt relieved. However, as I am making the 35 minute drive to the shop, I receive a call when I am 5 minutes out. They don't have my dress. It hasn't arrived yet from the manufacturer. (I was livid that they didn't let me know earlier!) But never I fear, the dress is scheduled to arrive the week of March 25 and they'll call me as soon as it's in. The week came and went; they didn't call me.
I called again on April 1 and said: "Hi. I am getting married in 12 days. Where is my dress?" They said they'd check and call me back. I finally heard back and they said the dress was scheduled to arrive on Friday, April 5, 8 days before my wedding -- the manufacturer had run out of lace and had to remake it? -- and can we tentatively schedule a fitting for end of day on Friday. I was supposed to be working at a convention that day, but had to finagle with my friend to cover my shift so I could go to this fitting that should have been months ago. The dress arrived Thursday night. The Friday fitting went fine. She did discount the alteration fee, but I feel strongly that it should have been free. Final fitting was the following Tuesday. We picked up the dress the night before my wedding since they needed time to steam/press the dress. And in the end, I got the dress and I looked good in it, and it all worked out.
But it almost didn't. And the amount of stress it caused, not knowing if the dress was even going to make it in time -- trying to figure out if I needed to look for a back up dress -- was not something that I needed.
Now, I'm not sure if this is typical of the experience. I just know it's my experience. And I did very much like Vicky and feel like she knows her stuff; she also has a great selection of dresses. But brides beware of your timeline -- stay on the dress shop, no matter where you go, to make sure the dress is coming in on schedule and to avoid this unnecessary headache. -

User1289989 Sent on 08/16/2013Vows Bridal shop in Honolulu had the best dresses I seen from all the other bridal stores in Honolulu. The only down part is the older sales lady is very rude and after you pay your dress, it seems like they don't care. If you would like to be treated with respect and great customer service do not go here. I also got a pair of shoes from them and the shoes did not fit correctly the older sales lady did not let me exchange it. For all the money I spent at the store you would figure they would let me change the shoes, it was barely used and did not use it outside other than shop. My experience at Vows was very stressful and disappointing. I should've listened to the other reviews and stayed cleared of Vows, but like I mentioned, they had the best Bridal dresses. After I made my final payment for wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses, we were told we could only come on the week days due to the fact weekends are reserved only for NEW customers. So it shows they don't care about customers after paid.I can say they have the dresses but be prepared for older saleslady rudeness and very angry personality. When ever I went in, i did felt rushed.Oh and the bridesmaid dresses are very poorly made and at the wedding one of the dresses had spots on it. The bridesmaid with spots on her dress. Another bridesmaid dress ripped at the reception. The younger sales girls were very nice I have to say but as for the older saleslady she seemed like in a rush and irritated. Had the customer service had been better, 5 stars! Loved my dress though a that's all that mattered.

User2590882 Sent on 04/28/2016This was the very first place that I went to look at wedding dresses and my friend had bought her dress here. I was super excited and I had brought my family with me. The ladies here were so rude and talked down to us. When I explained to her what I was looking for and showed her photos, she got very rude and hostile. I explained that I was looking for something simple. The salesperson told me in a very condescending tone that the photos I showed her aren't really what the dress will look like. And I could order it on the internet but that they couldn't fix it once it comes. And they do not do that. I explained that all I was looking for was a simple dress and do they have that. After that she finally brought out something simple. The dress was more what I was looking for. But after the way that she treated me, I would not have bought it even if I loved it. The salesperson here was terrible and I would NEVER recommend this place.
